Shalimar Salon and Spa

Not so much… I have given this place several tries over a 5 year period, thinking in a year they may have gotten better… Not. Unorganized, left with hair not real happy about. This place just doesn’t have the IT factor.

New to the Anthem area, I decided to look around for an Aveda salon closer to my new home. I contacted the Shalimar to find out what it would cost to have a partial highlight. I was informed that it would be $ 80. I booked the appointment, even though it was $ 20 more than my previous Aveda salon. When I arrived, I was greeted well by both the receptionist and stylist. The experience was pleasant but I had a BIG surprise when I went to pay. They charged me $ 118. $ 38 more than what I was told it would be. I inquired why it was so much and was informed that the stylist used additional color-​I have NEVER needed additional color before and I have been going to Aveda salons for over 10 years plus I had 3 inches taken off at a haircut the week before, so there is no reason my hair would have required additional product… they also charged me for a product I have never heard of before… it started with an «O». I explained to the receptionist that I was very disappointed in their business practices, but she didn’t seem to care. The owner was just a short distance away but she did not come speak to me. I would not recommend this salon. I prefer the extra 20 minute drive to a salon I know I can trust. BEWARE!

If I could give it a zero, I would. I have never seen customer service so disappointing. I was even dealing with the owner and thought since this was a small community, she would be willing to make things right with her customer.
I was blown away that she had no interest in saving a customer and their reputation. I have family that goes to the salon and she was willing to risk our business over a $ 26 dollar transaction.
I don’t know what country this owner is from but in America, you have to do right in business. Such a shame as I love AVEDA and this is the only close place. I will make the drive to avoid giving my business here.
Very disappointing and I will never walk in that door again as long as it is under her management. I ended up having to go directly through AVEDA to remedy my issue and they were beyond helpful.
If you want to make sure your best interest is taken care of, don’t go here.

This review is for the Spa aspect. I cannot for the life of me remember the guy’s name, but he does the facials/​waxing at Shalimar (there are 2 men there). I’ve been to Shalimar for hair and it was a disaster. I gave it THREE tries for hair. The first time I loved it. 2^nd and 3^rd… I left with my hair feeling damped, frizzy and my cut was awful. But anyway…
The décor of the salon could be a little updated, though the shampoo room was relaxing. The owner is always very nice and hilarious. That aside, I decided to give their Skin services a try.
I am so glad I did! The esthetician (male) was amazing! You really get a full hour!!! Price was excellent and his massage was to die for! The room was very cramped, but when you’re getting pampered, who cares?! His customer service is excellent! I’ll always go to him now for my facials.

Love this Salon! I had just moved to the area and was in need of a salon. Shalimar is the owner and she just helps make you feel right at home. The salon is very clean, high end and has a zen calming feel to it. Joshua is an Aveda trained hair stylist and incredibly knowledgable with hair color, cuts and styling. He is funny and just easy to chat with. The staff as a whole is friendly and professional. Coming from the San Francisco, CA area, I was concerned that I would have a difficult time finding a place I can trust here in Az. Shalimar is awesome! I highly recommend this salon.

I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I made the mistake of getting a «$ 7.99 haircut», and the lady butchered my hair — the day before a job interview. I was in tears all day. Joshua came in early for me the next morning and did an amazing job fixing it.
They also did a blowout on my hair and made me look like an entirely different person. I went into my interview with complete confidence. It was worth every penny.
They really went out of their way to help me, and I don’t think I’ve ever felt so beautiful. I’ll definitely be going back.

I have been to this salon twice now and I have to say that my experience was very good. I first went for a haircut — my hair is short and I was given Alicia’s name by a friend of mine who also has short hair. It was a great cut so when I needed to have my hair highlighted — I went back and Alicia again did a great job. This Aveda salon is very clean with personable employees…
