The guy spent about an three hours total — taking apart the heater at my rental property and then trying to put it back, which cost me $ 195.00… in the end he tells us we need to replace the pilot generator which would cost us $ 300+ The guy did not really seem like he knew what he was doing. I would recommend El Cerrito Heating over Pro Tech any day. It’s a small family business and the technicians are very knowledgeable. I never have any problems with them. They are honest and affordable. The owners are brothers and they have been doing this for some time so they know what they are doing. The next day I managed to get someone from El Cerrito heating to come over and they fixed the heater within an hour. They told me that there was nothing even wrong with the pilot generator. In conclusion, i wasted $ 195 by having Pro-Tech heating and they still did not know what the problem was or how to fix it. If you have an older heater, stay away from these guys at all costs!

I came home the night before to a half-warm house and the acrid smell of electrical burn. I called a few of the local Heating/Air repair companies and the guy who got back to me(Mike from Hassler Heating) referred me to Pro-Tech. I called and left a voicemail asking for urgent assistance. I’m very happy with the service provided. I am slammed at work and didn’t respond to their 8am call, so they called me back at 10am and were still able to get a tech out by 2pm. Derrick arrived perfectly on time, was courteous, showed me some tips and tricks for improving our heating experience and, above all, diagnosed and fixed the problem pretty quickly. Nothing sucks more than having the heater go out on a cold rainy night, but nothing beats having it up and running first thing the next day.
