I was recently under the care of the doctors at Sutter for my 2nd pregnancy and the entire time I was frustrated. The staff was nice enough, but getting things done there was hair pulling. I was continually sent to Oakland for ultrasounds which was extremely inconvienent. More disturbingly I didnt receive my glucose blood test until I was 28 weeks pregnant and was never told my results. I was told they hadnt received them from quest labs yet by week 30. Two weeks later I switched my care to Kaiser who had to fax and call repeatedly to get my records sent over. My 1st appointment at Kaiser my doctor told me that the glucose results were a bit high and immediately ordered the 3 hour glucose test. A day after having my blood test I got my results emailed to me. I am now being treated for gestational diabetes and I wouldve started a lot earlier if Sutter had just done the work theyre supposed to do. I pray nothing goes wrong with this delievery.

The big day has happened. Lil’ John was born on 1÷14÷11 at 1:05pm. He decided the he wanted to flip over on his due date and become feet down instead of head down. We waited 2 days and he didn’t go back into place. So a C-Section it was. I was not prepared for this and was really, really sad. I cried for the two days prior to the C-Section. We went in and got prepared by signing the appropriate paper work. I got hooked up to the iv’s. The only bad experience happened here when a nurse who was training literally punched her fist into the pending iv needle sticking out of the top of my hand. I still have a giant green and brown bruise on my hand today. I was already coming to terms with the fact that I was not going to experience child birth and this just sent me reeling back into how much I really didn’t want to have to have a C-Section. Gushing blood and horrible pain right before a surgery isn’t something anyone should endure. Surprisingly I was not as out of it as I thought when Lil’ John was finally out in the big world. I heard and saw everything that was going on. Once he was cleaned up the nursery nurse took him and my husband to go do the weighing, diapering and dressing. She was so amazing and patient with my husband. She taught him everything! Since I was recouping I really needed him to be able to change diapers for the 12 to 24 hours before I was able to walk again. For the 3 days I was hospitalized I had a slew of nurses. Some were better than others and I don’t want to name names but they know who they are. We were taken amazing care of and all of my questions were answered. They even did a mini CPR training course for my husband and I. I do have some advice for any couple who is having a baby and has more than a day stay at the hospital. Bring your own good toilet paper. Trust me you and your loved ones will thank me in the end. After I was finally home and recouping I got a wonderful note from all of the nurses. It made me cry that they would care that much to write me each a personal message. I’m so thankful to all of the nurses and Dr’s who were able to prepare me for my new life as a mom and my husbands new life as a dad. Thank you to everyone.
