Territorial News

Territorial News is a free newspaper I picked up in Chandler at Von Hanson’s Meats & Spirits in Chandler. It proclaims itself as «Your Connection to the Old West», and the content appriopriately includes features depicting historical figures who have some connection to Arizona back in the frontier times.
What I found useful were the ads and coupons for businesses in the Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa, and Queen Creek areas. Seems to be an emphasis on the more Old West and touristy attractions in the area (maybe the target demographic includes the seasonal snowbird population), but plenty of cool restaurants and bars are also represented (e.g. Churchill’s Pub advertises in this newspaper).
I’ll probably make a habit of picking up the newsprint copy of this little local freebie when I’m in need of inspiration to explore some off-​the-​beaten-​path places on my side of the greater Phoenix area. Although the content is freely available on-​line at the publisher’s website, it requires downloading each page of each issue individually as a PDF file (which can be anywhere from 1 – 4 megabytes).
Happy to see the spirit of the Old West is alive and well in the pages of the Territorial News.
