I go to this shop on a weekly basis, if not more than once every other day. The staff is amazing, the owner cares about his customers, and the selection of items are awesome. They keep great brands in stock such as The North Face, DC shoes, Emerica, Landyachtz, Sector 9, and many more for all different outdoor enthusiasts. I will recommend this store until the day I die. If you haven’t been, then you’re missing out on a wonderful opportunity to see just what great people Apex has to offer!

Adventures in outdoor gear. Here’s the place. I was surprised to find a store like Apex Outfitter outside Raleigh, Durham, or Chapel Hill. For some reason, I thought I’d have to drive several minutes to find a non-chain box store carrying things like this. Apex Outfitter has the usual, including outerwear and board supplies. They have an impressive selection of the popular brands such as Patagonia and The Northface, Columbia, Sanuk. The front of the store with the outerwear has a lodge feel, appropriately enough. The store layout is a little confusing as the outerwear is mixed and you almost have to look by brand, rather than function. The board supplies and gear are in the back of the store in the beach-vibe section. There are various brands of longboards and skateboards and associated gear, and the store will soon have paddleboards. Having a place like AOBC in the area is nice and that it’s owned locally, makes it a good stop to pick up some warm gloves for the chilly weather, spend a little time in the quasi-summer aura of the board section, and, at the suggestion of the son of a friend, get some gift certificates for those Sector 9 or Skate Mafia boards.
