Out of the Kiln

If you like pottery, this store has some gorgeous one of a kind pieces. This one store actually extends into three different storefronts with housewares, ceramics, glass vases, bowls, baby items, jewelry, fragrance diffusers — nearly any type of house knickknack you could imagine. I like that nearly all of the items that caught my attention, and there were quite a few, were all by NC locals.
One of the people whose work is displayed was working the counter the day I was there. He was actually pretty funny in explaining whether the pottery mugs could be used in the microwave (officially «no»). What a great salesman.
The egg separator caught my eye — it was unlike any egg separator I’d ever seen. Since I didn’t see the hole right away it took me a minute to figure out how you separated eggs with it. It looked more like a bowl or a mug without a handle.
Overall it’s an interesting shop that I’ll have to explore some more when I have more time.

Out of the Kiln features some absolutely beautiful and unique handcrafted stoneware, ceramics and houseware and jewelry items.
Many of them are created by the owners and the rest are from among other really incredible local NC artists. A great place for browsing for a gift for the «hard to buy for».
