Great atmosphere in a beautifully renovated old downtown Apex building. A unique menu make sit hard to choose which great meal your going to have this evening. Whether you are there with a large party or a couples night out this is a great place for a super meal.

Oh, Peak City. I want to love you. I love downtown Apex and I love the space. But the food has been seriously underwhelming the last 2 times we’ve been. On last month’s visit, I ordered the autumn ravioli. I think it would have been good if it was hot, but it was ice cold. I sent it back and it again came back cold(maybe .0002 degrees warmer). The manager apologized, said it was an ongoing problem with this particular dish, and gave us a $ 20 gift card to return. We went back this past Saturday. I decided to try the smoked salmon bruschetta appetizer($ 10). It was awful! It looked like someone opened a can of pink salmon(the kind on the shelf next to the tuna), mixed it with mayonnaise, and sprinkled a few capers on top. The bread was stale, too. Blech. For my entrée I had the harvest salad with salmon on top. It was ok but nothing great. and the piece of salmon was pretty tiny. I think if we ever go back we’ll stick to the burger. that seems to be the only thing they do well(my husband always gets that). Oh, by the way, the«special» they were advertising(some kind of beef and scallops) was $ 48! For one entrée! PCG would do well to downgrade the menu to more of a gastropub style(with prices to match).

Over-rated, over-hyped, over-priced, über-noisy. This sums it all up being in this place 4 times. We should have stopped at 2nd but we had high hopes., and we’re very disappointed.

We were so looking forward to eating here. It turned out to be somewhat of a disappointment. The service was very good and helpful. The food was good but not«special». It would have been a positive experience except that the noise level was out of control. I think it was a combination of a Friday evening and the acoustics. I spent the entire time shouting at my wife so she could hear me. Result: Could not wait to leave. We may try a mid-week dinner to see if it’s better.

We recently moved to Apex and had walked past this place a couple times. Saw some negative ratings so initially passed on going here. Finally we tried it and so glad we did. It’s a very nice place. We have a one year old and they were very accommodating. The service and food was excellent. We had the tuna appetizer, short rib sandwich, and the Carolina Shrimp sandwich. All very well done. Full of flavor. I also enjoyed a flight of local beers they had on tap. Try it for yourself. Can’t wait to go back.

I ate at Peak last night and it was quite good, well that’s an understatement. I enjoyed everything about it. The shrimp and grits had the flavor of what New Orleans is most known for. I am so excited because I have decided to go back tonight and have asked friends to join me.

I love Peak City Grill! I’ve been several times and gotten different dishes every time and I’m never disappointed.

My husband and I have dined here several times since PCG opened. We normally get an appetizer and drinks after work or on a Saturday afternoon after shopping. Every once in awhile we have dinner. The prices are typical for fine dining, but I agree with many reviews that the quality does not match the price… which is why we normally don’t eat dinner. Too hit and miss. We came in on a Friday night recently and our experience was the worst. The shrimp and grits were swimming in a soupy flavorless mess and my husband’s bone in pork chop did not have a bone and was clearly the end cut that should have been used in another way or not at all. I like the atmosphere herej and will stick to the appetizers and leave the fine dining to a restaurant that can pull it off.

I have been coming to Peak City Grill since they opened years ago. Their food is always top shelf and ample amounts of it. I love the ambience of the authentic old building. Their long bar was one of the first to have granite on it. Their drinks are excellent and cutting edge. Their wine selection is also good. Due to the narrowness of the building, their bar area is not that cozy though when it is crowded. They also have an outdoor area for dining.

Save your money, go somewhere else. The food was average at best. Ordered a $ 40 steak which was fatty and very thin. Worst Ceasar Salad I have ever tasted… expensive for what you get. Very disappointed after hearing so many good things. Seems that others feel the same way, is anybody listening at Peak City??? Make some changes FAST or you will be just another restaurant that could have been great.

We went here last night for dinner. We choose to sit outside and saw the warning note on the door saying that the restaurant was not responsible for incidents due to wildlife. When I asked about this, they said they’ve had some complaints do to the flies bothering people. I didn’t give this much notice at first, but it became bothersome during the meal. The flies we’re everywhere! People were even moving back inside to eat. Our server said that the flies were actually better than the previous months. As far as the food goes, it was rather pricey. $ 14 for a hamburger and $ 19 for a salad with shrimp. I would probably come back to the restaurant and give it a try for lunch. No more dinners for me here though.

Our kids took us here for our anniversary, and I must say the service was great and even the food was good, however this place is way over priced for what you get. I ordered the Sirloin steak and it didn’t come with a side, this is unheard of, no baked potatoes either. Everything was a la carte which is crazy. $ 25.00 for a steak and no side come on now. I ate at Ruth Chris steak house and at least had a side included. Sorry to say won’t be back.

I had a terrible first experience at Peak City Grill. My husband wanted to treat me for my first Mother’s Day. We went on a Saturday in the late afternoon to avoid a crowd since we had the baby with us. It took over an hour to get our food. We wanted to leave several times, but were repeatedly told«it’ll be right out.» Eventually, after an 1 hr 20 minutes our food finally arrived. Keep in mind, the restaurant was fairly empty, but there was a large party upstairs. If they want to allow large groups, they need to make sure the kitchen can handle it!!! We were so upset at the whole experience that we spoke with the manager(since they didn’t take the initiative to make it right). After hearing our concerns, we were given a $ 25 gift card/apology/please give us another chance. After we said that wasn’t enough, they also comped the meal. Well two times and done. We went back for lunch on a Monday. Not many people there and still a long wait! Food was sub par for the price. French dip had good flavor, but very fatty. The chicken salad, also good flavor, but many bad bites of chicken. I’m very disappointed as the location is fantastic and building is beautiful. I am hopeful they make some changes to include a bigger/faster kitchen, larger menu with more variety and cheaper prices. I will say wait staff is fantastic — friendly and informative.

Always a wonderful meal at Peak City! Great staff, great food, couldn’t ask for more! We had a lovely four course meal tonight, and delicious cocktails. Love it! Wish they would being back the mussels, as they were my favorite :)

My last review was based on my lunch experience and I would still recommend Peak City for lunch. Dinner though – not so great. I think the prices are very high for dinner and you can go low-end with a burger at $ 13 or go all out with a $ 40 steak plus sides a la carte. We were a group of 5 ladies and we asked our server(John or Sean. could not really understand him) about the wine options. He brought us the wine list and we explained that we would like a house bottle of red wine. He made a sour-milk face while describing«Del Sol» and said he would get us that. In turns out that Del Sol was no longer available so he returned with the expensive wine list where bottles start at $ 34. We opted for glasses instead and I just feel the service turned to poor after we did not order an expensive bottle of wine. One of our guests asked for mineral water. I grew up in Europe so mineral water to me is sparkling water and not still water. He brought a bottle of still, fancy water so that was another miscommunication. It was the same as the tap water served in a glass so our guest really wanted«sparkling» mineral water. We ordered and then asked for ground pepper. That took another 10 minutes to get some pepper on a salad. Our food was fine but I really do wish we had a server that can accommodate and take care of a group of 5 women with some type of wine and not get all upset when we don’t go for the $ 80 bottle. The place is charming but we hit it on a off-night and I will only come back for lunch.

Cerviche was surprisingly good but it all went downhill from here. Kale was grossly overcooked. almost compost looking Clams were ok but the bread was stale and hardly any broth. And to end it all. the crème brulé was miserable… If u are going to even sell this, make a decent one… Hardly any effort to burn the top to get any crystallization.

I went for lunch and was extremely disappointed in the food. My burger was overcooked and the burger, mac and cheese and green beans all were over peppered. Also I was amazed that the kids meal was just as expensive as my lunch burger… that’s just crazy. The positives, are the atmosphere is nice and the staff were all very friendly. I’m sure if I had said something about my burger being over cooked they would have switched it out.

I have never been disappointed with Peak City Grill until last night. I had a dinner reservation at 5:30pm that I had only made a few hours before. Apparently they lost the reservation, because they looked surprised and asked for the name several times to make sure. They finally decided to just seat us. They walked past several booths that were empty with signs that said, «reserved for groups of 4 or more»(which we were) and took us upstairs. It was SO dark! We couldn’t see or menus! We resorted to the light from our cell phones to read. When the food came we couldn’t see the various ingredients. Don’t they know a large part of savoring food is sight? I got a spinach, strawberry, and feta salad. It had barely any feta or strawberries, and there was barely enough dressing to cover my salad. And I don’t drown my salads. I still gave them 4 stars because the food was good and other times I have been, the experience was much better. Maybe because we weren’t put in a cave the other times. They really need to invest in better lighting if they are going to seat people up there.

I honestly don’t get the hype of this place. First of all, it’s way too pricey. I’m sitting here right now Unilocaling it because it was that bad. The reason I’m giving this two stars is because the place itself isn’t that bad, however, the food isn’t ll that great. Here are some of the cons: It’s too pricey Food took forever to come out(30min) Even the bread took forever Our server was fine but the others were a bit rude Hush puppies were a bit burnt Pros: … They were consistent refilling our water cups Nice place to take someone on a date Restrooms are clean Tip: Don’t get the duck or their chicken. Go with the ribs. Their risotto is terrible. Honestly, I’m not going back. It was disappointing. Also don’t get the salmon if your super hungry.

When my family comes to town we always stop by Peak City Grill. For a special occasion this is where you go in Apex. The menu is pricey but the food is good. I have to admit I rarely order a steak or entrée here but stick with the salads and apps. I have had a decent steak here though. They also have a prime rib night on Wed. for $ 29 that includes a salad and a loaded baked potato. They have a really nice bar with some local brews, you can even order a flight. If you like a nice glass of wine in a great atmosphere this is your place. I love downtown Apex and this is a great restaurant to check out if your here. On my last visit I ordered a side of fall roasted vegetables I know it’s simple but they were delicious and just what I was in the mood for. I also ordered the tuna sashimi app I’m a sashimi lover and this tuna was really good. You can order a small or large order of sashimi so it’s perfect for a full meal or to share amongst a group of people. The«bleu» chips are to die for and is one of the reasons we stop by even if it’s just for a cocktail and appetizer. Our server Darryl was excellent he kept the water and wine glasses full throughout our stay. I noticed they are serving a Thanksgiving buffet if you don’t want to cook I’m sure they do a great job. Overall a good choice for a nice meal in Apex!
