Server was friendly if she ever actually came by our table or wasn’t on her phone. As for the sushi. It was with out a doubt the worst ever. No wonder it was a BOGO deal. Maybe if their rice was half as sticky as their floors or tables were, then maybe their bargain rolls could have actually held together the horrible mix of either super rubber fish, extra mushy fish or fried things that just tasted burnt and if it wasn’t for the grease, they would have turned to dust. The Crab Rangoon wasn’t bad but the rest, ended up in the trash where it belonged.

Good but not great. Bogo all the time which is nice. The menu is huge with a lot of variation. They include pictures of all the rolls in the menu which is helpful as well.

This restaurant should be named Sushi Eeeewa ! Lesson learned– be wary of a restaurant like this when they offer BOGO on their sushi. Not fresh at all !! Enclosed with my review is a picture of a sushi roll with supposedly eel. Soo disgusting! Server was pushing for a drink special even though I have set my mind on having a Lychee sake. Good thing manager did was to take off the sushi rolls from our bill but we will never go back to this restaurant.

Do your taste buds a favor and eat here. We pulled this place up here on Unilocal and decided to give it a try and left very happy. 2 entrees and 2 Sushi Rolls with a tip for less than $ 50. I ordered the Imperial Chicken and because it was an entrée it came with Salad or one of three soups. The Hot and Sour Soup was delicious and was served at a temperature I could enjoy it right away. The chicken wasn’t your typical small piece of chicken with heavy breading, but huge chunks of chicken served with probably the best rice I’ve eaten on the side of a meal. Our waitress Roxxy was pleasant, helpful and didn’t rush us out even during a busy Saturday lunch. If I could give this place a 6th star I could… we will visit here when we come back in town.

Very good neighborhood sushi restaurant. They also serve other dishes to try. They are sushi BOGO and also do take out.

To avoid any further frustration, we decided to just order the same sushi everytime we go or pick up. Our favorites are the classic California, perfect rice texture and seasoning, fresh avocado,.delish! Sexy Girl,.sushi with shrimp tempura inside and kani outside, yum! Spider Roll another sushi favorite, big pieces with fried soft shell crab inside. And regular salmon sushi.

Sushi Iwa is located in Apex, North Carolina, about twenty minutes from Raleigh. I went on a Friday night and my first reaction was how packed it was. We called ahead of time and they apparently don’t take reservations. They do a huge takeout business as well, so there were also a lot of people waiting for their food to-go. It was just my girlfriend and I, but the two of us had to wait about half an hour to be seated. The food was very much worth the wait… For the rest of my review go to

You can’t say NO to BOGO but you can say NO to huge sushi rolls. Okay, size matters when it comes to sushi. If it takes two-3 bites to eat ONE sushi roll, there’s a problem. It becomes a quantity over quality roll. I’m not too fond of sushi rolls with tons of sauce on top. Last but not least, sushi rolls shouldn’t fall apart. I felt like I was eating fried rice for a bit. Overwhelming chooses of sushi rolls. If you’re looking for quantity over quality, this is the Sushi restaurant for you. Overall, it was a good dining experience.

Tasty sushi. I wasn’t as big a fan of the ones with shrimp tempura in them, but it’s nice that it’s BOGO, which makes it around $ 6 – 7 per roll. We were told our wait time would be about 35 minutes, but it was only about 10. Friendly server who was very helpful when we mentioned that it was our first time. Lo mein and fried rice were mediocre.

Sushi Iwa really impressed me! The menu is HUGE, and super extensive, and best of all, each dish has an accompanying picture! How neat is that? They had a TON of sushi options, some very interesting(one had bacon in it), but I ended up ordering the my girl sushi, which was really really good. My aunt ordered the kimchi udon which I tried, and I wish I had gotten that as well. Really recommend this place if you’re in the area, and I would definitely come back again when visiting North Carolina. Perfect place for your sushi fix.

Can I just say that I love sushi… and the sushi is really good, plus the BOGO deal is amazing, but they really need help in the service department!!! Our waiter seamed like he was in the weeds. The restaurant didn’t look that busy, but he was all over the place — kinda felt bad for him. I ordered a house salad and two sushi rolls, my husband order a phở soup. My salad arrived first, I had it — this was normal. Them I got my sushi and my husband’s soup was nowhere to be found. It never arrived!!! We shared my sushi, and when we asked for the bill, the waiter said, «your soup is coming, do you not want it now?» I was a bit shocked by the question. Our drinks and sushi dish was already drank and eaten, and he thinks we still want the soup that never showed up??? No! We don’t want the soup! They definitely need better management… Too bad too, because the sushi is good.

Horrible service. Just walked out after getting our table and being ignored for 14:30 minutes. Yes, we counted. It took the«host» two minutes to find the dang menus. We were sat down and then left alone for almost 15 minutes. We walked out and the same host greeted us with«thank you for coming». Ridiculous!

Fresh Quail egg with tobiko was out tonight. Chef offered me rarely seen Anko(monk fish liver) poached in Sake. Quite a nice surprise and well prepared and presented perfectly to compliment tobiko. That is what excellent service Sushi Iwa offers to please you and delight your palate. So nice and trusted frequent customer relationship keeps you coming back.

Still continue to go to Iwa every so often. There seems to be a trend towards slower service. Today was the worst. Not the servers’ faults; the kitchen(sushi bar) was just terribly slow: ironic, when you know that sushi is Japanese fast food :). We waited a painfully long time and even began to think of just getting the check and going somewhere else. Last two visits, the sushi has been very inconsistent. The quality of the ingredients is okay, but some pieces of the tools are cut HUGE and some are too small. Seems like a chef that hasn’t been properly trained or doesn’t care is working there now. I think I’m going to have to find another«go too sushi joint in Apex, unfortunately. Even with 2 for 1 sushi, the value is leaking out of this place

From sushi lover to sushi lover, it was recommended for me to try Sushi Iwa. It was by no means bad sushi, but not as great as I expected either. Pros: — Picture menu for sushi selection — BOGO sushi — Unique sushi that I have not seen at other sushi joints — Nice location. Shopping and movie theatre nearby Cons: — The prices were not listed on the sushi menu which made it hard to take advantage of the BOGO and difficult to avoid an extremely expensive roll. — Wait staff was not attentive. I did not get any refills of water and the staff did not come by again except to bring the checks.

I found out about Sushi Iwa from a really nice couple while we were dining at Ginza. They told us all that the sushi is great so we had to also give it a try. All sushi rolls are buy one, get one free. The menu has really neat pictures of all the sushi rolls so you have a picture description to go along with the words. The menu also has Thai, Chinese and many other dishes so you have plenty of choices. All of our sushi rolls were freshly made and just as described. From the outside, you would not notice the restaurant because the glass is so dark on the outside. Yet, once inside, it is a nice atmosphere with tvs, sushi bar and about 8 security cameras at the hostess stand. If you are looking for a great deal on sushi while in the Beaver Creek shopping area, this is the place. They are also open for lunch.

I have been to many sushi places in my life and this one has the largest selection of sushi. And not just the largest selection, but so many of the rolls that I like. I am a purist when it comes to sushi. I really prefer the ones that have fish on top and rice on bottom. But I have been known to like ones that have lobster, mango, caviar, and even beef. But do not put any mayonnaise or crème cheese in my sushi or I will throw up. Even the thought of those items in my sushi is making me queasy. But anyway, Sushi Iwa has many rolls that have Laura written on them. And they are so fresh, just the right size to fit in your mouth, and wonderful tasting. Great job Iwa. I’ll be back again and again.

I cannot really complain about this place, I just don’t love it. And I’m kind of a sushi connoisseur, so I’m very uppity when it comes to Japanese cuisine. I’ll try to be fair in this review and not be harsh. But it surely won’t glow either… As a fiend for Sea Urchin, I’m always disappointed when a restaurant says they do not carry it. And that is all the time. Iwa is no different, so I settled for rifling through their menu. Filled with pictures for the sushi-illiterate, or perhaps just being ultra-helpful, lots of their choices are overly in love with mayonnaise. Which is pretty Japanese of them, so can’t fault them on that one. It was truly reminiscent of my 8 months in Kyoto teaching conversational English back in the 90’s. I sat at the sushi bar and shot the breeze with the chef. Good guy with seemingly lots of experience. I left it to him to make the choices for me and he did so with good care, asking the right questions. Though you can’t be the BOGO deal(I came in for lunch), the only real serving that stood out to me was the eel roll. I liked the salmon skin also, but whatever is in that«eel sauce,» really makes that roll pop. Under no circumstances did I feel as if I was feeling the«Japanese experience» with this restaurant, but it’s A-OK and the rolls were just fine. I’ll go back some other time for some different menu options, and maybe my rating will change.
