Our first meeting with Donna was great! She was so sweet and friendly. She had a variety of cakes for us to try and they were delicious. She also took what my vision was with my cake and helped me come up with a design. After going several places we decided to go with Sweet Memories because we felt they had the best tasting cake and thought Donna would continue to be really helpful.
Well after we signed the contract and sent in our deposit that is where she stopped being so helpful. I tried to get a hold of her 4 months before our wedding to talk about the final design of the cake and actually pay her early, which you would think she would want. It took me a whole month to get a hold of her — phone call after phone call and email after email. I finally had to send a not so nice email and then finally she got back to me. I know things come up and sometimes it take some time to get back to someone but it was very unprofessional.
I then put that behind us ready to move on and get excited about the cake. Well I heard from my wedding planner that she had difficulty communicating with her as well. Then the day of the wedding came and the cake was WRONG! The look of it was wrong, it was a much simpler version of what we had discussed. It was also suppose to have 3 different flavors, which Donna and I discussed several times, we even talked about what layer I wanted the cutting layer to be. The cake we got was all one flavor. This cake was a 5 tier cake and it was not cheap — it was very expensive. When you spend several thousands of dollars on a cake you expect it to look like what you ordered.
Donna was apologetic and sweet about it but again it took me several phone calls and emails to get a hold of her. She eventually provided a 50% refund and sent us two small cakes with the two flavors we didn’t get. We appreciated her apology, refund, and cake but after all the issues we had I would NOT recommend this bakery. Way too many things went wrong.

I used Sweet Memories for 3 dozen cupcakes back in April for a friends bridal shower. So of course using them again was a no brainer as my daughter was turning one years old. I place an order a month in advance for 3 dozen cupcakes and a smash cake. We knew two flavors we wanted to use but wanted to sample a chocolate flavor cupcake before deciding on a chocolate flavor for the party. Well after calling multiple times for 2 weeks straight (Tara) can attest to that we ran into excuse after excuse of why they didn’t have cupcakes for sale and there was no wedding tray sample for us either. Well today (less than 2 weeks before my daughters birthday) I stop by because I was told they would have a tray to sample cakes and low and behold not only are there no cupcakes for sale and there is no wedding tray. So we said we will get a dozen chocolate cupcakes somewhere else and will take two dozen cupcakes and a smash cake. GUESS WHAT!!! We were told if we didn’t get 3 dozen cupcakes we could not get the smash cake. What reputable company says that knowing most decent bakeries want a two week notice. So we were given the choice to pick a randome third flavor to continue the order or cancel the entire order. So be very careful and mindful of placing any orders with this company. Do not do business with them unless you have a plan B or don’t care if they will change their minds. We were also told today that they would not be selling cupcakes any more except via special order. When I called multiple times for the past two weeks and they kept giving me excuses I should have RAN then but I was told despite the recent problems customer orders were their first priority. That was obviously a LIE. I am open and available if any from Sweet Memories would like to contact me to dispute any of the following comments. thank you for ruining my daughters first birthday party. I will never use your company again and will tell other people of this encounter.

I ordered an Italian rum cake here last year for a birthday. I was happy to find an Italian rum cake in NC. However, while the cake was good, it was not a traditional Italian rum cake. I notice it is no longer on the menu.

Looks perfect on the outside — colorful and beautiful as they look like made with Play Doh. Great for display and I assure you that you’ll get «Wow!» from your guests.
Sponge is coarse, cream is sugary in an unpleasant way. Strawberry short cake doesn’t have enough strawberries inside (or outside). Fondant could be edible but not recommended because of funny smell and taste like chemicals.
Well, everyone has a different taste. This is just not my favorite.

I thought Sweet Memories did a beautiful job on our wedding cake. It was very pretty and extremely good. Even better, they made a fresh ‘cake tier’ for our 1 year anniversary, as opposed to having to freeze the actual wedding cake. They decorated it to match our original wedding cake and we were able to enjoy it on our anniversary. It was also an extremely generous portion! I would recommend Sweet Memories.

My friend recently had a baby shower and we knew we wanted Sweet Memories to create the cake!
My husband and I had gotten our wedding cake from there so there was absolutely no doubt in our minds that it wouldn’t be delicious!
True to form, it did not disappoint!

I recently did a wedding cake consultation at Sweet Memories Bakery. The cake flavors and fillings all tasted wonderful, fresh, and moist. Where we ran into trouble was the way in which things were being run. My major points of contention are:
(1) I had to pay a $ 25 charge to taste wedding cake. That has not happened to me at any other bakery. Further, I had to pay this fee over the phone, which I was rather uncomfortable with because I’d have preferred to have done it in person.
(2) They were asking me other details about my wedding and what other vendors I was planning to use. They were very judgmental and said «oh…that vendor» but then would give no further detail on it. If they had something to say, I’d prefer they had overtly said it or have said nothing at all. Period. I thought that was unprofessional. They were also really pushing their own preferred vendors really hard on me, which leads me to believe that they probably got some sort of referral bonus.
(3) I felt a little guilt tripped about my decision to not do a groom’s cake. Not everyone has the budget to do two, several hundred (or even $ 1000) cakes.
(4) When I was leaving for the day, I asked if I could take a picture of the cake sketch with my phone so I could show my mom to get her opinion on it. They wouldn’t actually let me do that because they said they didn’t want me taking the sketch to another bakery and having them replicate it. First of all, it wasn’t a particularly intricate drawing. Second, if they feel that way, why put samples of their work on their website?
Ultimately, I ended up choosing a different bakery to do my cake (actually one of the ones they were talking bad about), who will do a more elaborate design, drew a legitimate sketch that I could take a picture of, and will charge $ 300 less. The cakes at Sweet Memories were delicious, but the management left a bad taste in my mouth.

We wanted to include our dog with our wedding cake, since she couldn’t be at the wedding. Sweet Memories said they did make some amazing figurines and showed us pictures of one. It was amazing and we were sold! ($ 150 for a three inch dog figurine that would last forever with proper care). We did not get to see it before the wedding day or reception we were going on their good reputation. When we walked up to the cake and saw the figurine it looked TERRIBLE! It looked like they slapped it together on the way over to the Highgrove! They didn’t even finish painting it! It was definitely not worth $ 150!
Even though there were slip ups on the Highgrove Estates side of the cake, it didn’t affect the taste of the cake. I will say though if the Highgrove a Estates had told us the cake would not have been included I would have gone with another bakery. We ended up paying close to $ 800 for our plain white cake with chocolate espresso and cannoli cake inside and a crappy dog figurine that I can’t bear throwing away knowing how much it cost!

We had such a great experience with Sweet Memories Bakery. From a last minute cake tasting– to the most beautiful, most delicious wedding cake we could have ever asked for. Danielle was very helpful and our cake turned out perfectly. We went with a four tier, Lemon Poppy Seed Pound Cake with Lemon Curd and Raspberry filling, all covered in the most delicious Lemon Buttercream. We didn’t get to eat more than just our ‘cut the cake’ bite, since we were so busy, but what we did taste was incredible. Ten months later and people are STILL commenting on our delicious wedding cake. We can’t wait for our fresh anniversary topper!

We visited this bakery while searching for a bakery for our wedding cake last year. We were really unimpressed with this place. It seemed like we were inconveniencing them by being there. They ran 15 minutes late on our appointment, dropped plates infront of us and walked away for 15 minutes. Running late was very inconvenient because they weren’t willing to work with our schedules, so we took off work to be there and they left us sitting and waiting.
The flavors provided for tasting were just average and the prices certainly reflected their inflated opinion of themselves («we were on Food Network, blah blah blah»).
The prices were insanely high, the service/​attentiveness/​desire for business sucked.
I recommend looking into other bakeries, we opted for Simply Cakes in Cary.

If you want a flawless cake, this is the place. I have used them a number of times for birthday cakes. Everyone has been flawless and rich in taste. You will pay for it, but wait till you see your party goers smile when they bite into there cake. it is worth it, and guess what, you are the star.
Nothing but complements here, the cakes are excellent and I have found no better in the area. Yes, you can find less expensive, but when you demand the best this is the place.
I think they should have a TV show.

While our wedding was one of the most fun nights I’ve ever had, I still regret that I didn’t eat as much cake as I wanted. Regardless, for those who are able to stuff their faces with wedding cake, definitely check out Sweet Memories. Not only is the tasting time delicious, but the cakes are beautiful and well-​received!
It’s been a few years since our wedding but I recall the ladies at Sweet Memories were well organized and great to work with. Our wedding day was hot as all hell and they were very careful to ensure that the cake was lookin’ gorgeous despite the heat. We went with a raspberry, white chocolate and chocolate ganache cake topped with chocolate buttercream. Are your drooling yet? You should be.
Price wise expect to shell out a fair amount of coin for your good looking and tasty cake, but hey, a wedding is a big day. Go for it.
