Best food in all of Wisconsin! I had the BBQ ribs, pulled port and BBQ baked beans, all were amazing! Large portions left me feeling full with leftovers for lunch tomorrow!

we went there for a couple lunches on valentines weekend. its great food. everything we had to eat was sooooo good. and the staff was so nice. getting the order was a bit slow but I think they were short staffed at the time… but they really did a fine job over all. i’d say, if you are in Appleton… be sure to stop by there for lunch or dinner. good food, good prices, good people!

I had a taste for chicken and waffles and the husband found this place. And I am so glad he did! Get the chicken and waffles, they are amazing. We were definitely stuffed after our meal! We will absolutely be back the next time I need some waffles!

Went here yesterday for the first time after wanting to visit for awhile now. Boy was I disappointed… that I didn’t come soooner! I grew up in the south(Winston Salem, NC) which is obviously known for good fried chicken. Well, up until now I hadn’t found what I considered excellent friend chicken in Wisconsin. I’ll definitely be back and suggest you check it out too if you haven’t been.

Great food and great atmosphere! The Jess was unbelievable and the Cajun Catfish was awesome! Love the Jazz/Blues mix. There is a wait, but it is worth it. Sit back, have a beverage and enjoy the music!

I would give them a solid 4.5 stars. This was the best catfish I’ve had in a long time. It was moist and perfectly fried without being greasy. It had been cleaned really well with no muddy flavors you sometimes get. The fried chicken was the same, not greasy but juicy and flavorful. Garlic mashed were good with nice smooth gravy. The red beans and rice had sausage and a nice spicy heat. I actually would have liked just a little bit more rice but was still happy. The only thing that wasn’t GREAT on the plate was the ribs. The texture and chew were right but not much smoke or heat. The sweet BBQ sauce just tasted bland after all the other wonderful flavors.

Previously this place was very good. I’ll start with the one positive. The deep fried catfish(Cajun) was pretty good. Sorry to say, I have nothing good to say about anything else. Mashed potatoes and gravy were tasteless and fake(instant). Red beans and rice are much better if you buy them form a «Z» box in the store. All I tasted was water. Sides(mashed«fake» potatoes and red beans and rice were not hot). Smoked ribs were almost cold but actually smoked 10 hours ago and kept warm. I really do feel sorry for the nice owner. Her employees are burning her money. It is a shame since the food was very good about 1 year ago. People go out to eat for something they can’t prepare themselves, not TV dinner food. Wish I had more good things to say but I am only sharing this since I was so displeased.

Oh. My. God. To DYEFOR! The chicken and waffles was more than I could have ever expected. It was perfectly delicious, and must have been a family recipe. The waffles were crunchy and fluffy at the same time, and… Just. YUM! I’ll be back!!!

First time here. Previous reviews were accurate. Food is salty and place is cool. Loved the music playing, although I suspect the employees are sick of it. Ordered 2 meats &2 sides. I went traditional with fried chicken, ribs, red beans & rice and collard greens. Everything was great, but I do have to say that I’ve given collard greens enough chances. No matter how I have had them prepared, they are not my favorite. Place closes at 8 pm on week nights. I arrived after 7 and I was the last one in the restaurant. Suggest you arrive a little earlier so you don’t get caught up in the closing ritual of moving tables & sweeping floors.

You need to get in and enjoy this! FANTASTIC fried chicken, excellent ribs and even waffles! But the sides are worth the trip alone! Every bite a winner!

Went here for dinner with my dad, and we both enjoyed it. I ordered the Fried chicken and Cajun catfish with hush puppies and red beans and rice for the two meat meal. The breaking on the fried chicken was great, thin and crispy. The catfish was also good, although I could have handled even a little more zing to the seasoning. The red beans and rice were also nicely seasoned. This ended up being enough leftovers for lunch the next day! My dad ordered the ribs and barbecued chicken and enjoyed both. The décor was fun, and the service was friendly. We will be returning!

I am all about this place. I will add my note that yes, much of the food here is salty but that’s what sweet tea was invented for. Every time you walk in the Cozzy Corner, the Funk Brothers(the world’s most amazing hit machine ever) are pumping out the Motown sound on the speakers and you are greeted by a great family of staff who know they’ve got a good thing going. Red beans and rice! No matter what I get, I can’t resist their red beans and rice. Also, collard greens are good. Smoked sausage and fried chicken and the sweet tea I mentioned. I don’t do okra so I couldn’t tell you okra lovers how it is. When I leave Cozzy’s my mouth is burning from all the salt – and I usually have enjoyed every bite.

Tried this place for the first time last night. Overall impression? Mostly ok. The service is very underwhelming. Not unpleasant, but they definitely don’t extend themselves in any way. We got our menus fast enough, but that’s it. After we ordered, it probably took 25 minutes to get our food. It was not busy, maybe 4 other tables of people in the place. No check in, no explanation of what was going on, nothing. However, once the food arrived, it was delicious. I had the chicken and waffles and it was on point. 3 pieces of perfectly fried chicken, over a well-spiced waffle, drizzled in syrup. Definitely would go back for the food, but the service needs work.

I enjoyed how we got there at 7pm on a Saturday and didn’t have to wait for a seat. Service was nice and quick. Baby back ribs were very good and tender. Cajun Fish were a huge disappointment. No spice, and no flavor whatsoever in the batter. Mac n cheese was average. Not cheesy at all. Mashed Potatoes and gravy was average. I would hit up a Famous Dave’s before I come back here.

Absolutely wonderful. All of the classics of Southern soul classics were brilliantly represented: ribs, fried chicken, pulled pork, catfish, red beans and rice, yams, mac and cheese, and collards. Décor is vinyl records, colorful murals, and red booths. Soul and funk on the sound track. Our server was a kid, but she knew the menu well and was attentive on our drinks. My only criticism was that they served Pepsi instead of Coke and didn’t serve beer. My Kool-aid was an excellent substitute, but it was truly my third option.

This place has some very good comfort food. I elected to have the fried chicken and mac and cheese. Both were good but nothing I would call outstanding. The price can’t be beat for the food quality. The waitress was very pleasant and the diner has lots of records posted on the walls and the ceiling. I know some of you are way to young to remember what a record is but I assure you they are the real vinyl 33 rpm deal! The murals on the wall were worth the visit and I would say it is worth the stop if you are in Appleton. The service was a bit slow but the solo waitress had her hands full. Don’t forget to check out the«Good Times» original lunchbox and the photo signed by JJ Walker(Not Gov. Scott Walker) during his visit to the café.
