I’m from out of town. I came here because Unilocal told me they have good coffee. And they do! My Americano was made well, and judging by the roaster in the window, I assume that their coffee is relatively fresh. The vibe is cozy, which is nice on a cold Wisconsin winter day. But styrofoam cups? Even if I order my coffee«for here»? I can’t bring myself to revisit this place for that reason alone. If I do come back, I’ll have to remember to bring my own mug.

Hippie Coffee for the Win. Not sure what it is about hippies and coffee, but put them together and you get some great coffee places. Everything here is either a pour over or an espresso — no drip coffee sitting in a pot, so you will have to wait while they make it for you. They also have some really nice coffee options(pick whichever you want, they brew it for you right then), including real Kona(which is a little pricy, but hey, it’s real Kona, and no, the Kona«blends» you have had are not real Kona). Inside is fine, a little scuffy(hippie coffee, remember?), but the wifi is free. Food is… well, it is as good as Starbucks, which means not really that good. Overall, the coffee quality makes up for the food being meh, so it has to be five stars. Plus it’s kind of fun rocking the place in a suit amongst the hippies.

The coffee is good, although served in styrofoam to go, paper cups is my preferred to go cup of coffee as it doesn’t seem to change the flavor of coffee. Very eclectic shop, somehow coffee and fast has escaped these folks, like I already said the coffee is good but getting that coffee is an exercise in patience, with one customer in front of me it took over 10 minutes, I won’t be back, especially with a show at the theater, one employee behind the counter seems cruel to the employee. 5 stars for product, one star for service, no half stars allowed so this place gets overall two stars

This is our new spot. Great location, great atmosphere. We are addicted to their white chocolate espresso bites. We keep them in the fridge and basically take them like aspirin ;) Great latte, great macchiato. I have yet to come across a bitter brew. You know the bitter I’m talking about. Not once. We always leave happy and rarely go anywhere else.

Awesomely made coffee, fresh ground and dripped by the cup, in a classic college town eclectic and comfortable space. Best coffee I’ve had in a long time. Better and cheaper than the chain places.

I’ve been coming here for years… Even since I’ve moved to the East Coast, I come in to stock up on the Sumatra whenever I am in Appleton. This is another level of coffee; and I find myself missing Acoca when I drink anything else. Great atmosphere, location, and the owner, Roy, is a great guy. Do yourself a favor and go here!

Pretty tasty, had the espresso a few times and an Americano. Roast the beans in house, resulting in some very good coffee. I think I payed two something for a double espresso. Don’t know much about coffee, but it was quite good. Nice atmosphere in the place, some comfy seating in the middle and some metal chairs with cushions. The tables were heavy and stable, which is awesome… Nothing more annoying than trying to read/write/do anything with a cup of coffee on a rickety table. It was a bit cold both times I was there. Also, their hours are better than most other places downtown.

I don’t like giving bad reviews but I got excited when I saw that this place roasted their own beans. I got a latte like I normally do at coffee shops. I like giving smaller shops a shot because I hate Starbucks but I honestly would have rather had Starbucks than what I had here. The roaster gave an allusion of quality coffee but watching the barista quickly pull a shot and dump some lukewarm steam milk in a crappy to go cup angered me as I am someone who is practicing my espresso skills. It just saddens me to know people give this place good ratings believing this is good coffee. My advice would be for the workers to turn their job into a form of art and work on your skills.

AWESOME coffee! My wife and I were here for a few days, and drank her a couple times. They roast their beans in house; super fresh coffee! DELICIOUS

I’m addicted! This coffee shop will spoil you… now it’s hard for me to drink any other coffee! LOVE the pour over method! Low acidity and just a smooth, strong, full flavored cup of Joe! Roasting their own is also a plus… but drinking MY own fresh cup is so much better than coffee that’s sitting around for?? idunno? Downside is sometimes it might take longer than the average coffee shop… but this isn’t an average coffee shop! It’s much better!

Wir waren eigentlich nur auf der Durchreise und haben das Café durch Zufall gefunden. Ein absoluter Geheimtipp. Viel Auswahl, leckeren Kaffee… Ein toller Ort um kurz innezuhalten. It’s a nice place to relax and to drink the ice mocha coffee. Il caffe e’ buono anche per un italiano(c e ’ anche l’espresso). S. from Germany & M. from Italy

If you want a decadent pick me up, you have to try an espresso shake! The fair trade coffee is amazingly flavorful!

My first time here. The three other coffee shops that I know of on College Ave. were closed, this was the only one open on an early Sunday morning. Glad I stopped in. Seating is just a smidge sparse, but comfy. A few tables, a bar, and a few squishy, sink-into-them couches. The coffee roaster is right out front, where you can watch the process– kinda fun. Their menu is pretty standard for a coffee house– coffee and tea, smoothies, bagels, biscotti, and scones. Don’t think they make sandwiches or anything more substantial. But thats ok, its good to keep focused on the beans. They also serve Chocolate Shoppe ice cream, a local super premium brand. Its good stuff– I highly recommend giving the brand a try if you haven’t yet. As mentioned above, they roast their own beans. Not being terribly knowledgeable about coffee, I can’t really compare or contrast it to other places. But, I do know its delicious and hits the spot. The service was friendly and prompt. The mocha I ordered was pretty good, not overly sweet like some other places, but just right. Overall? I wasn’t wowed, but definitely wasn’t disappointed either and couldn’t find fault with anything. Its a nice, homey, not-too-hipster place to stop and enjoy a beverage or snack.

The Zanzibar Chocolate ice cream from the Chocolate Shoppe(a Wisconsin ice cream maker) may be the best I’ve ever had. ‘Nuff said.

I was in Wisconsin on business recently, and ended up coming to this joint by accident. I have to say it was pretty lucky i stumbled upon them. It became my daily ritual. Any coffee house with a roaster in the front window is definitely worth looking into. Trisha, the manager is a coffee nerd, snob, geek… just like me. I loved the fact they default to a straight pour over. She even told me, i could use an Aeropress if i wanted. WOW!!! Who keeps those on hand for their customers? Coffee the way it was intended. Espresso was lucisous full of crema! Oh so good. I think she served me the Ethiopian Yirgacheffe! Best coffee in Appleton. No doubt about it. I tried the rest. No one compares.

Started coming here after my main coffee shop closed. They make a pretty good latte and the service is generally pretty good… quirky at times but its a coffee shop right? Cool atmosphere too. GIve it a try!

So, i think that it’s time for me to call it quits with this place. Whenever you find yourself peeking in the window to see if it’s the“good barista” or the«bad barista» that’s working it might be time to try something new. Good concept in theory but I’ve experienced too may grumpy servers and too many luke-warm drinks to continue going there for java.

Great service at this comfortable and homey coffee shop on College Avenue. The drip coffee tasted great, and did I see a bean roaster in the corner? I think so! They have tons of flavors to make your latte yummy, and for the kids a toasted marshmallow milk steamer should do the trick! Get comfortable on one of the two couches, or pull up a stool and admire the nice local art. Acoca can’t be beat on College Ave.
