Starbucks

This is my favorite Starbucks I have ever been to, so I was naturally upset when I read the Post-​Crescent article that it would be shutting down in May.
The baristas here are some of the friendliest and kindest I have ever had the pleasure of interacting with. I have written many college papers here because it has the perfect ambiance. I love the way the furniture is set up and that they introduced a powerstrip so there was never a shortage of outlets.
What I love about this Starbucks is that, on your average day, there will usually be more people sitting there on their laptops doing work than teens or housewives having loud gossip sessions like I’ve experienced at other locations.
The last time I went to this Starbucks (which will probably be my last before it closes), the barista told me that my order (tall non-​fat no whip hot chocolate) was paid for already. I asked, «Really? How?» She said, «A customer left a gift card here to pay for several of the drink orders today.» I was completely floored by the kindness, but I’m not at all surprised that something like this would happen at this Appleton Starbucks.

It’s Starbucks, but it’s horrible. I never really expect much out of them but I do expect to get what I order. This was the worst stop of my day in Appleton. Bad service and bad drinks.

Starbucks is Starbucks, but this one gets 5 stars for the really nice staff and for being the only coffee shop on College Ave. Open Easter Sunday. People still need Caffeine on Holidays!

This particular Starbucks changed my opinion of the entire company. I had always viewed Starbucks as a big, bad conglomerate company that produced unfeeling, impersonal stores. After moving to Appleton, I tried all of the popular independent coffee shops and was unimpressed with the aloof staff. One fall evening I wandered into this store, almost by accident, and was warmly greeted. The beverage quality was well above average for a Starbucks, so I returned the next night to see if had just stumbled in on a good night. I was impressed to find more of the same. Needless to say, I became a regular. I’m now on first name basis with most of the staff, and I’ve noticed that many other customer are as well.
Good Starbucks stores are hit and miss, but this store is consistently one of the best.
