Good Company

I was surprised to see the reviews and ratings were so low for Good Company on Unilocal.Being from out of town, we always try and visit the restaurant when we pass through. Sadly, our experience was similar to other diners. Management needs to step in ASAP, as something needs to change quick!
The hostess was rude when we arrived. We had a party of five and you would have thought we walked in with 30 people without notice. After being seated during a slower time in the restaurant, it took 10 minutes to be greeted and for our drink order.
Although most of the food was ok, it wasn’t the same quality as in past visits. In addition, the waitress did not do a great job coming back to the table for drink refills or check ins.
Overall very disappointing for a good
Restaurant.

Go for the Bloody Marys. Don’t waste your time with the Happy Hour Taco Bar.

Cheese curd sucks! Food is so slow. We were there for 2 hrs. The place wasnt busy at all! Cheese curd wasnt cooked long enough. How can you make bad cheese curd???
Greens in salad wasnt fresh. You can tell it old.
I ordered fish fry. It was alright fish fry. Not good nor bad.

Good Company, an Appleton exclusive restaurant. Good Company is ok, the atmosphere is nice but the food isn’t anything special. They’re menu is almost too big, they offer Italian, burgers, sandwiches, and Mexican… The food just seems random

We’re from out of town for an evening business meeting here. We were sat at an upstairs table and wanted to have a few drinks before ordering our food. Since the restaurant is huge, we thought it wouldn’t be a problem. The server kept hounding us for a food order even though we were drinking most of our bill. We finally ordered food and as I was coming out of the bathroom overheard the server complaining about us. He then came to tell us his shift was almost over and we needed to close out Instead of giving us an alternative option (:so and so can take care of you” or «the bar is open until…»). I’ve been in the service industry but know where my tip is coming from. The more we spend on drinks, the larger the tip.

Haven’t been to Good Co in a few years. Wife and I were in town to see some friends and decided to try it again. To start server was not friendly, not rude just not friendly. I had the lasagna, which was not bad, sauce tasted like it was from a can. My wife had the cod dinner and it actually tasted worse than vandekamps that you buy in the supermarket. Atmosphere is the same as 20 years ago. Not sure will be back.

Meh. My family and I came here for lunch one afternoon. Basic American fare. The prices are reasonable and the appetizers are better than the entrees!
The service was fine but I can barely remember who our waiter or waitress was.
I would have to say the hot liquor drinks (in winter) and the gummy worm dirt cup drink for kids was the highlight, as well as local lore that the joint is haunted. Lol

This is mine and my boyfriends favorite restaurant! We are both from Illinois, so when family or friends visit we bring our family there for something different than a food chain. Everyone loves it and always wants to go again when they come back! It has really neat décor and has the friendliest servers. Another point is that they are able to read their guest, they don’t try and rush you out, but they get you your food as quick as they can so if you are in a rush you aren’t sitting there for two hours!
My favorite dish is their Company Burger and their French Onion soup! HUGE burger and lots of fries for a great price. Overall, Good Company is cheap for the service and quality of food that you get.
I recommend this place to everyone!!!

I think a previous poster summed it up best when she said that her family has been going there for so long even though the food is not «out of this world good». This is a place people go to when they are in a rut or afraid to try something new. It’s «better than nothing». It’s the same obligatory Amer-​Mex-​Ital food you can get anywhere. Nothing stands out. It’s a shame because the building itself is beautiful. If they put as much creativity into their food as they do the atmosphere they may last another 10yrs.

The food is okay, the servers are usually nice to us, and I love the little library room, but that’s about it. The food almost always makes one of us sick. Any time you’re in a bathroom stall too long, the automatic lights go out and you’re sitting there in the dark, which is just unsettling because there is NO light. And I recently had a young lady come to me in tears telling me that the people who work here were laughing and making fun of her based on her appearance. Talk about unprofessional…

I’ve been to the Good Company multiple times and its always just ok, nothing too special. Their portions are a good size, but for the price I would expect higher quality. The one thing they do have going for them is their happy hour, they have a great happy hour with a awesome taco bar Monday — Thursday.

Had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. We’re in the state of cheese, but the nachos were covered with processed, canned cheese that you could get a high school basketball game. The tortellini was something I could have EASILY made at home, and it would have been cheaper and tasted better. The sauce on the noodles tasted like a plain white sauce with a meager amount of cheese thrown in. Nothing was hot. I will not be visiting this establishment again. This was anything but Good Company.
The best part of the evening was watching all the high schoolers attempting to walk in super high heels while attending dinner on their homecoming dance night.

Today at Good Company, my meal earned the restaurant a clean 5 star rating. Not only because the steak I had was juicy and succulent, but because it was juicy and succulent on a night when the restaurant was unreasonably busy.
Outstanding stuff. Exceptional atmosphere, and good food.

There is nothing spectacular to write about this place. The food was alright. I had the steak tenderloin 10 ounce as the waitress recommended. It was okay. I’ve prepared and made better at home. EVERYTHING was just okay, edible but nothing was rememorable. Would I go back if ever visiting again? No. I would recommend Fratellos Riverfront Restaurant. Cannot go wrong there. Pleasing in so many ways.

Good food and a really nice atmosphere, the only disappointment is there is a picture of Hornsby’s Draft Cider on the menu, yet when asked they don’t sell it.

Broke a golden rule… Read the Unilocal reviews as I was sitting in the restaurant!!! There is a reason that after 42 reviews this place gets a 2.5!
The few points might be for semi quick service or the cool atmosphere but I would be surprised if it is the food! I had below average «loaded» potato soup… Warm (at best) and a few lumps of potato and some fake bacon bits. Bland and blah.
My Rueben simply sucked! The sandwich was only warm enough to slightly melt the cheese. The meat was processed sliced corned beef… No flavor at all except the thousand island sauce and toasted bread!
Too bad, this seems like it could be a fun place to eat. The staff should have some pep to make the décor. Our waitress brought no enthusiasm to the table whatsoever. She would have fit in better at the local diner slinging hash.
Everything about Good Company is lukewarm… the staff, the soup and the sandwich.

The décor is kitschy, which I happen to like, but the food is just okay. The soup I had when dining here was not particularly flavorful and it was lukewarm. The service was kind of «meh» because our waitress was not very attentive or friendly. The price should be lower for the food you get, which is akin to a fast food joint.
The few times I’ve eaten there, my dining companions felt similarly «meh» about the food. I feel like this place is pretending to be something it’s not or is confused what it is, if that makes any sense at all.
Would I return? If someone were treating me to a meal and selected this restaurant, I would politely suggest that we go elsewhere because their money is better spent elsewhere. This place isn’t awful, but you can get so much more bang for your buck in Appleton.

Typical American fare food. Comparable to most national chains but does have a local feel to the décor. I enjoyed all the local trinkets on the walls and the booth was a cozy quiet atmosphere.
I tried the Southwest wrap which included jalepenos so I was excited for the little extra kick! My coworker had the nachos with chicken added. It was so large there was no way to finish it. Fries had a good seasoning to them and they were substantial.. . not those shoestring stlye ones.
This restaurant would be a great choice for a group that has all sorts of different tastes to accomodate everyones favorite.
