Not a place I would recommend for Mexican. I ordered chili rellanos and my friend got the beef nachos and both of us were disappointed. The rellano tasted like there was melted(cold soupy) white American cheese in the middle and the center wasn’t even warm and melted(more like a solid hunk of cheese). My friends nachos were topped with unseasoned beef and hardly any cheese and was just boring. No flavor… Both our meals weren’t even warm…

I don’t usually leave reviews unless the food is amazing… however with this place amazing is not the case. I ordered food for delivery. I ordered the chicken chimichanga and beef taquitos but they sent chicken taquitos instead. Ok no big deal. I got halfway through the 2nd taquito and found a hair. Lovely. Who doesn’t love hair in what they are eating right? I tried a few bites of the chimichanga. Not impressed. I might has well of ordered taco bell. The only thing that was remotely ok was the Horchata. I’m not a picky eater by any means but this is just ridiculous. Never again.

Not one of my favorite places. I typically save reviews for places I like. But I also appreciate when others share some not so good experiences so I can consider it when making a decision. The place is small and so is the menu. It’s not that the food was bad it’s just that it wasn’t real good either. The flavors were plan. The salsa was very watery and was served in a small plastic container like the ones you might find butter in with a to go order. The meat was lightly seasoned. I tried two pork tacos and a steak burrito.

Had all pastor tacos and a tamale. All pastor was flavorful and tender along with nice soft tortillas. The tamale was good but I didn’t expect it to have cheese on it. They gave me two different salsas to go with. The green was great. Didn’t care for the mild as much. Very nice people working there. Would go back for sure.

I have been here 3 times, each time the food has been good. The chicken fajitas were tasty, as well as the Burrito Mexicana. I ordered the chicken burrito and the chicken was nicely shredded white meat, very good. Only negative comment would be that not enough salsa with the chips, we like big bowls of salsa! It was nice to be in a different atmosphere aside from the usual Mexican places.

Don’t think the stellar reviews are warranted but it is pretty good. Sauces were more flavorful than at many places, table salsa was good but meager. Very straight forward home style cooking. Music was too loud for me but some like that. Something was off in the atmosphere, didn’t feel very friendly, not sure why.

I was fooled by the stellar reviews below. This place is junk. Canned chicken posing as shredded chicken… are you for real? A shot glass sized to-go container of salsa for a table of four? Stale chips? Hotdog flavored bean dip? Taco salad that comes in a plate of the canned chicken juice? If these are considered«authentic Mexican» foods then I’ve been fooled by all other authentic Mexican restaurants. Oh did I mention the chewed up piece of gum waiting at the table for us?

In terms of ambiance, it’s not much to speak of. However, the quality of the food is what makes this place a must try on your list. I had the chicken flautas which were the best I’ve had anywhere. My husband has the California Burrito and loved it. Authentic, fresh, and delicious! Craving quality Mexican, than Josh’s place is the spot!

Jason H. I want to thank you for your review of this place because if it hadn’t been for you, we would have been endlessly searching for authentic Chicago style Mexican food. Although we have been to quite a few places in the Fox Valley area that were very good, none of them made us feel like home. I grew up in the Logan Square area so when I saw your review of Josh’s, I looked at my hub and was like«we have nothing to lose at this point, lol.» It’s less than 5 minutes from my house. I got the burrito exactly like you suggested and we are in love. Thank you so much for your review. Chicago people, THISISTHEPLACEFORAUTHENTICCHICAGOMEXICAN! oh and don’t forget to go to the bakery next door. Good Lord!

Best Mexican in The Fox Valley. I lived in Logan Square in Chicago for a while so I am a tough critic of authentic Mexican. Ask for the a Steak Burrito Jalico(rice and beans inside, covered in red sauce) but ask for Steak and Chorizo together. One of the best Burritos I’ve had. Really Nice people, local taqueria atmosphere. Definite 5 star.

We were in the mood for mexican food and we wanted to try this place out. We usually go to Soleas, El Aztecas, or Mr Tacos. When we got there the place was pretty empty, so we were concerned. The lady at the desk greeted and seated us and was super nice. We didnt know what there specialty was, so we just ordered burrito supremos. We ate chips and salsa for awhile and then the food came out… WOW it looked awsome. It was delicous, filled with tender steak, white chicken breast, red and green peppers and onion. We ate about half of it and took the rest home. If you want some excellent food for a reasonable price, check this place out! Service was great!

Okay, so this place undoubtedly has some kinks to work out(website listed on your business card but not actually functioning? randomly adding«Jalapenos» onto the front of your business name?), but what’s important here is the food. And it’s good. An atypical name for a Mexican restaurant, Josh’s Place delivers some delicious eats. The chips and salsa were good, and my companion and I even liked the bean dip which, though a staple at Wisconsin tables, is not usually to our taste. I ordered the tamales(4 for $ 7, or 12 for $ 15) and he got a combination plate. Though our waiter was somewhat clinical in his service, he did bring a few different dishes by our table(on their way out the door to other customers) to show us some options for future dinners. Next time we’re getting the tacos! Food was great, horchata was okay(but ordering it will make you look like you know what you’re doing, especially if you’re a non-Spanish speaker), and I’d definitely recommend it to my friends. Josh’s Place is a great addition to the Mexican choices in the Valley.
