After over ten years of using Kohl’s as our primary «just about everything» store, they nicked my credit rating (then @ 735) over a 30-​day late $ 5.00 balance. It was a result of a double billing (that they admitted was their fault) which we beloved had been taken care of. Issue was discovered on Day 44.
Local store tried to help but was unable to override Corporate. Contacted corporate numerous times. Each of 4 attempts resulted in auto mailings saying (essentially) that’s late was late. 5th contact include calling Corp managers and following their email advise. Included in my advisement was that another auto response, instead of a personal response, would result in loosing me as a decade+ long $ 2000 – 4000 annual customer.
They sent me the same auto response. Skewed my credit rating to 695.
I now shop JC Penny with better deals and personal customer service. In Speaking to their Corp once, they were stunned by Kohl’s responses.
Kohl’s loss — my 7 yr credit nick, but happier shopping days.

I only shop at Kohls when I have a percentage off, or I wouldn’t shop there, prices are way too much for the quality of the merchandise, it has gone downhill lately. I do use my charge card, which I forgot to pay on time, I was three weeks late, so I received a late notice, I did pay two days later, but those two days before that I was harrassed on the phone, which i didn’t appreciate. Customer service should be what’s important!

The quality of the clothing has dropped drastically. The clothing selection as I have grown not only in size, but age has dwindled too. Sizes are only in a certain window and if you’re not in that window, good luck in finding clothes here.
Household items such as shelves and frames are terrible quality for the price you pay. The finish is worn or the glass is scuffed or broken.
Unless I have a coupon, which requires I use my Kohl’s card, I do not shop here. The coupons are the only things that make me consider shopping here.

Depending on the sale, it can get messy and hard to find things. But they do have good sales, and clothes selection seems to be improving.
