I would never visit PostNet on East Calumet again, due to their poor terrible customer service and lack of familiarity with technology(which is critical for printing). It started this morning with a phone call to them. I had some questions about my print job. I spoke to the co-owner(wife/female). She answered my questions nicely. One question I had was when they could get my project done if I brought it in right away. She thought that they could do it the same day and if not, by tomorrow morning. Another question I had was if they had the same prices in the store as online. She told me that they should. So, I went to PostNet with my files to print. I waited for about 15 minutes while the co-owners(husband and wife) helped three people in front of me. Based on the interaction of the wife with one of the customers, it was clear that she was not very computer savvy. The husband apologized for the wait and said they would be with me in a minute. When it was my turn, I gave the husband a brief description of my project and handed him my storage device. He loaded it onto his computer. Within seconds, I could tell that he also struggled with computers. It took him a couple minutes to open the first file and get it ready for printing. The file was a .pdf — fortunately I didn’t give him the Photoshop file which his wife told me over the phone they could also use. He then proceeded to set up to print 500 copies, without getting specific details. Fortunately, I stopped him and filled him on more details, including the specific paper type I wanted. Before he went back to printing, he asked me when I needed the project by. I said today and he asked if tomorrow was alright. I said tomorrow morning would be fine(as that was consistent with the expectation over the phone). He told me that was not possible — that the best they could do was tomorrow afternoon. I told him what his wife said over the phone and he wouldn’t budge. Instead of giving him an affirmative response, I asked him to verify the price. After a couple minutes of plunking away on his system, he came up with a price that was about 4 times as expensive as the website quote(~$ 300 versus ~$ 70)! I asked him why and he said that it was because the project would be printed outside of the store. I asked him if he could do any better. He then played with his system for another couple of minutes while I confirmed the online price. I told him what the online price was and he again said it was because it was printed outside and that the project would take a week for me to get. I asked him if there were any next day options online and he said that there were and then he gave me a couple of prices for expediting the job and expediting the shipping. He made it seem like the charges were a lot(i.e. I should order from him instead). I told him that his price was still three times higher than the website. He tried to tell me that I would be charged for cutting fees also and I told him that I was going to order a standard size(4×6) from the website, so there wouldn’t be any cutting. He then told me it would take at least three days for me to get it, even if I paid all of the next day fees. I explained to him that his wife had told me over the phone that the in-store prices were the same as the internet and I asked if he could make any adjustments — he said no. My project was small enough that multiple images could be printed on a single page. So, I told him that and asked if printing multiple pages per sheet would make the project cheaper. He said it would, but then asked if I had a file with multiple pages per sheet. I told him I didn’t have one with me and asked if he had the capability to print multiple pages per sheet. He said he could, but there would be an additional design charge. At that time I told him I was not interested and I didn’t not even receive an apology for all of the time that I wasted.
