I wish we would have picked a different place to stay the room was highly out of date the only good thing was the sleep number bed but we had to plug it in and found the remote hidden behind the night stand. The room had a drop ceiling in the bathroom and by the shower there was mold growing and less then 6 inches between the shower head and tiles. My husband who is 6 ft tall couldn’t take a normal shower bc the head was soo low. For being a hotel where the nfl teams comes you would think that the rooms would be a lot nicer.

This is not a holiday inn express. It’s a high end hotel, where you get what you pay for. Stayed in the concierge side, which is more expensive, but has nice benefits Clean rooms, very comfortable beds and hot showers. That’s a three star. It’s a little old and its not cheap — 1 Sleep number bed +1 Good on site bar, restaurant and excellent room service, +1 Concierge level with quiet floor, comp drinks and apps. +1 High end 42 inch lg flat screen, fridge, micro +1 Nice furnishings, super fast wifi(16m) Starbucks coffee available in the café at 5am on weekdays +1000 I stay here on business trips, and I like it. It is my number one hotel for actually feeling as though I am experiencing some thing nice.

Just spent three days here for a conference and liked the hotel very much. Staff was friendly and courteous; the rooms were clean and comfortable, including the bed. Had dinner in Lombardi’s and will review that separately. The pool is in the center of the hotel but it is enclosed so the humidity doesn’t leak into the lobby. All the public areas were clean and pleasant. The hotel lost a star for two reasons. One: the lobby area and meetings rooms were so cold that I had to buy a sweatshirt to be comfortable. My light summer sweater wasn’t doing the job. The extreme chill was the topic of much conversation. Two: the catered food(breakfast and a banquet meal) was edible but that’s the best I can say for it. The eggs were cold, the chicken soggy and bland, and the vegetables were overcooked to the point of being mushy. So I recommend the hotel but not the catering service. If you stay here, eat at the hotel restaurants or in one of the downtown places nearby and skip the banquet food.

The service here is great at the front desk. They have sleep number beds, which was nice. The hotel itself is really old & outdated tho. Could use a little updating. They have a pool & restaurant & bar & coffee shop inside the hotel. Check in to get a free coffee! :) The area is decent tho. There’s a lot of stuff to do. A lot within walking distance. Restaurants, bars, lounges, stores, coffee shops everywhere. There’s also also park right behind the hotel. There’s $ 2 parking right next to the hotel.

Not as great as when I used to come here in the 90s. It feels and looks a bit worn down. For the price, no free breakfast. But location is great to be in the center of town, and parking lot is pretty convenient. Service was very nice at front desk and bar. Room was ok, but no fridge. Being on College Ave side wasn’t loud — no street noise from second floor.

Should’ve checked out before we checked in. Parking is terrible and doesn’t feel safe. Entire hotel is outdated and incredibly too expensive. It should’ve been about half the price. Finally, it stinks like mold and the elevator sounds like it will fall apart. Happy lodging!:(

Just back from a three day conference at the Radisson Paper Valley and was very pleased with the hotel. From the moment I walked in the staff was friendly and accessible — from the greeter to the front desk staff, security, restaurant staff, and conference support staff everyone was professional and welcoming. The hotel is not new, and its age shows a little: the showers could use updating and the lobby elevator is sloooooow. However the bed was comfy and piled high with pillows(there was also a spare pillow and blanket in the room), wifi is free and the entire sprawling hotel was clean and well managed. Pack your swim suit and workout gear as there’s a pool, hot tub, sauna, and fitness center(bummed I didn’t get to try out the ping pong tables). Parking is $ 2 per entrance, and it would be nice if the hotel would validate, but in the grand scheme of things it’s no big deal. Once you park you can pretty much leave your car where it is, as the hotel is right in the middle of downtown and within walking distance of pretty much everything you need! The bar has swings and Joannie will regale you with stories while she mixes your drink. There’s also a very convenient café serving Starbucks coffee and tea. Overall a great stay.

Overall this was a pretty nice hotel. The entry area looked quite presentable, and the staff that I did encounter was friendly enough. The issues that I encountered were similar to what other reviewers have brought up: — the layout is confusing and the signage isn’t clear — the staff didn’t provide clear directions at first(I ended up in the wrong elevator at first due to this) — the walls were pretty thin(I could hear my neighbor using the restroom as well as the washing machine that maintenance uses) Overall I could see myself staying here again if I had to(I didn’t choose the hotel, was booked by a traveling company), but if I had my choice I might give another hotel the chance to impress me more.

Pros: Room was modern and comfortable. Great bed — I slept very well. Conveniently located for bar-hopping on College Ave, no cabs required. They do secure the various entrances — the elevator to our room required a key card to use and we were asked to show our key to the doorman when we returned at 2:30am. They also have free Wi-Fi, no password needed. Cons: Parking in the garage was extremely confusing for both getting into the hotel(very poor signage) and getting back out. Probably blew half an hour total on walking and driving around the garage, and I was glad we had only a small amount of luggage. You also have to pay $ 2 each time you enter, so not a good choice if you will be coming and going(we parked on arrival and walked after that). At 6pm on a Friday, the line for checking in was easily 20 people. While they did have 5 staff members at the desk, not all were helping customers, and we waited about 15 minutes to check in. For me, it seems like that type of busy time is a regular occurrence and they should be better prepared. I also overheard employees telling people that they could not switch room types, they were oversold, etc, so when we got a king room(and had booked 2 doubles), I didn’t bother to call down and ask about switching. The hotel is large and confusing. We were given some directions to our room, but mostly just stumbled around until we found it. Same for going in and out when leaving for dinner and returning quite late. Also, the walls are VERY thin — we were woken at 6:45am by our neighbor’s room service delivery, which sounded like it was happening in OUR room. Noise continued from there, including screaming kids and stomping around from above. Also, I noticed on arrival that the refrigerator seemed to make a lot of humming noises, so I ended up unplugging it, which is not the ideal solution! I don’t understand why a large service cart(the boxy type they use for linens) was permanently parked in the hall in front of the elevator. It seems like they’re trying to be a nicer hotel than that. While I understand service areas exist, I’d rather not be tripping over them in the major public parts of the hotel. We had to check out in person at the front desk — no bill under the door like most properties do these days. Again, a small thing that just became another obstacle in the experience. Overall, while the room itself was nice, the other annoyances(especially the noise and the parking situation) really added up to a less than great experience. Next time I want to stay on College, I’ll check out the Copper Leaf across the street.

I had thought that the paper valley hotel was going to be the best of the best when it comes to hotels… that must be what is used to be. The biggest problem is the ability of the staff on hand to make decisions I would expect from a top tier hotel. I arrived 1 day early, but was told that the rate for Thursday night(early arrival day) would cost $ 20 more than Friday or Saturday night. I ended up using my AAA card to only have to pay $ 7 more. The hotel has 3 shuttle vehicles that are parked out the side door. I asked if there was a way to get a ride to an event 4 miles from the hotel. There were 4 people behind the desk when I asked about this 2 hours in advance but I was told they are short staffed and that if I knew of anyone interested in a job to send them there way. Hard to believe when to my untrained eye they were more than adequately staffed to take care of my request. Don’t plan on going here with high expectations just because you hear NFL teams stay here when they play Green Bay. It’s just a so so hotel that commands a price that is higher than the service that is offered.

I have only stayed at this hotel once, and I would have to say that this place does not live up to is reputation. Whatever former glory this once great hotel used to have, has long since checked out. Now the place in fairly well kept, and my room was nice enough, and comfortable, but the place is very outdated. I would say that this hotel is in serious need of modern updating all around. Over all my experience here was fine, nothing to complain about in way of staff or cleanliness. However, this hotel still remains fairly expensive per night depending on when you stay, and I do not feel the experience justifies the price.

I thought this hotel was really great! Lots of bars and restaurants to choose from right in the hotel, now mind you they are pricey and probably not the best food but it’s convenient. The have a nice pool area and exercise room and a gift shop and coffee house. The staff is very nice. The rooms are great! We got a king room and it came with a microwave, fridge/freezer and a nice TV to use. This hotel is also right by all the main things downtown which is also very convenient! You have to park in the parking garage($ 2.00) which is big and not to far, you can take an elevator to get to hotel from parking garage but it’s still kind of far when you have your luggage, but we managed. Overall great hotel!

We checked in early, got to our room, key cards did not work. Went back to talk with the front desk, and a manager walked me back up to the room, opened the door and discovered that we were given a room that someone else was in. Oops. He immediately called the front desk, escorted us back down to the desk, grabbed different key cards and said that he was upgrading our room to the Concierge level(access only by inserting key card in the elevator control panel). He opened the door to our room and we discovered a lovely large room with two sleep number beds, microwave, refrigerator, etc. I wish I could remember the two gentlemen who took care of us that day — they were SO friendly, outgoing — THEY made a WONDERFUL impression on us! We will go back to this hotel EVERYTIME that we are in the Fox Cities! Large hotel, very clean, very friendly staff. Large pool. Nice whirlpool. Great fitness room. I will stay here again! The staff MADE our stay!

Where to start… parking was alright with plenty of parking in the structures. However, getting your luggage from your car to your room is another story. No luggage carts and no idea where your room is before you park. So chances are you will park in the structure furthest away. The hotel may be past it’s prime. No refrigerator or microwave in the room. It’s sad that I can stay elsewhere and have a better room. We were at half a roll of toilet paper two days in a row without a back up roll placed in our room. Breakfast at the Orchard… blah. Food was cold and below average. Better off driving down College Ave and going to Blueberry Hill. Drinks at the hotel are over priced. You are much better off going to Anduzzis for double bubble from 1 – 7. Food during our banquet was average. My baked potato was just about raw. Another guest at my table asked three waiters for another fork. She started eating her dinner with a spoon until I got up and got her a fork myself. Checkout, I was denied a late checkout when all I asked for was another hour. Then when I needed a luggage cart, there were none available. As I said before, this hotel may be past it’s prime and no longer as prestigious as it once was.

THIRDTIMENOTTHECHARM I’ve stayed at this property several times in the past few years, each time for a period of multiple weeks. I travel for business, often with a large group, and the location works well.(As far as large hotels in downtown Appleton this is basically the only choice except for the Copper Leaf, a boutique hotel across the street.) My first experience was excellent and I looked forward to returning to Appleton. My second stay was a little positive. The staff seemed less friendly and less welcoming, but I thought perhaps, it was a fluke. This time my concerns were validated as the staff was even less friendly and less welcoming(with the sole exception of a lovely bellman.) I’m pretty certain the attitude stems from the fact that I was traveling with a business group. I’m not sure whom their usual clientele is but upon check in I was handed several memos on how to behave in a hotel. I’m not traveling with a youth sports team with whom you might reasonably expect some issues, but rather with a company that brings literally millions of dollars to the area and local business. I got the distinct impression they would rather not have my(our) business. Not sure who burned them in the past, but I think it’s important to remember that not all groups act the same, nor do all members of groups act out at all. The last straw was they refused to credit my Radisson Rewards account because of the group rate. I understand that policy when free nights are granted based on number of nights stayed(Omni for example) but when it’s based on dollars spent, it makes no sense, especially when I spent close to $ 2,000 for my stay. Great loyalty building policy Radisson! Other chains don’t do this(Marriott for example) and they will get my business in the future. As far as the hotel — it’s adequate. Avoid rooms with connecting doors, as you will hear everything in the next room. Better yet, if your business needs take you to downtown Appleton, rent a car and stay at one of the multiple choices closer to the airport on College Dr.

The most important thing to know about this hotel is the strange, inconvenient parking situation. There’s heavily enforced meter parking out in front and to the side, so you need to use one of the two commercial parking garages connected by walkways to the hotel. They only take cash! They aren’t expensive, but make sure before you drive into town, that you have some dollar bills, dollar coins, or a fiver, so you can get in and out. Bring some or all of your luggage with you to check in, to reduce the trips back to the car. Appleton actually has a pretty convenient bus system, so you can get places on the bus, drink, and not drive back, avoiding the need for more small bills, dollar coins. The concierges are not like big city concierges, they are eager but not that knowledgeable or connected to the local entertainment/restaurant scene. You’re better off using Unilocal for the latter. The meeting facilities are fair, probably the best in town for medium sized meetings, though there is some inattention to details that I would guess comes from a combination of communication lapses and high employee turnover. The rooms are comfortable, clean, the exercise room is adequate though a little hard to find your first time downstairs. The restaurants are okay, maybe better than what’s in walking distance, the bars have sort of peculiar hours. I’ve stayed here a couple of times, and will probably return. You might want to consider the nearby Copperleaf, an independent historic Euro-boutique style hotel, since hotel prices vary, I take the one with the better deal. They are comparable, but the ambiance and service is superior at the Copperleaf. There are bigger and more facilities at the Radisson.

Decent service at front desk, nice looking lobby. Parking situation is whack, why do I have to pay for parking? Though at least it was not too expensive. The room had clearly seen better days. Really beat up furniture, though the beds were decently comfortable and clean. I thought the water pressure in my shower was going to strip my skin off. And the drain didn’t drain fast enough and standing in an ankle deep puddle of shower water is like a top three grossest thing in my book. I’d look around a bit before staying here again. It didn’t suck, and I bet some of the rooms that are not booked using a third party site(like I did) are better than this one, but I bet for the price I could do better.
