We have stopped here many times and always have enjoyed the wine selection and the food. We love to get the cheese and meat trays. The only drawback has been the service. It seems really slow and many of the servers seem to lack knowledge about the wines. I would expect that they would have some expertise in the area, but if not, at least be super friendly. We look past the service due to the quality of everything else.

So let me start by saying that I am not a wine, and thus by extension, a wine bar, person. However, we were happy to meet friends here for a pre-dinner drink and nibble. The space is super cute, with fun cork tables under glass, and a server greeted us promptly. However, our server did not seem to know the menu very well, and to be fair, the menu is… kinda complicated. They have a note that you can do a flight of any 3(maybe 4? I don’t remember) wines, and seeing that number of «bubbles» on the menu, I promptly opted to do a flight of bubbles. It then transpired that no, you can’t do a flight of champagnes because they obviously can’t keep partial bottles open for tasting portions. Ok, I mean, I do understand that, but the menu certainly didn’t make it clear. Our server agreed that it was confusing and apologized, but it wasn’t a good start to the evening. Our friends wanted a bottle, so the server told them to look around at the bottles on display. Of course, they wanted a white, which should be chilled, and it was again pretty confusing to determine that they had some back behind the bar that were chilled, even though they had been told to select a bottle from the shelf. Really, they need to simplify things or make them a lot clearer to customers! Making wine selections took an inordinate amount of time and frustration. Also, when the husband ordered a bourbon(and he had to go to the bar to see the selections), the server warned him about the unusually high alcohol content in his particular choice. Now, imagine a tall, broad-shouldered, barrel-chested man. Is this the kind of guy that you warn about one drink? I gotta be honest, it was kind of weird. The husband and I also ordered several cheeses, which are offered by the each. A different person brought them out, and one was missing. It was later brought out by our server with apologies(and comped), but if you design your menu this way, you really have to get everything on there! Also, some of the cheeses were cut very sloppily, with quite varying thicknesses. If I wanted to butcher some cheese, I can do that myself, thanks! The husband did choose a nice flight of wines for me, and they did a good job of labeling them so I wasn’t constantly trying to remember which was which. However, given the frustrations we encountered, I wouldn’t be in a hurry to return here. I can do wine and cheese at home, without the side of «huh?»

Had a great day at Mile of Music 3. Visited a number of venues but ended the evening at Red and White as it wasn’t quite a complete night. Red and White is a very classy wine and everything else kind of bistro with a really great look and really great staff the lets you settle in but gives you all the attention you need. We ordered a couple of tasty Cosmos, a customized cheese board selection and a side of prosciutto. The bartender brought the shaker to our table and filled two nice size tini glasses to the top including a nicely abundant fresh lemon twist. I have to say with some muted-volume soft jazz in the background, perfectly set table lighting and just excellent cheeses with sweet strawberry preserve accompaniment, and it was a very flavorful and fitting end to a day for all senses.

They have good selection of wines and there was a good ambient. However, the place is in a no so «inviting» open mall, inside is not that cozy, and was too noisy.

Drove around for a while last night and decided to stop somewhere new. Loved the atmosphere and loved the wine selection. There were two disappointments with our first time visit. Our server was not attentive! He often walked away as we were talking to him and we had to ask other staff members to assist us. We waited for our check even after the table was cleared and our wine glasses empty. Aside from the server, we would have liked a dessert menu, especially given they had a nice selection of dessert wines, we were told that the kitchen was working on one for the summer. Overall, we will probably stop back but not anytime soon.

The food is great! More like snacks but the baked Brie was delicious! The only problem I had was that there was terrible service. It took them forever to get our check and I eventually went up the the register and gave the check to the girl serving us. The staff consists of pretty girls, but they are not very friendly.

Wine bars make me happy. Some girlfriends and I were in on a Saturday night and it wasn’t too busy. There was a backroom with a big TV, but it wasn’t on and was dark so it felt very cozy. The servers were nice, except that when I asked if they had any chocolate, they looked at me like I was crazy. I cannot be the first person to look for the chocolate menu at a wine bar. They go so well together! I insist you find a chocolatier(there are a number of them in WI) and partner with them. I had a flight of three wines which ranged from fine to delicious. They set them out on a fun little placemat with spots for each glass. It’s a clever touch. There is also the requisite bottle wall so you can take some of your favorites home, or simply stop in and pick up a good bottle. Great place to catch up with friends and have a tasty glass or two!

Surprised by some of the low marks this place has received. Pretty robust wine selection, even by the glass and the charcuterie plate was brimming with a fresh variety of meats. The cheese plate was generous and I appreciated the ginger atop the blue cheese. Service is a tad slow, but not so slow I wont return.

Looking for a unique place to host a special event? I hosted my friends bridal shower here last week and couldn’t have been more pleased! The service was outstanding. Nate and Sarah will go above and beyond to ensure your event is special! The food is excellent and well presented. The prices are extremely reasonable. Red and white is also a great spot for any date night:)

I love the atmosphere in this bar and think it’s a great place to meet up with some of my friends when we want to catch up. The service isn’t so great… Often sit with an empty glass waiting for a bartender to return to the bar. Their menu is great and I enjoy their specialty drinks, though I have found that they lack in consistency in making them.

Came in for a couple of glasses of wine with some friends. We sat at the bar in mid-afternoon on a Saturday. It was fairly quiet, so the bartender was able to devote a lot of attention on our small group. She had some great recommendations for two that weren’t sure what to try. The selection is fairly good for a place of this size(both to drink at the bar, or purchase from the floor). I saw a few wines I did not expect, but there were also a few I expected that they did not carry. Overall, if I am in the area, I would try this place again.

Nice décor, nice wine and the bartenders were nice. Now here’s the kicker and why the two stars. Great friend and I chose to stop in for a nice evening of catching up over some great wine — lingered for at least a couple of hours and were enjoying conversation and the atmosphere. Happy hour had ended and we lingered on. A waitress brought a little(emphasis on little) tray of cheese and nuts to our table and said Enjoy! We were surprised but thought what a cool thing to do after happy hour ends! 15 minutes later another waitress approached and asked if we had ordered the tray — then whisked it away and said it belonged to another table across the room — Huh? Not so upset that we didn’t get the cheese(because honestly it looked like swiss and cheddar and the nuts were definitely stale) But the waitress obviously made a mistake and management thought it better to save the ring on the till by trying to repurpose the wrongly delivered tray(I can only imagine what they charged at probably 90% markup) than to seize the opportunity to turn the misfortune into a future sale — i.e. Why not stop over and ask us «what do you think about our cheese tray? It’s a menu item that we feature every night — we would have been none the wiser, would have probably considered ordering in the future. But no they embarassed themselved and made us realize what(*&(&**) they are. Sorry I’ve been in retail forever and you don’t take your mistakes out on the customer. This would definitely not happen in my favorite Valley wine bar NanSorella’s. Poor reaction from the waitress and poor reaction from the management staff — Can you say first impressions?

Decent selection of wines, but was totally brushed off by the staff several times. I will not be going back. I am much happier with the friendly staff and the nice selection at World Market. And every time you walk in people are smiling, friendly and very willing to help with any question you may have.

This place is great. A friend and I were passing by last night and on a whim decided to go in… we were not disappointed. Beyond its fairly nondescript exterior is a super cute space, with a long bar, individual tables, private rooms for larger parties, and racks and racks of bottles for sale. The service-people are very knowledgeable and friendly, and the prices were reasonable. We got a cheese flight(delicious havarti!) with crackers and a glass of red each. Probably the nicest place I’ve ever been to in Appleton, but it’s still completely unpretentious! Definitely go here for a low-key night with some girlfriends or a first date!

Red and White is a great wine and spirits bar located on the south side of Appleton. It is a very laid back atmosphere, with an extremely educated staff. Come here to enjoy fine wine, beer, and spirits in a nonsmoking environment… with any level of «drink education.» The wine selection caters to everyone from first time wine drinkers, to wine snobs. The lighting is low and there are also lounge tables where you can be waited on. The décor is great, providing a very comfortable atmosphere. Unlike other wine bars, any attire is appropriate. I have seen people in hooded sweatshirts and hats, and suites and ties. Red and White offers fine cheeses, and custom flat bread pizzas, along with live music every other weekend, and wine tastings throughout the week. A must visit if you enjoy fine drinks and great atmosphere!
