Brought in an antique brass lock whose internal spring(s) had recently broken. Super simple design, simple enough for me to understand how it worked and what needed replacing(new springs). Folks at the shop were quite friendly at drop-off. I called the shop after 48 hours to be told that the lock couldn’t be fixed because the springs couldn’t be ordered.(It’s an antique, so of course they don’t contain off-the-shelf parts that can be easily ordered! That shouldn’t stop a locksmith from being able to fix a lock.) Picked up the lock(again, super nice folks), went to Ace Hardware and bought some spring wire as rough materials, and bent two ‘new’ springs to shape using a vice and some pliers. It took me 30 minutes, and the lock now works perfectly. So two stars for being nice, minus three stars for being a locksmith who was unable to fix a lock.

I’ve used Open Door Locksmith several times. Each time Chris has been very helpful. I recently bought a deadbolt there. Chris took time to show me the tricks of the trade and even provided phone support when I somehow managed to install it upside down. Awesome business and great people!

I had a renter lock themselves out of my vacation house in Aptos. I called Open Door Locksmith and spoke to Chris. He was very professional and took care of the issue in less than 30 minutes. Renters and owner are now very happy. I’m very impressed with the great service and highly recommend. Will definitely use for all my locksmith needs!
