We weren’t able to get a table at din tai fung, so we stopped by The Dumpling House. Ample parking, and we got a table immediately. Very good prices, and a wide variety of food choices. I wish there were a bit more vegetarian dumpling options, but that’s the life I live, sigh. We got a free green onion pancake with a check-in, awesome! We were a little disappointed that almost 6 of the dumpling options were not available, and no one gave us a heads up prior to ordering. Besides that, definitely an easy, fast way to get your dumpling fix in Arcadia. Agreed with comments about service, there is usually only one person working, so expect slower service.

I give this place 4 stars because it is my go to dumpling place. Being that I don’t eat meat, only seafood, I am crazy over their pan fried fish dumplings! Not many places like 101 Noodle or Din tai fung offer seafood options for an affordable price and little to no wait. My food always comes out fast and I love how it is a small place. However, dumplings can be very limited in number so I can’t always have the fish or shrimp, egg and chive dumplings :(Nonetheless, I still love eating here! Checking in for a free onion pancake is also an awesome bonus! I wish they would stay open later though and I knocked off a star because service isn’t very good. They pay more attention to their side conversations than the customers. I’m a very pleasant customer because I’ve been a waitress and understand how awful it feels to have rude customers. I thanked them and they were too busy chit-chatting to respond. I wouldn’t come back for service but I would for the food. I tip them about 30% of the bill usually but it’s more for the food than service. Maybe I’ll reconsider.

The worse service Ever! The food was greasy and average. We ordered chow mein and pan fried dumplings. We got the greasy bland chow mein then 30 minutes later the dumplings. They obviously forgot them. Based on all the good reviews I read, I expected much better food. I def won’t be returning! What a waste of time and money, trader Joes Has a frozen package of dumplings that are Much tastier. Our server never came back once To check on things and we had to ask twice About the dumplings.

Yummy! I love Chinese dumplings and it is so good to have found a dumpling house. Initially I stumbled upon this place with my mom who became excited after finding out about the soup dumplings. The pork soup dumplings we got were so good!!! We also ordered fried dumplings which were delicious along with their cucumber and garlic, a garlic spicy kick yet refreshing. The service was great but we didn’t get an order. Also, the food is really good but can be a bit bland. Though a little bit of soy sauce, vinegar and chili oil can fix that right up!

Food: Big portions & pretty good! The wonton noodle soup could use a little sprucing up though. Don’t forget the checkin deal! Service: Only one worker at a time, so it will be a little slower than the typical dumpling house. They’re pretty composed when it comes to handling my crazy requests for a bunch of sauces. Venue: I’d give it a B.

This dumpling place is a must if you are ever in Arcadia. Although it’s small, the food is always great especially their dumplings, and they do their best to accommodate to large parties. I just had dinner with a group of sixteen here, we got tables right away and were still able to sit next to each other. The service was a bit slow since there were only two servers tonight. But we were able to order within 15 minutes of being seated. The dishes we had: Beef noodle soup– it was slightly spicy and was enough to feed two people. There was a generous portion of noodles as well as beef. Pork and cabbage dumplings– these dumplings are the boiled kind and a plate is enough to feed at least 2 people(10 dumplings a plate). The garlic soy filling sauce that comes with the dumplings ISTODIEFOR. I would buy thebsayce by the bottle if possible! Green onion beef roll– this dish was alright but unfortunately it doesn’t compare to the green onion beef roll that you can get at 101 noodle express. Overall still a decent dish. Spicy wontons– there are 12 on a plate and is dressed in spicy sauce and crushed peanuts(be careful if you have allergies)! The wontons were pork and vegetable filled and is enough to share up to 3 people. The spice level for this dish wasn’t too high(more like a mild if anything). Xiao long bao– this dish was sadly not up to my expectations. There was little to no soup in the dumplings and was a bit dry. Overall the food was great but the service was slow. I would definitely come back but with fewer people.

Like the friend who’s always available to chill Dumpling House is always there when you’re craving some Chinese food. It’s basically the sidepiece you go to when the lines at Din Tai Fung are too long and the parking situation at 101 noodle is just too much of a hassle. There’s nothing bad about my Dumpling House experience, but nothing too memorable as well. Our group of four ordered so lamb dumplings, green onion pancake, beef rolls, and a soup to share. Dumplings, pancake, roll: The consistency of the dough for these items are spot on. Chewy for the dumpling and crisp and subtle flakiness for the pancake and roll. However, the dough lacks flavor and the filling for the dumpling and beef roll was lacking in flavor as well. We knew our dumplings were lamb only because the flavor of the lamb was all that we could taste. Soup: Hot on a cold winter day, no complaints. Big portions, decent price, food could be better. The definition of A-OK

Came here on a Sunday night with my family after shopping at the Santa Anita Mall. It was really small and busy but we got seated within 10 minutes of waiting. It appeared there were only two employees working but service was great and the food came out quick. My table ordered 2 orders of the juicy pork dumplings, 1 order of the shrimp, chive, and pork dumplings, the shrimp fried rice, and the bok choy with garlic. Every dish was flavorful and super hot and also at a very good price. I will be back again!

Everything tasted great and the service was great too! Only reason I have four stars is because the ventilation is terrible(I smelled like I cooked in the kitchen when we got home) and the restrooms are in the back alley(I’m scared of dark) :-( We had cucumber for appetizer(crisp and well marinated), green onion pancake(so so but it’s free if you check in on Unilocal), pan fried dumplings(juicy and tasty), sauteed pork belly(omg, thinly sliced of haven), stirred fried baby bak choy(crisp and well coated garlic), steamed xiao long boa(skin is thicker but flavorful and juicy) and hot and sour soup(a bit on the salty side). We will be ordering take out for sure but probably won’t be dining in unless the ventilation issue is fixed.

Great place to satisfy your dumpling craving, but a little on the oily side! I came here for takeout. Decent wait time(~15 minutes) and affordable prices. Plus, they offered free green onion pancakes with your check-in! Sweet! They also share a parking lot with Premier Desserts. Another plus. Though the green onion pancakes were complimentary, it was a bit bland. Maybe not enough onion? Or sugar? Is there normally sugar in these things? Maybe there should have been? On the other hand, the beef rolls were solid! They were filling, flavorful, and hearty. It was easily my favorite dish of the bunch. At about $ 7 for an order, I would order these again. The juicy pork dumplings were also great. Nicely steamed with brothy soup in the center and as stated in previous reviews, comparable to the quality dumplings from DTF. The last dish… the kung pao chicken. You guys… pls, cut back just a taaaad bit on the oil. I had my suspicions when I noticed my to-go bag it was drenched in oil. It was then verified when I opened the box and there was still a thick layer of it covering the kung and pao part of the poultry. Kung pao chicken is usually my weakness but sadly, this spot may have missed the mark. I’d come back for the dumplings & beef rolls. Pass on the kung pao.

Came here with my boyfriend at around 12:30pm. Restaurant was a bit empty upon walking in. My first thought was that it was a bit dark. Probably saving electricity by using the afternoon sun? Second thought was that it was a bit small. After being seated, we were handed two menus and a piece of paper to order on. We took our time to order since we were new. We opted for the wontons in spicy sauce, beef chow fun, and beef in spicy sauce. We also checked in for the free green onion pancake. Beef chow fun: ended up not getting this because the waiter had forgotten to punch it into the machine. But its all good! We ended up being super full anyway Green onion pancake: not as flavorful as I thought it would have been. Although, the pancake was flaky, it was also a little dry and could have used a little more green onions. 3⁄5 would recommend. Wontons in spicy sauce: actually wasn’t all that spicy. If anything, it looks spicier than it really is. Sauce was a bit oily but its okay if you don’t plan on drinking the sauce. The meat inside was juicy and flavorful while the wrapper was the perfect thickness. 5⁄5 would recommend. Beef in spicy sauce(fish fillet or beef in spicy sauce on the menu): delish! Came in a big pot over a fire. Kind of reminded us of Szechuan flavors because of the chilis. Was PACKED with flavor. Beef was delicious and tender. This dish also had loads of Napa cabbage as well. 5⁄5 would recommend if you’re into spicy flavors but not in the mood for anything too spicy. Overall, I would definitely see myself and my boyfriend coming back here. Also forgot to mention, parking is located in the back. There’s a driveway on Baldwin ave that leads to it. You can also find parking in the street as well.

Setting: Dumpling House is located on Baldwin Avenue, in the same building as Premier Desserts right next to Tomato Bank. It’s immediately adjacent to the driveway that leads you to the parking lot in the back. You can also park on the street. The restaurant is kind of small and can feel a bit squished especially if you were to sit in the middle of the restaurant. They also have this BIG silver freezer which is where they store their frozen dumplings. I really hope they hand make their dumplings and then freeze them just for convenience sake. Food: My friends and I ordered the juicy pork dumplings, lamb and green onion dumplings and the pan fried pork and fennel dumplings. They all cost about $ 7.50-$ 8. If you check-in on Unilocal, you get a free order of green onion pancake! I was slightly disappointed with the juicy pork dumplings. The juiciness in each of the dumplings were inconsistent. Some of the pork dumplings had soup, while others barely had any. I also thought the skin of the juicy pork dumplings were too thin and the texture just didn’t feel right. The lamb and green onion dumplings were alright. I liked the pan fried pork and fennel dumplings out of our orders. They were different and I’ve never had fennel in dumplings before so it was quite refreshing. Having it pan fried also made it better, maybe anything pan fried tastes better in general haha. The green onion pancake came out as triangular slices of about 6 – 8 pieces. It was really oily and not crunchy enough. Maybe the crunchiness is just a preference but it was too doughy for me. Service: The staff was friendly. Not spectacular but also not bad. Overall, I’ve definitely had better dumplings and green onion pancakes. Not my favorite dumpling place to go to unfortunately :(

First visit and I wasn’t expecting much from this Chinese café that sells pretty similar dishes from din tai ding just right across the street. However, I’m impressed they do have really good authentic Taiwanese food. Beef Stew Noodle is really good. Soup is spicy and very flavorful. Beef is tender and noodles is chewy. Taste very authentic. Xiao Long Bao is really good too. Skin is slightly thicker than DTF but there is more soup in the dumpling. Just wish they could give more ginger slices when served. Spicy Shrimp Dumplings is not too bad but not the best that I’ve had. Fillings fall off from the dumpling easily when I’m picking it to my bowl. Pancake is crunch and crispy and not too oily. Much better than many places out there. Tips: ~ Check in and get a FREE serving of spring onion pancake

Free green onion pancake with Unilocal check-in! Although, I saved that for later use. Went in for lunch with my coworker — got xiao long bao, pork and cabbage dumplings, spicy cucumber(huang gua), and spicy beef soup(without the noodles.) Xiao long bao — YUM! Thin wrapper, juicy inside. Although a few of them came popped already and juice flowed out, the meat was VERY juicy. Very good flavor. Dumplings — also yum! Juicy dumplings with a little bit of juice also. Good flavor and came with a soy sauce garlic mixture sauce that I REALLY enjoyed. Added some chili paste and it was amazing Spicy cucumber — just OK. Not COLD enough for me — room temp cucumber just isn’t as satisfying. Flavor was there, but it just didn’t do it for me. Beef soup — the waiter was really sweet in accommodating us. We wanted spicy beef noodle soup without noodles and he made it happen for us! Service was good, decently fast for lunch hour too. Overall good experience.

This has become our go to place for quick bites when we don’t know what to eat I personally like this place more than din tai fung. There’s more meat in their juicy pork dumplings. Also, take out service is fast and friendly! There’s a little bit of a wait for food to come out if you’re seating in though. Juicy pork dumplings and shrimp fried rice is our favorite dishes here

Menu has been slightly updated. I order for a pick up every now and then when I’m too lazy to pack a lunch. They’re never busy during lunch hours. Spicy Pork wontons– The wrapper seems a little thick, but I enjoyed the flavor. Hot and sour soup– Tastes good, but not the best I’ve ever had. Accepts debit. Parking in the back can get a little crowded, but never full.

We’ve been to Dumpling House a handful of times. Here’s the cheat sheet: — Currently, there’s a check in offer for a free green onion pancake =P — The place is called Dumpling House, their dumplings are very delicious(steamed or fried!) — The beef noodle soup is not bad, but not as good as Noodle King( ) — Service is a little slow when they only have two employees manning the tables — Seating is best for small groups(less than 8 people) The parking lot is located behind the building; it gets crowded sometimes, but I’ve never had a problem getting a spot. Street parking is also another option. Unilocal 100 Challenge — 11 of 100

Not bad. Not great either. They have all the dumplings needed to make a great dumpling house. But the dumplings are on the so so side. Definitely could eat them but every dumpling had a few issues. Dumpling soup was too salty. The skins on the Xiao Long Bao were a bit thick. Also missing the abundance of soup that make them so great. The gotie were under pan fried, therefore missing their crisp bottoms. And some were just a bit too big for the filling. I did end up eating a weeks worth of dumplings and noodles. So, in my opinion their food is average enough for me to clean the plates. I’d go back again but not in a hurry. I have to go back to Mama Lu’s first… The odd thing is having to go around the outside of the restaurant to take a wiz. And the cases of soy sauce are just sitting there welcoming you to the restroom/kitchen back door.

My previous review still applies but they have expanded their menu since 2012 and they definitely gained a lot more customers. There is actually a wait now to get your seats but it is fairly quickly. A complaint is no matter if its the weekend or weekday, busy or slow, there is always only 2 waiters working. You get your food slower and they are not as attentive. Second complaint is now that their are more popular and busy, the xiao long baos come popped 70% of the time. You just have to hope you are lucky that day. Favorites: Xiao long bao Onion pancake(free with a check-in) Fried pork dumpling Wonton soup Garlic bok choy Eggplant in garlic sauce Green beans Salted fish and chicken fried rice They now also serve drinks and dessert. Pre-order your sesame mochi balls in wine broth when you first come it as it takes awhile to make. Tip: Ask for a stamp card. They don’t offer it otherwise.

*Yelp Check-In Offer: Free onion pancake per table.* I love living close to a restaurant that serves delicious dumplings and noodles. For me, I personally prefer noodles over rice. So one Friday night, my friends and I went to check this place out. We were seated immediately and ordered a bunch of food: 1. Green onion pancake: Be sure to check in on Unilocal for this! It’s free, so why the heck not? The pancake tastes decent, but it tasted a bit too oily for me(4⁄5). 2. Beef noodle soup($ 7.49): Yummy. The noodles tasted fresh, the beef satisfied my boyfriend’s palate, and the broth was flavorful but not too heavy. Definitely get this one on a cold night(5⁄5). 3. Xiao long bao($ 7.49): Pretty good pork soup dumplings. My boyfriend and I still think the best place to get some XLB is Din Tai Fung, but this one is pretty good considering the price. I’d definitely order this one again the next time I come here(5⁄5). 4. Pork spicy wontons($ 6.49): DELICIOUS. The spicy sauce is absolutely flavorful and the wontons were oh-so-good! This one was my favorite for the night(5⁄5). 5. Pork pan-fried dumplings($ 6.99): Another favorite too! The dumplings were perfectly pan-fried and even had the crispy ends! I don’t know about you, but I love the crispy bits when the dumplings are pan-fried. The dumplings were juicy and scrumptious(5⁄5). Overall, this place definitely exceeds my expectations for noodles and dumplings. The food is delicious and cheap. You eat happy and leave happy. The only con to my experience is that the parking lot in the back is very limited. So be sure to come early.
