It’s not Orleans Corner anymore; they’re a Mexican restaurant which, oddly, happens to serve Jambalaya and Seafood Gumbo. Unfortunately, they weren’t serving Gumbo when we showed up on a Sunday so I tried the Jambalaya. I’m not sure what they were aiming for but it tasted like Mexican rice with seafood in it, and in no way tasted like Jambalaya. Maybe it’s a good thing I didn’t try their Gumbo after all. Anyway, my wife had their vegetarian enchiladas and she wasn’t a fan, complaining about the huge chunks of onions inside. I was really hoping for some good ‘ol Soul food, and now that they’ve switched over to Mexican food(and sub-par Mexican food at that), we aren’t tempted to come back.

Great service, decent, close-to authentic tasting food… but smaller portions and not very New Orleans feeling. Maybe some music some loud décor… it’s a little boring of a restaurant and too quiet. Cute outside set-up though. Great things include Sunday brunch, HUGE variety of beer, and great authentic choice of everything from beignets(which they always seem to «magically» run out of) to frog legs. Definitely worth stopping by!

After 3 attempts to dine here(weeks apart, each time there was a sign on the door informing that they were closed for the day, due to an emergency) — My hubby and I were finally able to catch them open. We should have just left it alone while we were ahead! I’m giving 1 star only because the place was relatively clean. Otherwise, the service was annoying at best. A lady, who I suppose was the owner(she wasn’t the waitress), hovered over the table and repeatedly asked how we liked the place(even before anything was served). We ordered the fried chicken and waffles. The chicken(leg and thigh) was under cooked, SMOTHERED with sage spice and tasted funny. … It’s beyond me why some restaurants that attempt to prepare Cajun food, believe that heaping on sage makes it «Cajun». Anyhow … besides the weird under cooked chicken, the waffle was cold. We overheard two guys at the next table that were looking over their menu, ask the lady(the owner?) what is their best dish. The lady tells them that she doesn’t know. One of the guys asked her if she’s ever even eaten any of the food they serve and she responded, «no». Both men got up and left. NEVERAGAIN!

I wanted to like this place because I’ve never really had New Orleans’ food before. So we decided to try to place on recommendation from a coworker. My group(7 people) get there at about 1130ish and the place is completely empty. The waiter greets us and give us a menu, the lunch menu. They have good choices and I was craving Shrimp that day, so I decided to get their lunch special fried shrimp po-boy that comes with a salad and soup. The salad comes, and it was decent. Then comes the soup, which was a cream of mushroom, and that was great. I’m a fan of mushroom and this had plenty of it. After the appetizer were serve, there was a LONG wait. By the time we got our main food, it was about 1230. I understand if the place was busy… but we were the only one there. So I get my po-boy…and it’s cold, like it’s been sitting there, and the fries were cold also. First bite, it’s decent. The sauce they have on it was a nice touch. Second bite… why does the shrimp look gray??? Looking closer, I realize that the shrimp was not cook. How they manage to fried the outside batter to a crisp and still have raw shrimp, I HAVENOIDEA. After that, I just picked at my lunch. I was greatly dissatified, but didn’t complain because it was such a long wait to get it in the first place, I didn’t know how long it would take to replace it. Maybe going the sandwich route wasn’t the best idea because all the other food that my coworkers ordered look good, so I’ll probably be back another time to try other items.

This place is pretty good. The service is superb but the food is ok. Here is my story… So I go to get a TOGO order and look through the menu. They brought me water and cornbread! So nice! Points for courtesy to your customers! Their waiter comes nd takes my order and he was so help in my decision! I was in a shrimp mood and I told him I wanted 2lbs of shrimp(sharing it of of course). Mmmm shrimp. Shrimp($ 14.99/lb, comesw corn, sauce ad potato per lb) Jambolya(sp?): $ 12.99 Sweet potato fries: $ 2.99(something like that, could be less) total: $ 52 I tipped bc thy were nice and gave me cornbread and water. What I got: and it was too late for me to go back: Mixed seafood — calms, crawfish, shrimp, mussels — and even tho I asked for shrimp — ALL shrimp. We ate it anyways bc we were tired and hungry… And it was good, but I was craving shrimp! I even told the waiter, I’m craving shrimp today. Jambolya was alright. It was healthyish… Not a lot of sauce and sausage and shimp. I singly ate the shrimp… A lot of rice and no greens. I was hoping for some bell peppers. Sweet potato fries: they were really soft and soggy. I like soft fries but the fiancé likes crispy fries… So it’s all on you guys Service: the owners and staff were SO nice! I was really happy with the service. That’s why I’m willing to try them again bc one fluke can change. Ambiance: cool ambiance, jazz music, lots of tables, lots of beers on tap Parking: plenty Overall: great service, food was good. Not bad but just minor mistakes.

I have no idea why the rating for this place is not 4+. I have been on a hunt for Cajun food since dining at Cha Cha Cha in SF. I accidentally came across this place and was so surprised I had not known about it being it was not far from home. So, my boyfriend and I came here for dinner tonight for our Monthiversary. The restaurant is on the corner of the plaza where Tokyo Wako is. It was a bit hard to find but we found it! We walked in the restaurant and it was empty. But I had a good feeling about it. My hidden gem sense was crawling out. Sat down and I spoke with the server George as to what was good. He made lots of suggestions and we ended up ordering the Louisiana BBQ Shrimps($ 14.99) and Jambalaya($ 14.99). They first brought out cornbread for us. Being that I’m Asian and don’t really celebrate Thanksgiving the traditional way, I love cornbread when I can get them. It was fresh and warm. Quickly, it disappeared from the plate. Our food arrived soon after. We could smell it before it came. The Jambalaya was so flavorful. With sausage, shrimps, and chicken, thank gosh the boyfriend and I were sharing because portions were huge. They do not cheap out on the ingredients. The Louisiana BBQ Shrimps was mouthwatering. Larges shrimps with heads still on drenched in a buttery garlic sauce served with garlic bread for dipping. YUMM! Loved every bite of it. They also kindly gave us more cornbread and garlic bread when we ran out. We had great service. Not sure if it’s because it was empty or they give that great of a service on a normal basis. But nonetheless, service was good. They came around, refill our waters, asked how our meal was and if we needed anything else. Very friendly staff. There offer lunch and dinner specials, too. The boyfriend and I really enjoyed our dinner here tonight. Looking forward to coming back and of course, bringing the friends!

Ok so my girl, my kid and I decided to try it out. I had the jumbo, my girl the pasta and my boy the fries. Everything was good and the portions where large! I managed to finish but I must say I was STUFFED! They gave alot of shrimp and meat vs alot of places(claim jumper for example). My girls pasta had alot of chicken although it tasted undercooked to me(just a tad) and they didn’t bring out the bread that comes with the dish. All in all I wish the prices where just a little better and I would eat here alot more. Lots of leftovers. The waiter was on top of it the whole time, I must’ve had at least 4 lemonades while eating and I never had to wait. Jorge I think but I’m not good with names. Anyway I would recomend as the food is tasty but expect to pay 14 – 20 dollars per plate and the beers are a bit pricey as well 6 – 10 dollars but they do have a good variety.

So disappointed in my take out lunch today. Ordered the Caesar Salad with blackened chicken breast for $ 9.98. Warm lettuce in a ½ size to go container with diced chicken on top, looks like a side salad. Way over dressed. No Garlic Bread, no Silverware. Whoever answered the didn’t know what they were doing!

This place is totally awesome — Creole/Cajun cooking is some of my favorite stuff on earth and this place is a win! I’ve spent quite a while perfecting my own jambalaya recipe… and Orlean’s Corner puts mine to shame. Which is fine by me. My wife and I tried this place on a whim because we had a coupon and we weren’t disappointed. We loved it so much we took our two sons there a couple of days later. Loved the Jambalaya, Crab Cakes(awesome!), Rajun Cajun pasta, Gumbo and Etufee. Pros: Amazing, authentic Cajun/Creole style food. So many things on the menu to try. Great beer selection(they even have one of my favorites — the Alagash White, from Maine, of all places)… If you like unique beer, this place is a must. Great wine selection too. Great atmosphere, great Orleans jazz music, great service. Cons: Zip. Give this place a try!

What a disappointment! Orleans Corner failed in taste and service. I guess I’ll throw in that it failed in quality too. Never returning to this place! There was 4 in our party including a co-worker who came to visit from out of state. We went to Unilocal and noticed pictures of the dishes that looked yummy. I really wanted her to have a great experience while in CA, but this place turned out to be a disaster. Actually, the experience was more of an embarrassment. I do have to give the place credit for having nice chairs, booths and decorations, but that’s about it. Our server was nice, but unmotivated. Despite being the only ones in the restaurant for lunch, we waited a long time for everything, ie drinks, food, refills, a straw, napkins, everything. Seemed like our server was more engaged with the bartender, but who was paying attention?! The server took our drink orders and because of the rain, one of my coworkers ordered coffee. She asked for cream and I thought it was absolutely hilarious when the server literally brought her cream! Heavy whipping cream! Not milk, not half n half, not that powdered stuff, but heavy whipping cream used for the cream sauces. When my coworker poured the cream in her coffee, it got curdled and looked gross in her coffee. Totally showed that they don’t know what they’re doing! Now about the food… We ordered the Cajun Pasta. The server asked how much heat we wanted and we both said we wanted it on the mild side. My tummy doesn’t do well with too spicy. After waiting, waiting, waiting, and more waiting we finally got our dishes. Holy cow!!! We couldn’t even eat it, it was so hot! I took like two bites and I was done. I thought I said mild and it was SUPER hot. My coworker from out-of-state, hated every bite of her food. Her glass of water was just not being filled fast enough. So much for a great experience. At the end of the meal, the server didn’t even bother to ask how we liked the food or how everything was. I guess since the plates were completely full, it was obvious our experience was terrible. I guess I wouldn’t want to hear my food is bad either.

This place can be good, but it’s terribly inconsistent. I have been here four times and each time has resulted in some sort of hiccup. 1. Had a waitress spill half a bottle of beer in my lap.(hey, mistakes happen right?) 2. Came for desert with a party of four. Waitress forgot to put in the order for my buddy’s desert, resulting in him getting his after we finished. 3. Came in for dinner only to find out that the restaurant was only serving a limited menu(none of which really Cajun) because there was a UFC fight going on.(wtf?) 4. Came in for dinner the fourth time, only to be told they were out of crawfish. How does a Cajun place run out of crawfish! Frank and Joe’s back when they were still around NEVER ran out of crawfish! I ordered a Catfish Po’Boy since they were out of crawfish, and I got shrimp instead! Since I had eaten most of it, I just pointed out the mistake to the waiter(since I was hungry). I got an apology, but that was about it. So to make a long story short, I really wanted to make this place a regular restaurant. I love Cajun food! But the problems with a consistent experience have me wondering if I will be back.

Everything here’s pretty good(except the unsweetened iced tea, which tastes to be out of a soda fountain). But I predict that this place will go out of business because everything here is about $ 2 overpriced. Service and staff are great. There’s a po’ boy lunch special until 1:00 that includes sandwich, fries, soup and caesar salad for 9 or 10 dollars. The caesar salad is really, really good – a ‘real’ caesar, not just a salad with creamy dressing and some parmesan cheese. A full rack of ribs is god damned huge, the sauce is tasty, but the ribs weren’t exactly falling off the bone. The mac n’ cheese is rich and creamy and not too salty. The bbq shrimp is good – about 7 or 8 big prawns in a creamy sauce. The only problem is everything is $ 2 overpriced. Hope they stay in business, though, because the food is good.

Honestly I can’t say I explore creole restaurants much but it’s nearby so why the heck not?(summary at the bottom) OH. AND… HAPPYHOUR3−6PM! $ 2.99APPETIZERSAND $ 2.00OFFDRAFTBEER!(15TAPS!) Tired of boiling crab? Don’t feel like driving far if you live in Arcadia or Monrovia for cajun food? Well then my friends, this little jem is the perfect little joint for you! I cant vouch for the authenticity; however, I can honestly say I have enjoyed the food and the service so far. And while sitting in front of a huuugeee TV(well it’s bigger than mine so it’s huge to me: P). So far I have tasted the craw fish and corn bisque which was accompanied with their garlic bread. It basically was corn chowder with Cajun spices in it. Overall I can say I would order it again. On to the entrees. Jambalaya(7⁄10): It’s kind of hard for me to compare jambalaya’s because I like the one from CPK(noodles!). Orleans’ included breast meat chicken, pretty good sized shrimp, and diced up andouille sausage. The chicken and shrimp were fine, but I wish the sausage had larger chunks, they were cut rather small so you didn’t really get to taste much of it. As for the taste the flavor was a little light, it could have used a little more seasoning. For those of you who eat spicy, don’t be worried when you come here. because their medium spicy just isn’t enough! :(. Though it wasn’t exactly as I wanted, I would definitely order it again! Shrimp Po Boy(6⁄10): So it was my first time having a Po Boy. I asked the waiter what he recommended and he mentioned either shrimp or blackened chicken. Since he mentioned shrimp first, that’s what I decided to go with. The flavor of the sauce with the tomato to and lettuce actually tasted quite good; but just know that the shrimp is actually breaded and fried(I expected otherwise). The bread was very fresh as well and had a nice crispiness to it. I think next time i’ll order the blackened chicken. Summarized: Jambalaya: Needs bigger sausage pieces, a little more flavor, and order it very spicy! Po Boy: Order blackened chicken if you don’t want fried, several people said the catfish is good as well. I WOULDCOMEBACK! :) Overall I enjoyed the experience. The wait is a bit long and waiters need are still kind of figuring out what to do, so as long as you have some patience… this place should be good for you!

The waiter offered two sizes for the Mac n Cheese and I chose the smaller one which was on the menu for $ 2.99. When the bill came I ended up paying close to $ 20. When I asked the waiter he said there’s actually only one size and he just came up with the options. I would have appreciated it if he just explained it instead of giving me the bigger portion and charging me significantly more without telling me. Overall the food was good but this felt wrong and I most likely will not come back again.

I haven’t had cajun/creole food so I don’t have anything to compare it to but I can tell to this: The gator(yes gator) is great. Jumbalaya was probably the best dish. If you like spicy food, get it spicy, you’ll like it. Louisiana bbq shrimp was pretty good. Comes with garlic bread which isn’t that great and 2 sides(corn and Mash). Service is great. They have beer on tap and TVs throughout the restaurant and they show UFC fights. Would I come back? Yes.

Last year I had to oppurtunity to travel throughout Louisiana visiting my fiancé’s family whom resides there. We both have been fustraded with the lack of cajun dinning choices here in southern california. I happened to pass by this place and checked the online reviews, from that point I knew my fiancé and I would have to try it. First off, service was excellent. The establishment was clean and cozy for its size. I was definatly surprised with the variety and choices they offered, specially since it was just the lunch menu. My party of course ordered 3 catfish plates while I ordered the Gumbo. We also had to try the hush puppies. I have to admit the hush puppies sealed the deal and in some ways were better then some in Louisiana. The catfish was excellent, it was the first time any establishment had come close to the rural country kitchen deep fryer style we enjoyed in the south. Thank you Orleans Corner Café, we definatly will be eating there again and soon. Your catfish has put places like Ralph Brennins Jazz Kitchen to shame…

Juicy Nola Grub in Arcadia The Po Boy’s sandwiches are a must try. Got the sandwich with the Crabcake and it was so juicy. It came with Nola fries and those were also made great. The price was pretty reasonable at about $ 9 – 10. The sandwich comes in 2 six inch type french bread subs so it was quite a huge meal for the price. The 4 stars mainly because they got the Po Boy’s sandwiches perfect. I want to come back and try all the different choices they offer like the catfish and crawfish. They didn’t have crawfish that day which was disappointing since that was our first option. Tried the gumbo, was not very pleased with it. The sauce seemed very oily and the taste wasn’t that good, it left a weird aftertaste. Definitely not the best gumbo and for $ 14 there wasn’t that much on the plate. The chicken and sausage was perfect, just didn’t like the sauce that came with it. I was very disappointed with the Beignets. They were definitely not as good as the ones in Nola. It tasted bland, not fluffy, a little toasted, small, a bit hard. Very disappointing. I really hope they make their batter better. I want to order it again but I just don’t want the same ones I’ve gotten before. The coffee was quite delicious also, it was probably just a normal brewed coffee but it tasted really great with the meal so that was a big plus. They had good fruit punch drinks as well if you wanted to get a juice that was sweet. Service was good. There wasn’t that many people at that time. The music they played were mainly 80’s songs and I really enjoyed the ambiance for the great music.

I ordered the cajun pasta and it was very good. I don’t remember what my boyfriend ordered for his main dish but we ordered frog legs and hush puppies as appetizers. I wasn’t brave enough to try the frog legs, but I enjoyed the hush puppies very much. Orleans Corner is a great place to eat if you’re tired of the same old food and restaurants. The outside area is super cute and it reminded me of a bakery I went to in New Orleans 14 years ago. The owner came by our table after our meal and asked how everything was. He told us that we can choose our spiciness on a level of 1 – 10 next time. I love spicy food so I will definitely take that into consideration for the next time I come here.

I was driving on Huntington when I noticed a place called«Orleans Corner.» Considering how few Creole restaurants there are in the area, I did a little dance in my car and vowed to come back the next day. We came for lunch on a Sunday and the interior was very clean and colorful. There was an outside area that would be perfect in the summer. The interior was roomy and had a few televisions. It definitely seems like a good place for a crowd. The menu presentation was still a work in progress(just three sheets of paper stapled together!) but fortunately the selection was not. There were many options to choose from. Initially, I thought they’d have mostly po-boys, but they had a lot of dishes too, from jambalaya to blackened catfish. We finally decided on a crab cake appetizer, a crawfish po-boy and gumbo. The wait for the food was a bit long considering the place was mostly empty, but it was not so long that we had to resort to eating our napkins. I think this has more to do with them being new than anything else. Happily, the food was well worth the wait. The crab cakes were stuffed with crab meat and was perfectly crispy on the outside. We got four crab cakes that were topped with sweet corn as well as two dipping sauces. The crawfish po-boy was also very good and came with cajun fries. I got the gumbo and it was AMAZING. It had a great smoky flavor and plenty of sausages and chicken. The only thing that could have made the gumbo even better was if it was spicier, but this is nothing that a little hot sauce(which happens to be present on every table) couldn’t solve. (I read in some of the previous reviews that some of the lunches came with sides. I’m not sure if that was just a weekday thing or if the restaurant doesn’t offer these combos anymore, but when we went on Sunday for lunch, those options were not there. My boyfriend’s po-boy just came with fries. Not a big deal, but just thought I’d mention it since the restaurant might still be perfecting their menu.) The service was very welcoming. There was a guy and a girl there and both were very helpful and attentive. Kudos to them for being so friendly!
