This location is combined with Liang’s Kitchen. We had a round of the noodle soups. Not as good as some reviews make it out to be. May’s Ice Cream in Dallas, TX is better than this place. If you’re passing through and want noodles but don’t know where else to go then come here. If you’re looking for flavorful Taiwanese noodles that is a good amount for a decent price, I suggest you keep looking. The bowls are average sized. There was a small serving of noodles in it. The spicy was not spicy at all. The meat tasted kind of funny.

Food is not all that great, yet they claim it to be «traditional» Taiwanese food. Not even close. Besides that, you are looking at $ 20+ a dish. On top of that, they want to charge you $ 5 for a can for COKE. yes $ 5 for a can of COKE.

Not a bad place for lunch, price is on the high side but the food is great! They even give free cold noodles during summer days, it’s delicious! I would recommend that spicy pork dish that’s one of our favorites. Dinner price is even higher but portion is generous. I would definitely keep coming back.

Authentic Taiwanese food from the owner of Liang’s. The house special cold noodles and the spicy minced pork with egg over rice are both really good. I also recommend the peanuts.

The Service: Greet by the staff the moment I walk in the restaurant. The owner even comes out and recommend dishes for us! The service is quick. The Food: Very authentic Taiwanese food. Every dish I order is very delicious. Some of the dishes are a little bit of spicy but that definitely opens up my appetite! The Parking: Private lot(FREE)

There are so many taiwanese places to try especially in the 626 area. My friend’s friend took us here, because she grew up in the area and had been there several times. We got the beef wrap, hot oil wontons, beef noodle soup(w/the thicker noodles), zha jiang noodles, and a vegetable dish. Everything came out in a timely manner and looked amazing! The zha jiang noodles were probably my favorite out of the dishes. It’s a really simple dish, but this one tasted extra good. I would probably come here again, if I’m in the area. The service was really good, the atmosphere was also nice, and the food was good and at a great price!

Not really sure what to make of this place. The food is ok. I’ve been here a few times and each time we get the Yu Tou Sa Guo(Fish head casserole?) Every single time I’ve come it has been a pre ordered meal from the group or the manager recommends it. The food is ok, nothing to distinguish itself from the troves of chinese food places around. I don’t know about the price since I never had to foot the whole bill. I would say if you’re looking for good Chinese food there are definitely better places.

I think the issue that most Unilocalers have with this place is the price of the food. We were a bit taken back by the price as well, because since it was Sunday, we missed lunch special by a day(I’m assuming). The tea here is very fragrant and service is very polite. The spicy sauteed pork was very fragrant. Loved how thinly sliced the pork was and the heat of the chili oil. The eggplant, basil and pig intestine in clay pot was a really good dish. The flavor of the pig intestine was great and the eggplant soaked up the sauce. I didn’t like the oil with these two dishes, but the taste was so good that we couldn’t stop eating. The circular booth we were seated at was divided in half by a white-crossed garden gate, which is a bit awkward because we’d essentially be facing the side and eating at the same time, and you’d kind of sink in the seat. The person who decided to put those booths in was a complete genius. We’d like to try it again on a lunch special day; maybe that way the restaurant would actually have more people?

Like other Unilocalers, Mama saw the TV commercial of the Liang’s Kitchen«Flagship» store and got brainwashed to try it out. We actually got lost on the first attempt as we went on Las Tunas toward San Gabrial area; 2 weeks later we found out their correct location. Menu was really confusing, we did not see anything new on the paper menu, it was the same old Liang’s Kitchen menu. The booklet menu has common Chinese dishes and set dinner starts from $ 80 for 4 people. Since nothing interesting popped out, we ordered Chicken Noodle Soup– the Chicken was chewy and can’t eat it at all Green onion pancake– ok Beef noodle– came after all the entrée were at the table already and wasn’t hungry anymore Daily Special/silverfish fried egg– not much flavor, very dry 3 flavor chicken– GOOD, chicken was tender, generous portion of basil. The server asked for less oil and it was pretty good. Taiwanese style shrimp pancake– I saw it on the TV display and ordered it without checking price. That small 8 pieces of pancake costs $ 18.95. I must said, the shrimp tasted fresh and fair amount of shrimp in each piece, but it was not $ 18.95WORTHY… I would said the fair market price is around $ 10.95 — $ 12.95 the most When check arrived, we got over charged for the daily special, as they have not set up the daily special pricing in the cash register, they just choose a random item to charge. Also got over charged for the chicken noodle soup. It took them another 15 minutes to fix the check. Décor– the SPLIT the normal 6 people booth on the side into 2 tables, there is a see through fence on the table to separate the tables. You can see who is sitting next to you and hear their conversation clearly, since we are basically sitting on the SAME booth. Service– 5 stars. The staff are extremely nice and attentive. Their friendliness made up for the lack of menu knowledge. Love the staff there, but not the food.

Quick Tips: 1. Located next to Big Lots in its own private lot. The two do not connect! 2. The food is a bit overpriced, but there seems to be many noodle offerings. 3. I believe they serve alcohol For more, read on! I came here for the lunch special with my parents. A couple of things set me off with this place and made me think that my first time here, would also be my last time here. 1. Décor I noticed the really nice aquarium off the bat. But quickly forgot about it because of the strange booth arrangement. I guess in order to save space they wanted the ability to combine big and small booth parties. They did this by creating a sectional out of two tables and the big booth. They used a fence-like screen to keep the two booths separate, but with the ability to merge. It looked incredibly ugly and even off-putting. Another thing is, for the price of the food, I almost always expect for the food to be served on a table cloth. For the bigger tables, there were table cloths, but for the smaller 4 seater tables they had pieces of white paper to protect the table cloth underneath. Anyways, the chairs were rather comfortable and the tables were not in close proximity with each other, which is appreciable. 2. The waitstaff Pretty attentive and the part that was more impressive. They filled my water without asking and any small request was quickly filled. 3. The food Ultimately, what makes a restaurant a restaurant is the food. The food is good, but it kind of lacks the kind of wow factor that makes me think, this place is exceptional. We ordered three dishes, a Taiwanese style stir fried dish that was made of tofu, squid, beef, celery, and onions. The stir fried dish was mediocre and there was no taste of celery present. The next thing we ordered was a fish dish that featured a whole filet of fish topped with soybeans flakes that have been fried. Usually this dish is incredibly flavorful and the soybean flakes are crunchy and give it a great texture. This fish was flaky – probably as a result of still cooking underneath the plate – and the soybean flakes were undercooked. Furthermore, the soybean flakes tasted a little bland. It needed a dash of garlic or basil or even some green onions to spice it up. Another thing that was unappealing was how it was served very«wet,» it was practically boiling in the fish juices while on the plate. Overall, the fish was served overly cooked while the soybean flakes were undercooked. The last thing we ordered happened to be the best dish. It was a dish that is a lot like the intestines/pig blood spicy broth that comes with pickled vegetables and the like. This dish, however, was made with eggplant and intestines. It was delicious. The flavors were intense and the basil was a great touch to it. The eggplant was delicate and tender and the intestines were flavorful and not overcooked. 4. Pricing This place is pretty expensive though for the price. The lunch special for three dishes came out to $ 28.99. The food overall was a disappointment, and much like my last review, just skippable. Nothing really special or unique about it. I’ve had better Taiwanese food elsewhere, but I do encourage you to come and try the food though, maybe another dish is better than our choices. Overall, I have to say that it’s not bad, but it’s not good.

Co-workers brought me here on a week night. The newly opened restaurant was half full. We were excited about the place because there are not many good Taiwanese restaurants in LA. The only one comparable to this one is Café Fusion In Arcadia as well. The Hakka squid dish, fried fish, shrimps, cabbage pork stomach and braised tofu were all pretty good. The only disappointment was the steak beef cubes. Not only was it $ 18 a dish, the beef was not tender at all. The service was good. The prices are no cheap though. Six of us spent about $ 120. But overall, it was definitely a restaurant I’d come back again simply because there are no good authentic Taiwanese cuisine in LA. Any thing that is reasonably decent is good.

Pros: teapot has a base with a small fire that keeps the tea warm, good décor Cons: VERY, VERY slow service on a Saturday afternoon around 12:45 with the restaurant 2⁄3 full of customers. We only ordered 1 appetizer and 1 rice and 1 noodle dish. No lunch special on weekends.

Meh. Came here with le parents and sat in the booths. Kind of awkward because the booths are separated by a fence thing and I kept making eye contact with the guy in the booth across us. Awkward. Food is decent, nothing special. Seriously overpriced tho. Sesame oil chicken for $ 20? I don’t think so. I did like their green onion chicken which was $ 9. The other three dishes we got were mediocre and came in small portions. Definitely not worth the price. I found a lipstick stain on my cup. Come on, the restaurant just opened and the cups aren’t clean? Seriously? Oh, they charge each person $ 1 for rice.

So basically, the owner of Liang Mama Jia(Used to be on Baldwin & Duarte) entered a partnership with some other restauranteur hence why there’s a Liang Mama logo. Half the menu(the part that’s just a laminated piece of paper, chilling outside the actual menu) is straight from Liang Mama Jia. And that includes all the carby goodness like the noodle, wraps and cold dishes. However, we were more enticed by the actual dishes. Prices are standard-nice-chinese-restaurant prices. *Free Amuse Bouche: I’m just calling it an amuse bouche because that’s what it reminded me of. In reality, it was just free papaya milk. It was a small glass that they gave out to tables to sample * Bamboo heart & pork soup: I’m a big big fan of bamboo heart. I think it’s the texture that makes it fun to eat. Taipei Garden didn’t skip at all on the bamboo hearts. Also, the soup had a bit of a kick to it — I think it’s jalapenos. I also drank this a week later when I was out with the flu and it was JUST as tasty. *Shrimp & asparagus dish: GREAT flavor. Not too salty and was very tasty! Recommend! *3 Cup Mushroom Dish: This is typically prepared with chicken. However, it’s awesome to see that they have a veggie version. I loved the various types of mushroom — namely the king oyster ‘shroom :) Strong, strong flavors as is typical of «3 Cup» dishes. *Silver Thread Bun: Gotta get my carb in some how! They deep fry it here and serve it with condensed milk. Yum! Pretty good size. Overall, I think I’d be back to eat Liang Mama’s for lunch and try their actual dishes for something more special for dinner!

Oh goodness, the parents saw this place while driving and wanted to try it out because it was taiwanese & it just opened. This place is not yummylicious & it’s expensive… $ 100 for 4 dishes and 1 soup! However! They have complimentary deserts after, and that was pretty yummy! So if you like Asian desserts, get it here! The servers are also very friendly!

A recently opened Taiwanese joint in a spot usual restaurants don’t succeed in, this restaurant has a very friendly and grand feel. All the customers spoke Taiwanese or Mandarin so that definitely helps when you flip through the vast menu. They recommended me a fish-head pot(yu tou sa guo), a few Hakka-style dishes and sour cabbage pork stomach soup(shuan cai zhu du tang), Taiwanese fried milkfish, country-style chicken(fried with sauce) and a mixed appetiser. For me, it’s very home-styled and very Taiwanese.
