OHMYGOSH, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO :( Devastated along with many other Won Won Kitchen long-time patrons. Followed them from original QQ Kitchen shop down the street. I will miss your Roh Gun Mien and Bao Bing, sniff* Best wishes to the owners…

Devastated… First thing that popped in my head when I returned to Won Won after the holidays to discover that they have sold the place. It is no longer Won Won and Lisa is no longer there to greet customers. My wife and I were regulars to Won Won, often frequenting it multiple times a week. Alas, it is no more. The interior is basically the same, with the walls painted a different colour and new furniture. But the setup is still exactly the same. The menu is slightly different, but the staples are all still there. Prices have gone up slightly and portion size has gone down. I ordered my staple item, minced meat and mushroom rice and my wife ordered the beef noodles. The food tasted slightly different… maybe the ingredient quality is better, i’m not sure. But all I know is that it didn’t taste the same. Part of the charm of Won Won was the simplcity, quantity, service and the price. While the food is still relatively cheap, and the food is relatively good, it’s just not the same. I will return again to give it another shot, but I’m starting to look for another favourite hole in the wall taiwanese restaurant. Hopefully, Lisa and crew will decide to open another restaurant in the Arcadia area very soon.

LOVE this place! As Amy F. has mentioned in her review, the owner/cashier lady is the nicest person ever! She is very friendly and always has a smile on her face. This restaurant is family run(was originally the parents working there but they have since retired and now their son and daughter are running the place). I’ve met the entire family since I’ve been going to this restaurant since they opened and was at a different location. Very humble people. Their food is hits the spot for me whenever I want great Taiwanese food that reminds me of Taiwan. My parents would drive there on weekends just to eat their Beef Noodle Soup. I like their Fish Stew Noodle Soup and Duck Noodle Soup(smells soo yummy). Their tea jello is very good and refreshing, made with black tea. Price is super cheap and you can’t find anywhere where your $ 10 would give you a complete meal and leave you with change still after tip! Max seating capacity is 35(I counted the chairs) so not a good idea if you have a huge group.

What an awesome place! This is one of those divey Taiwanese restaurants. Before I carry on with the details: here is the abstract. If you want some good tasting and CHEAP Chinese food, come here! $ 4.60 for the pork chop(2 chops) rice, with egg, veggies, and minced meat/shitake mushroom, comes with soup, free iced or hot barley tea, and tea jelly dessert! wtf?! This place is divey in that the plates are foam disposable ones, small foam bowls for soup and dessert and the place does not have the nicest setting in the world; but, at least the noodles come in real decent sized bowls. Why does it get 5 stars? the food duh! Got the pork chop rice, that’s some good stuff, comes with an egg, a couple of pork cops, the minced meat and shitake mushroom mix. In addition, you get some nice cabbage mix. If you’re expecting classy food, don’t bother. It is important a very good that the place appears to be pretty clean. A couple of very nice Taiwanese ladies work there. Since the plates and bowls are disposal, how dirty can it get?

Found this place through Unilocal and went back again the same week. =) GOOD, CHEAP, TAIWANESEFOOD. Cheaper than other similar restaurants in the SGV area, yet still very tasty! Complimentary soup(for non soup-related orders) and tea jelly dessert(even on TOGO orders!) Order the beef noodle soup and dry flat rice noodles. Delicious! Great service. The cute owner lady is super friendly and always smiling.

After waiting for 3 hours for the car to be fixed, we were starving and ready to eat. My family wanted some Chinese food so I Unilocaled and found this little place nearby. Walking in, I felt like I was in Taiwan. The restaurant felt so «homey» as if the owners actually lived there and the customers that were there seemed like regulars who knew each other. Its super kid friendly too. The owner(half owner? I believe she was the wife) was so cute and served us quickly. It was around 6:30PM and we ordered to go. When I asked to add more to my order, there was not an ounce of stress and all I got was a cheery, happy vibe from her. The food turned out to be extremely delicious and the real steal is that IT’S SOCHEEEEEAAAAPPP!!! Everything we bought WASLITERALLYUNDER5DOLLARS! Holy crap.(Everything on the menu except for two items was under 5 stinkin’ dollars!!) Portions were generous too! 1. Beef Noodle Soup 2. Pork Chop Rice 3. Chicken Rice All like 4 something dollars. What a bargain! And we also ordered Green Milk Tea with Boba or Pudding. Very delicious, although if you get it with pudding it mighttt be a little sweet. Also, the drinks were like $ 2 each and if you don’t get boba, its like $ 1.50.(say whaaat?!) BUTWAIT! THERE’S MORE!(haha it’s like a Billy Maze commercial) With every meal, they give you this tea jelly. Sooo soothing for a hot day and so good! They also give you soup for rice dishes: D Overall, service was great and fast. Drinks were soothing and food was delicious for the price that we paid. I would come here again. Thanks again Unilocal!:)

Simple Taiwanese food at its finest. Chicken leg rice is definitely the way to go if you’re down for a meal that’s cheap, delicious, authentic, and filling. Chicken leg is marinated nicely and it’s got that nice crispy skin that I love. It’s a huge piece too and you also get a few sides, such as cabbage, marinated egg, and minced pork over your rice, and comes with seaweed soup. That’s as Taiwanese as it gets! I can honestly say very few places can rival the chicken leg rice here. Tried a little bit of the seafood noodle soup. If you like your noodle soup heavy on flavor, then add some chili oil there since it’s an assortment of fishcakes and tempura, seafood, and veggies in a very clean broth. I also like the cold marinated items, like bean curd and seaweed. Just a simple soy sauce paste drizzled over it. You also get this awesome tea jello for dessert after dinner. Tea jello! It’s actually my first time having something like this in the States, and I gotta say I’m willing to come to Won Won just for the jello. It’s slightly sweet which is perfect for me. I don’t know why I like it so much. Maybe it’s the value & portion, maybe it’s the nice obasans, or maybe it’s just the good food. Don’t be bothered with the toss-away utensils and styrofoam, Won Won is definitely a no frills sorta place.

How much is in your pocket right now? Next to nothing? Check the change in your car and perhaps you can get a meal here. Also, when do you ever go to a place and the owner down-sells you their products? I came here with my parents and at first we were going to order 4 dishes with a soup. The owner told us that since you already have a noodle soup dish, you don’t need to order soup. Indeed, she was correct since the rice dishes already do come with a soup also. Kudos for being honest. You won’t get anything fancy here, no special presentations on your plate and most food comes in styrofoam containers. You won’t find nice décor, but I have to tell you, you will get some personal attentive service here if they are not busy. With that said, do order the pork chop rice for $ 4.60. Comes with soup and a tea jelly dessert. Rediculously well priced and above average portions. Great flavor, and very filling. Only thing I wished they had was the sour cabbage to top the dish. Fun fact: think I used to visit the same restaurant 6 years ago when it was a Korean owned place.

EVERYTHING is yummy at this Taiwanese restaurant! It’s a lot better than May’s Café in Arcadia(less greasy too). The owner is really friendly, and they speak Mandarin as well as English. The tea that they serve you is really good, a mixture of rice tea and barley. The portions for their entrees like noodle soup and rice dishes are rather large. Before you are finished with your meal, they already brought you a grassy jelly dessert that they make(delicious!). Everything is served in styrofoam dishes, with exception to the soup dishes. The only thing I find dis-concerning is that the waitresses are always wearing gloves, but I have yet to see them change them… doesn’t that defeat the purpose of wearing gloves? A lot of people call in orders for pick-up. This place is always busy, but never busy enough that you have to wait long for a table. It’s in the complex immediately next to Cloverleaf Bakery and Sushi in a Box. Two of my favorite dishes are the beef noodle soup and pork chop noodle soup(meat served on the side). Happy eating! :)

Even though I went away for college, I used to try to come once every week during my high school days. Whenever I go back to eat here, the nice Taiwanese lady always recognizes me. This place is the pretty hole-in-the-wall status, but don’t let that fool you. The cuisine is as authentic it gets. Hell, you even see the old taiwanese grandma cooking your food in the kitchen half the time. Things you MUST try include the pork chop over rice, the chicken leg rice, or the fried oyster pancake! They always include free stuff like grass jelly and the daily soup, all which can be had for about five dollars. At a joint like this, you know that they really like serving the community and bringing the culture back to their community. The service is always friendly, and the waitress’ English is very good. Another thing I must mention is that the cook(old grandma) came over from QQ Kitchen. Before, I was fiercely loyal to QQ Kitchen, but my allegiance has changed. Its places like this that show me you don’t have to pay an arm and a leg for good food. Come here for a little taste of Taiwan if you can’t afford the plane ticket back.

Just a warning. eating here will make you feel like you literally ate out of someone’s garage. LOL! OKOK, the food is DIRT cheap. But I’m sorry, this is just straight GHETTO. my advice? take the food to-go :) Because either way, you will be eating out of styrofoam using plastic utensils! The food, on the other hand was pretty solid(well, for the price). I ordered Dry Noodles with Minced Meat($ 3.25) and my friend ordered the Chicken Rice($ 4.70). My noodle dish came with bean sprouts, minced pork meat, cabbage, over yellow noodles, covered a light sauce. I thought it was pretty good~ but nothing special… but for $ 3.25. VERY special! The Chicken dish came with fried chicken, a boiled tea egg, cabbage, tofu, pickles, and minced meat over rice. Everything tasted very similar to SinBala. For the price, a total deal! On top of all that food, we also received a miso soup and a jelly dessert for a grand total of $ 7.95… A great place if you’re looking for a cheap place for TAKEOUT :) oh. but CASHONLY

Ordered takeout today. Chicken rice($ 4.60) is okay, the chicken is «fried» so expect a little oil. The Beef Noodle Soup($ 4.95) is okay. The broth is a little too salty and the noodles are not the good kind that old QQ served. Of course, the tea jelly is the best, the container was full while the one I got at QQ yesterday was only 2⁄3 full. =( Prices are about $ 1 cheaper than Old Country Café. A photo of the chicken rice is uploaded. I also took a picture of the menu, if you want it, send me a message.

I always get the chicken leg rice. It comes with the meal as well as soup and a small grass jelly dessert, and that all comes out to less than 5 dollars. Hard to beat the price. Great place that I go to quite often. I recommend the chicken leg rice, pork chop rice, beef noodle soup, and(i think it’s called the shrimp pancake but it’s egg, shrimp and vegetable)

I came here w/David ’cause all the reviews kept talking about how cheap it was and we’re trying to save money. We both got the beef noodle soup(around 4.50) which was pretty good, and they give generous portions. I probably could have saved half of it for lunch if David hadn’t eaten what I couldn’t finish(he’s a beast!). The inside of the restaurant was pretty plain looking and they used disposable utensils and styrofoam bowls and plates — even if you’re dining in, which was a little weird. But maybe that’s how they can afford such low prices? The lady gave us two free bowls of their grass jelly dessert too … how did she know that the way into my heart is to give me free food?

Long story short: good beef noodle soup in a small place with friend service. Cash only. Long story long: How have I not reviewed this yet? That’s so not like me… forgetting an establishment that succeeded in feeding me good food. I came here several months back with my two friends from church that I meet up with weekly to catch up and keep accountable. Well, we try to meet weekly as much as possible. Sometimes something comes up and we have to postpone or whatever. This place is literally a block from Mandarin Noodle Deli. I suppose the inner Unilocaler in me is always subconsciously looking for new places to try so I can Unilocal them, thus using these times we meet up to go there. Then again, we had to meet for lunch this one time(usually meet for dinner) and one of them is «restricted» to staying in the Temple City area to prevent having to take too long of a lunch. I suppose having what my mom said about having a bad experience last time she went to Mandarin Noodle Deli in the back of my mind, I picked this place. This restaurant is in a plaza, so there is plenty of parking. The restaurant itself is pretty small, about half the size of Mandarin Noodle Deli. We sat down and immediately got some service. The menu is pretty much the same as at Mandarin Noodle Deli. I suppose we all kind of wanted to compare, so we all ordered the beef noodle soup. The price, $ 4.95. Yes please!!! We also ordered some pork dumplings and green onion pancake. The food came out and it smelled and looked really good(see picture). We all dug in and the broth was really flavorful and the noodles were perfect. There was plenty of meat and vegetables and it didn’t seem to oily. The dumplings were pretty standard and the green onion pancake was good too and not too oily either. I believe we all agreed that this beef noodle soup edges out if not is just as good as at Mandarin Noodle Deli. Service was really friendly and prompt. Rarely can you find that in any Asian restaurant. Cheap prices and cash only. Ah… good ol’ SGV… you always know how to do me right =P

So lately, I’ve been pretty uninspired when it comes to writing reviews. I’ve been to a lot of good places, but just haven’t felt compelled to write any reviews. I found my inspiration on a recent visit to Won Won Kitchen. I was looking for some inexpensive food that was close by, and Austin S. brilliantly suggested this place. I read a few reviews and knew to try the beef noodle soup and the garlic noodles with minced chicken. Jumped in the car and drove a whole 3 minutes before coming to this tiny establishment. It seats barely 15, and there’s just one lady taking orders, but don’t let that deter you. After 5 minutes of confused staring at the menu, the woman at the counter asked if she could help. I told her I was looking to try the beef noodle soup and«some dry noodles with garlic and minced meat.» She points to #14 and #18(which did not state either of the desired items). She was VERY friendly and helpful. 7 minutes later, my food comes out, and I’ve got two full bags to take with me, and the total? $ 9 even. whaaaaa?! I get home, thinking this is too good to be true, and sure enough, i got exactly what I ordered… and lots of it. I got 4 meals total out of it AND two free servings of their tea jelly. I love supporting small local businesses like this, especially when the food is good and the service is stellar(seriously, the lady was super friendly and helpful), and that is exactly what Won Won Kitchen has to offer. Good call, Austin. :-) –Cash only

Are you starving? Only got $ 6 on you? Want a box full of food? Won Won is the place for you. You get a soup, a box full of food, and tea jelly for dessert — all for under $ 6. Now, a little birdie may have told you that the owners of Won Won used to own QQ, its culinary twin in the neighboring plaza to its west on Las Tunas and that little birdie would be correct — the menus are almost identical, but each has their respective edge over their counterpart. Parking: Plenty of spaces in the plaza lot for all the businesses in the plaza. Food: If you want huge slabs of meat, either pork chops or chicken fillets, the Pai Gu Fan and Ji Tuei Fan are a steal. The box is bulging at the seams with rice and meat, and although a little greasy, the meat is very tasty(sweet even) Service: There’s the cashier that takes orders(Lisa), and the occasional kitchen staff that will support Lisa whenever the place is way too hustling and bustling. My advice: Call it in and get it to-go. The place is somewhat small with 7 or 8 tables that seat 4 each — it’s a quick get and go. If you become familiar with the place, they start throwing in perks like free boba. Overall: I really like this place — lots of food for a good price. Nothing spectacular, but it’s nice and tasty!

Though it’s hard not to judge the restaurant based on its use of styrofoam plates, bowls, and cups,(I’m all about eco-friendly practices) the food is pretty darn good. For 2, we ordered fried pork chops and #18 on the noodle menu(dried noodles with minced meat and veggies) from the server’s recommendation. Total came out to $ 8. YAY Plus, free dessert! It’s some sweet jelly thing, I think tea jelly,(I’m not Chinese and don’t know the name of it, but it’s delicious!) It perfectly balances out the saltiness lingering in my mouth from the pork chops and garlicky noodles. And it’s a lot better than some of the Chinese desserts I pay for at other places. One lady takes all the walk-in and to-go orders so service can be pretty slow. But she’s so nice and speaks pretty good English so no complaints there. But one star off for not serving slushies throughout the year. It’s only during the summer. But in socal, there are only hot summers and cold summers, so why not? Please, the slushies have been in hibernation for too long!

starting to love this place more and more. they have cheap and good taiwanese food. Cheap doesn’t always equal to bad. everytime i go now, i would order the squid stew with noodle, it’s so hot and the bowl is filled of ingredients. yum! other recommendations: oyster pancake ba wan i always order the same stuff here, but i love that place because of their service, their chili sauce with some little radish in there, and their complimentary tea jelly at the end! their tea jelly is cold and refreshing and in generous portion. that would stop me from ordering shaved ice thou cuz i get too full after that. this place is so much better than QQ in any possible way, so don’t even compare even though they have the same menu.

$ 4.95 for the best beef noodle soup around and it comes with dessert. The boba here is buy one get one and its pretty good. The $ 1.50 sausage is so so, I like Sin Ba La’s more. I come here on the weekend after I do my recycling across the street at Ralphs. The staff speaks fluent english and is sweet and helpful. Great food for under $ 5 deal. Plenty of parking and CASHONLY!!!
