Pretty average fusion type sushi. For the hard-core authentic sushi fanatics, this place will drive you absolutely NUTS. Everything is fusion, so you’re going to get some pretty«interesting» rolls that you would never find at establishments like Ikko Sushi or Matsuhisa. Taste wise, it wasn’t bad. I didn’t have anything that I would spit out into my napkin or anything, but you have to be in the mood for non-authentic sushi to eat here. It’s also not cheap to eat here either, and the service can be spotty, so another minus on top of a minus! The restaurant does have a few saving graces which help garner it a 3-star rating — namely, the décor and ambiance are pretty nice. I could see guys taking first dates here on a friday night. Dim lighting and eclectic decorations. This place is also situated conveniently in a mall, so you have shopping and a movie theater right there — what girl wouldn’t love that? Also the crème de la crème: the honey toast with chocolate sauce. It’s absolutely FAB!!! I could see a girl’s pants just flying off over this dessert, lol. It would take about a month of gym sessions to burn off the calories in one of these bad boys — but SOFRIGGIN’ GOOD! It’s the only thing that could tempt me to go back.

My daughter and I came here for lunch. She had the salmon sashimi and I had the spicy tuna bowl. The food was decent, and price point was rather reasonable. I enjoyed the interior: dark wood with splash of color. The service was fair.

I enjoy coming here after watching a movie at the AMC upstairs. They have a beautiful interior and exterior. I came here twice with girlfriends after we finish watching our movie of choice. The service isn’t so great and the food was mediocre. I had their california rolls and udon and squid, good. But again, it’s mediocre. Their desserts were beautiful though and tasty. I don’t have much more to say, but meh… I’ve had better.

I heard that they changed their special… all you can eat WITHOUT the appetizers. If you want all you can eat appetizers, it is $ 3 more. Now, why the harsh review? Because I would not go just to eat shabu shabu! What made this place great was the great deal, shabu shabu plus appetizers… sooo not worth it anymore and I am pretty sure I will never be going back, unless I want to overpay for a dinner during my shabu shabu craving season.

12.10.10: Came to Tokyo Table before and before the movies we were hoping to catch a light snack. As we walk towards Tokyo Table I noticed something different, the layout and that some tables had hotpot. Huh? I guess I haven’t been here in awhile. So we walked to the front and I noticed there was no hostess stand. I was trying to get someone’s attention but that’s when the bf point out to a sign that I passed. It was instructions. Oic. So we have to seat ourselves. We found a booth and the lady clean it while we wait right next to it. However, I have no idea what we were suppose to do. There were no table service and the lady who cleaned our table did not replenish it with the necessary stuff. Such as chopsticks, napkins, soy sauce and etc. So according to the instructions at the front we have to choose what we want on the sheet of paper that is provided and bring it up to the counter bar. Well jeez, the idea is kind of clever because the workers really don’t have to do anything, but«we» have to do everything ourselves except for when they bring out your order. I had to get my own refill, own straw, own soy sauce, own plates. It was a never ending my own service. I ask the guy at the counter where I can get refills and he just pointed to the counter where the hot water was for my tea. I guess that’s the way they service people. I really didn’t liked that idea, however it is what it is. We ordered two rolls and one roll I ordered from the unexpected happy hour. I think I will try their shabu shabu here which is ayce but hopefully they bring the food on a consistent basis but based on the service I don’t know if I want to come here because of that. well maybe ill come here again while i wait for the movies.maybe.

Two and a half stars, rounded up to 3. Came here for lunch after the gym with a friend. I saw the AYCE Shabu Shabu for $ 15.95 and I had to try. The price included rib eye steak, the usual vegetables, udon(more like rice noodles), a drink, a sushi roll, and a choice of several appetizers, not bad at all. The steak is not wagyu by any means, but it is not road kill by any means. Although not the most well marbled beef, the thin slicing helped a lot. The restaurant provides a sesame based sauce and ponzu sauce. Garlic, daikon, green onion, and chili oil are all provided Two things prevented the restaurant from getting a higher rating. The first was the way the restaurant is set up. The waiters do not take your order, you check off what you want off the menu, write your table number on it and then hand it in at the counter. After you hand in your order, everything else occurs like a normal restaurant: the waitstaff will bring out your order, refill your dirnks, and bring you the check. It is just the ordeing that is different, it is strange. The second thing is the policy that everyone in your party has to order the AYCE, which is really strange. Since there were only me and my friend we ended up splitting up the tables since my friend didn’t want AYCE. What if there were like 15 in our party and only one person wanted AYCE?! I guess you could try to convince everyone else to order AYCE or you just have to sit apart from your friends.

If you’re looking for authentic Japanese/Asian food, turn your car around and drive out of the ridiculously crowded mall parking lot. If you’re looking for Asian«Fusion» at a decent price with somewhat generous portions, you’ve found what you’re looking for. I’m a little confused about the cohesiveness of a menu that includes both yakisoba&bibimbap. Are they Japanese or Korean? The bibimbap was full of flavor, but the yakisoba was lacking. My friends and I also tried the sweet potato fries, but how could you go wrong with a deep fryer? Our waiter was nice enough to comp us dessert for my friend’s birthday, but he carded her to make sure that it was indeed her birthday. He(I think his name was Brad) mentioned that it was management’s protocol. We were a bit peeved, but when the dessert arrived, I could see why. It was a massive piece of brick toast(artfully carved out and arranged) topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Brownie points for the dessert, but the food was mediocre. I’ve heard this place is good for happy hour/drinks. I’ll have to take full advantage of my new 21-ness soon :)

The food is bad, service is bad, almost everything about this place is bad. Come here only for happy hour drinks, other than that, don’t waste your time. Recommendation: If you have to get something, get drunk @ happy hour

They changed to self serve recently but the price tag is more like full served restaurant. You have to take the order yourself to the bartender table & pay over there. If you need condiments, get it yourself. If you need to order more food, you need to walk yourself out again. Pretty annoying. I’d expect they reduce the price to fast food price with this kind of service.

Came here for a late dinner since I live so close to the mall and this place is always packed! 1st off, inside décor is adorable! We got a table with a sofa + cushions. Such a cute little place for dates or even a girls night out. Being the sashimi-lover that I am, we got the Assorted Sashimi Plate($ 17.95). Came with 3 pieces each of yellowtail, tuna, salmon, and a pile of squid. I admit I’m not an expert of sushi quality but I was really impressed with the freshness and quality of the sashimi. The fish was very smooth, fatty, and soft — melted in my mouth :) Hands down my favorite dish of the night! Next we got Red Eye Roll($ 9.50) which was basically spicy tuna roll with another slab of tuna on top. This was also really fresh and yummy! Great quality and portions! Since that wasn’t quite enough food for us, we got one more roll: the Yellowtail Roll($ 8.50). BAD choice. Tiny pieces of yellow tail with cucumber. It was so dry and hard to swallow all the rice. Ordered this one because I was so impressed with the yellow tail from the sashimi plate. Unfortunately did not translate :( This place seems to have a vast alcohol selection — too bad we didn’t come during happy hour. We got a beer: Echigo($ 9.00) which tasted very light, crisp. sort of like korean beer. its one of the those microbrewed bears. Thought it was very good :) We also ordered the sake sampler($ 12), which comes in 3 flavors. Beef, Chicken, or Seafood — to pair with whatever you are eating. The beef is supposedly more sweet, the seafood is more dry, and the chicken is inbetween. We got the Seafood sampler. I don’t like Sake, so I had only a few sips. But they provide little instruction cards with the cups to explain the flavor. Kind of cool :) All in all, I had a good time. I could never really complain with a belly full of sushi :)

«Everything in moderation, except moderation,» said my high school history teacher. Our class laughed, well, the half of us that got the joke anyway. In retrospect, we should not have laughed. Moderation is a sacred thing. It keeps us breathing oxygen instead of choking on carbon dioxide. It is homeostasis. It is the balance of life. Take for example, the green tea latte I had at Tokyo Table. It was green, yes, but it tasted like a cup of half and half with sugar in it. I’ll give them the benefit of a doubt and say that they actually started with a cup of green tea and merely forgot to stop pouring in the dairy. Then there’s my lobster dynamite roll. Comes out with no wasabi. Okay, I’ll live. What I can’t live with is any chef who thinks smearing a liberal amount of mayo over something constitutes as preparing a good dish. Yes, I’ve had«dynamite» dishes before, but like I said, moderation is sacred. Moderation is especially important with mayo which goes from being«ooh, rich and satisfying» to «eww I’m having a heart attack» pretty quickly. As a more pleasant alternative to satisfy your lobster roll needs, I recommend the lotus roll at Kabuki instead. Of course, there’s that service. There were exactly 2 tables being served as far as we could see, and our check did not arrive in timely manner. As a matter of fact, the 2 men that came AFTER us, got their check BEFORE us and promptly left while we were sitting there wondering if our experience here could get any worse. That last misstep on their part was one step too many– they had crossed the border of «bad» to «one of the worst places I’ve ever eaten at including dirty restaurants in China that gave me diarrhea but was still better than this». Moderation is too humble of a thing. It sits in the background silent and invisible, under-appreciated, like that man that picks up your trash every Thursday before you even stir from your sleep. Oh, but if he’s not there, when the shit starts piling up, you’ll smell it, and you’ll see it. The fact that the effects of moderation go unnoticed is its biggest strength– that means everything is in balance and we can all go on enjoying our lives. So Mr. Wilson, I would like to change your joke into something unfunny, but timelessly true, «Everything in moderation, ESPECIALLY moderation».

They are now offering a Happy Hour menu available during the weeknights and I believe Sunday night. All of their dishes are $ 3.00 and their alcohol ranges anywhere from $ 3.00-$ 5.00. $ 3.50 saketinis and $ 3.00 shochu sodas. So far, I’ve tried the spicy tuna on crispy rice at RA, Katsuya, and Tokyo Table but I still think RA takes the cake on this dish. The crispy rice isn’t so crispy here, and the spicy tuna isn’t spicy at all. The albacore on crispy rice tasted a lot better. The albacore tasted like it was seared. It wasn’t too fishy and I normally don’t like it but I thought it was delicious here. I think if the rice was actually crispy here, it would’ve overpowered the albacore. The soft texture of the albacore and the firm crunchyness of the sesame infused rice made this dish a perfect pairing. The prices are more than generous and I’m surprised especially with what you’re getting! Tokyo Table is obviously not Matsuhisa quality but hey, their Happy Hour prices are kick as$!

I love this restaurant for its sushi pizza and honey toast. The sushi pizza is sushi rice, crab, onions, and scallop all baked on a sheet of seaweed. Then, it is topped off with a slice of jalapeño and spicy mayo to give it a kick! You’re probably thinking«yeah, yeah, you can get the honey toast at guppy’s and ten ren’s tea zone», but you are wrong! FYI, those are brick toasts. Now stack TWO brick toasts, drizzle it with chocolate fudge or caramel(whatever you like) and top it off with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. All brick toasts should now step aside because there’s a honey toast breakthrough!!! I’ve been here twice and both times my male servers were FAB-U-LOUS~ if you know what i mean ;) which is why this place even more fabulous!
