This is best Mexican around! I have tried many items from the menu but always come back to cheese enchiladas. They’re perfection! Plus have the kindest employees. I love the informal atmosphere and always leave happy. Try their taco truck in Eureka on Myrtle as well.

Best Mexican food in Humboldt County. The food literary makes me feel like I’m back at home. The Jamaica is perfectly sweetened, the tortillas are cooked at the optimal temperature, la salsa huevona is superb. I don’t mind coming here every week, the super burritos are humongous. I love this place. The workers there make me fee like I am part of their family. I have personally spoken with Norma(the owner) and was able to learn a lot about her struggles coming here. You will not regret going there. Also, they cater to vegetarians as well!

I ordered a super carne asada burrito and it’s as good as most burritos in Humboldt county, which isn’t saying much. From the moment the burrito arrived I knew it was going to cause me some troubles since it wasn’t rolled tightly at all and I could see the lettuce oozing out of the sides. The lettuce itself is another issue, it has no place in a burrito. The salsa bar is a nice touch and motivates me to eat in instead of ordering takeout, however the salsa lacked salt which is a major problem for something as simple as a Pico de Gallo. Also the Horchata was a bit grainer than I like it. So overall, meh. I’ve experienced better

Their burritos are great, I got the steak and loved the way they cooked it. Service was great as well!

Excellent!!! Drove up from LA to check out Humboldt State. I know good Mexican food, and this place will not disappoint. Awesome carnitas, homemade horchata and friendly staff. It’s a little off the beaten path, but try it out, you’ll be glad you did.

This little Taqueria is kind of off the beaten path, located off to the side of an industrial/retail complex on Carlson Dr. on the north east end of town. Just simply, awesome food with great lunch specials. The Carnitas plate is hard to beat, a large portion of tender shredded pork served with hot tortillas(though not homemade) rice and beans. Service is fast and friendly, this family run restaurant makes wonderful food all day that you can just tell they take great pride in the foods they serve. I’ve eaten here a few times now and it has always been consistently good. The salsa bar(up by the counter) offers a variety of choices; red, green, smoky, hot and fresh pico along with sliced peppers — I’ve sampled everything on the bar at one time or another and they are all good and made fresh. As well, there is a limited beer selection available along with other soft drinks. This La Braca style taco bar is a great place to grab a decent lunch at a very fair price or to take the family or friends for dinner that won’t break the bank and you’ll feel full and happy when you leave. All in all, a great place to eat. Worth a visit, kind of runs odd hours, and sometimes closed even when stated open, it’s a nor-cal thing. Anyway, give them a try you’ll most likely be glad you did. have been here twice and had the Super wet burrito which was great if a little light on the wet, and the Quesadilla burrito which may be the only burrito I am ever going to eat ever again. Great friendly staff and great salsa.

Burrito! Burrito! Burrito! I love La Barca, it has satisfied and cured my burrito cravings and frustrations! I only eat burritos from Mexican restaurants, and it’s pretty good for the area, I’d say the best I’ve had in humco(it’s so hard to find good food up here). I get the super chile replenish burrito wet, so yummy, the horchata and jamaica are refreshing and authentic. This is like my second home, no one understands, just kidding, but I recommend people eat here if they’re looking for good food. Also family owned which is great! Support the local economy!

I lived in Mexico, this is great Mexican food, I had an outstanding chile relleno & my hugs and had shredded beef enchiladas! My tamarindo drink was home made, sooooo yummy, just like it is in Mexico, most places use the powder here they use the real fruit. The people were so nice, helpful w/tips on the area too. I’m glad we ignored the only 2 poor reviews one that had nothing to do w/the food or the service but of a private party one time for a baptism, they had Mariachis. Why would someone ‘want’ anyone to go out of business? The other, hmmm, they must not know much about real Mexican food. The prices were very reasonable too. We didn’t expect to find this little sweet place so close to where we were staying. I loved the table clothes & in general, the décor was traditional Mexican. Again, the folks there were really nice too…

I have had a hard time finding good Mexican food in Humboldt. Far as authentic and fresh Mexican food this is so far the best I have found outside of Mexico itself. I lived in San Diego for several years and have been south of the border several times and this food is on par with some of the best I have had. I would particularly recommend: 1. The Carnitas are amazing 2. The Horchata is fresh and delicious 3. The Chili relennos are perfect and the sauce is delicious 4. I loved the fresh Tamarad juice, like Jarritos but better The staff is polite and the restaurant, is quite comfortable. A must see.

Discovered this great little spot on… where else? Unilocal… and it’s a game changer. Good Mexican food in Arcata/Eureka has up to now been an oxymoron: bland, from-the-can, Gringo garbage. Not here. The food is freshly prepared and cooked by the owner who quite obviously knows these recipes from her native Mexico. We had the carnitas(a substantial portion of savory, juicy goodness) and the chile relleno(done exactly the way you’d want and expect from a great cook). Great meal. Also, this is a family place which takes great pride in the food and experience they are providing. Jason gave excellent service and took the time to explain the origins of the restaurant – quite the antithesis of a disinterested college server with no stake in the matter but a tip. Great food, reasonable prices, committed staff… we’ll be back.

Everything I have ever eaten here has been amazing. The first time I tried there food was from their taco truck and even that was good. This is by far my favorite Mexican food in Upper Humboldt County.

What a gem this place is. Not a good location for such great food and service. We arrived around 5:30 pm. Literally no one else here so we were skeptical at first. But we were amazed. After we arrived more ppl showed up for their take out! Jason, son of the chef/mom, recommended the chili rellano. So we ordered this plus a side of a chicken enchilada with green sauce. OMG! So much food was delivered. And was it tasty! Green sauce is nippy but doesn’t linger too long. Three of us ate for less than forty five dollars not counting tip. If you leave here hungry it’s your own fault!

Minus one star for not being open on weekends. I can’t really figure out the business strategy of being closed on peak days. Other than that, the food is amazing and the prices are fairly cheap. I’d say it’s pretty authentic, however, I’m a Humboldt County native so I’m not sure I can accurately judge.

First time trying this place and I was pleasantly surprised. I got the adobada burrito and it was quite tasty. It was around $ 7 I believe and definitely worth it. I was staying at the hampton inn so it was close to the hotel and it was quick service.

This is good Mexican. I’m not typically a horchata fan, but this stuff is homemade. The wet burrito is huge — definitely enough to share. Enchiladas are delicious(but spicy). Chile relleno was great. Surprisingly, the most enjoyed was the pulled pork torta. So so good! Service was also good. :)

Consistently the best Mexican food I’ve had in Humboldt County. Decent/good service. Server stays in the back eating, no drink refills, and I have to wait for my check. The food is great. I hate going into a «Mexican» place and have them not know what carnitas is. I never leave this place hungry or unsatisfied. Hey, maybe serve those delicious breakfast burritos during breakfast hours?

Great breakfast burrito served all day. Fresh salsa bar was excellent. Definitely worth the stop.
