Kevin is extremely knowledgable and helpful every time I come in. He really cares about the dancers he works with, whether it’s jazz, contemporary or ballet. He keeps an amazing variety of dance clothes, shoes, tights, skirts, and all the little things for your feet and hair. Even hairnets, which believe me is not always easy to find right before a performance. Pricing is comparable to what you would find online and his seasonal sales are amazing. He also makes a point to order just about every style of medium long leotard he can get, which you can’t always find online. Totally recommend checking with him first!

This is a wonderful dance store in Humboldt County. The owner, Kevin, is always so friendly and helpful. He goes out of his way for each every customer. We look forward to our annual September trips to stock up. He also is very up to date with all the local studios and has exactly what each studio requires for their dances. During recital season, he fills the store with tights for all the last minute people, like me! The store is clean and well organized and there is a wonderful assortment of quality dance wares. No junk here! The prices are also very competitive. If you are looking to buy anything for a dance class, stop in here at Threadbare you won’t be disappointed!

This shop is so awesome! I stumbled upon it on a rainy Arcata day. It is the only store around to carry a large variety of dance clothes and shoes, yoga/​Pilates clothes, and other accessories.
That said, I found the prices are still reasonable for the quality. Since the first time visiting the shop, I have met the owner and one other worker. They gave excellent customer service without being overbearing or pressuring me to buy.
