I learned about 13 Forest from an artist who was about to show some work here. I attended the show and was impressed at the range, quality and attention to detail of every piece in the quaint and crowded(in a good way) gallery space. Marc is so passionate about every artist he shows and will encourage you to fall in love with every piece you talk to him about. I’m so happy with the piece I got! It’s tough to find a gallery owner that is so down to earth that you can just sit down and chat with. I see him out and about at other shows as he is involved in many communities of artists. I love supporting 13 Forest gallery and I tell anyone looking for their next piece of art to own, large or small, to visit this GEM in Arlington.(Side-note: it’s really not as far away as it sounds)

13Forest is my favorite place to browse and occasionally buy locally-made art. I usually finish my Christmas shopping by heading to 13 °F and having Marc, the owner, point me toward things for the various personalities of my extended family. They have stuff for kids(such as the fabulous hand-sewn, individually numbered limited edition Sock Monkeys), for teens(jewelry, desk toys) to grownups. Prices from $ 10ish to upwards of $ 1000. DISCLAIMER: I am a friend of the owners, but partly a friend because I love their gallery.

A delightful gallery which was coincidentally a welcome visual relief from next-door’s aesthetically barren(delicious) coffee shop. Loads of tasteful pieces that just make you stop and enjoy. The local art community is clearly prolific because the store had some truly beautiful creations. Mark was very gregarious: I was put at ease and didn’t worry about breaking anything once he struck up a conversation. Worth a look! More worth a buy!

Terrific place. It has everything you can want from a contemporary art gallery. Great selection of local artists, a good selection of different types of art and a broad selection of paintings in different styles. What binds their collection is a low key approach to displaying art, as well as pushing their customers over limits they’re secretly happy to cross but never did. Example: current display of works titled«Boston in Common»: different artists and painting styles, together forming a symbiosis of love for Boston.

I’ve come to 13Forest a few times for«Third Thursday» events and to buy gifts for family. This is the perfect place to find a cool piece of pottery or a print by a local artist. The rotating show is always interesting but not so interesting that someone who isn’t completely versed in the art world wouldn’t get it. The best part of 13Forest are the people that work there– friendly, knowledgeable and dedicated to local art.

Still love this place, but I was pretty upset that it was closed during regular business hours(mid afternoon) earlier this week. I went their to buy a gift, which I had to get elsewhere. It is still a great place when its open … so be ware … call ahead, especially if you come from far.

This place is FANTASTIC. Meryl Perlson, the owner, was so incredibly knowledgeable about everything in her gallery. Not only does she know everything about the artist and how they made the object, she seems to really, truly care about everything that she has to offer. Everything we picked up and tried on, there was a story behind it. I really wanted to buy something, but I didn’t know what. Most of the artists featured in her gallery are local artists. There were pictures, sculptures, jewelry, postcards, and loads more. She let us browse to our hearts content, and NEVER pushed us to purchase anything, which I love. Next time I am in the area and have a little money, I’m definitely coming here!
