Eh. They’re okay. I’ve only gone here once for carry out because it was nearby and I’ve heard a classmate of mine recommend Anakaren for good tacos… I have come to the conclusion that he does not know where to get good tacos, ahhah. My order was 4 steak tacos with flour tortillas. The meat was pretty dry… and the flour tortilla was alright. Also, their spicy sauces were extremely spicy for my taste buds and I can’t handle spicy well. The odor here is very pungent, so your body is going to smell like tacos after you leave, haha. If you’re gonna stop by to eat, then do it at a time where you’ll be going straight home afterwards to shower and smell fresh and gangstuh again ;) Interior wasn’t anything special and it was also very small, almost gave that feeling of claustrophobia. Almost. It didn’t seem like it was a well kept place, either. I got the impression comparable to an Asian Supermarket that’s been established for so long that people don’t expect much cleanliness out of it anymore. Highly likely that I will not return, unless all the taco places in the world happen to close down except for this place and I was extremely desperate for some tacos.

I ordered a taco plate and came out to the table not looking like what I ordered possibly not because the lack of being able to communicate. No one could speak English possibly the reason I had a not so pleasant experience. But the food was tasty what ever it was. Lol

Unfortunately my husband and I went off the great reviews from this place. I’ve been determined to find authentic Mexican food since I’m not originally from here. We went in the evening to place a take out order. Not only is the place disgustingly dirty but the food was kept in warmers instead of made to order. Don’t get me wrong, some places that are dirty dives are delicious but by far this place can not be in that category. The food smelled and tasted like dog food. It was terrible! The only reason my husband ate the food was because he was starving. I’d rather starve… Lol Never ever again giving this place a second chance.

Love this place. I always make my husband go with me because he speaks Spanish and that makes the ordering process easier. The papusas are great and the lengua has good seasoning. My hubby likes the menudo. I like the broth but I just can’t convince myself to like tripe no matter how many times I try it. An awesome surprise to me once inside, was the bakery. Great prices for an awesome assortment of baked goods. Muffins are my favorite, my husband and his family love the ginger bread. The only reason this didn’t get 5 stars is that the booth and floor was sticky.

Nice little Taqeria that serves individual tacos as well as some big platters. Also a bakery that has lots of pan de dulce, and great looking chocolate cakes along with Tres Leche that I have not tried but look luscious.

The definition of a hole in the wall with awesome food! The bakery is fantastic! The prices are so reasonable. Under 20 bucks for 2 people that includes a trip to the bakery.

After reading the reviews here, I had pretty high expectations walking in. i ordered 6 tacos and a pupusa. The prices for the regular dishes weren’t displayed except for their daily specials(pupusas were $ 2). The guy at the counter suggested getting a taco platter which I agreed to — yay for rice, beans and a scoop of guac. What I didn’t anticipate was him canceling three of my tacos. I missed out on the lengua and the barbacoa. I could care less for their chicken and their steak taco. The meat was on the dry side. I did enjoy the three sauces available on the table. They weren’t spicy but they did a great job moistening the meat. The pork pupusa was underwhelming. It was tough and dry. I’ve had better at El Salvadorena. Overall this place was a miss. I want to give it 3 stars but I honestly don’t see myself coming back. Don’t forget to pack Febreeze because this place will make you smell like tacos the rest of the day.

I was expecting some amazing tacos based on previous reviews but I wasn’t blown away. Tried the beef fajita, carnitas and chicken. The chicken was pretty good and moist. Carnitas were just ok and the beef were very disappointing. The beef was tough and lacked flavor. For dessert I got a cheese tart. It was pretty good, the crust reminded me of corn bread and the filing was slightly sweet. Overall, it was underwhelming. If I’m ever absolutely dying for street tacos I may come back since it’s down the street from me but otherwise I’ll keep looking for yummy tacos.

Three stars at best. I tried the taco platter which comes with three tacos, rice, beans and guac. The meat were all dry. You will get your calories worth from the rice and beans though. Service was not great due to language barrier. I ordered six tacos, confirmed with the order taker and only received three tacos. I went up to inquire and turns out he had only written down three tacos.

This place is heaven. They are hidden away from creation by the SETCC campus, but the food is outstanding. They have a restaurant side(walk up counter) and a bakery side. They also sell big, glorious cakes, which are wicked cheap and delicious.(people that own Anakarena, please don’t raise your prices).

The store has a bunch of flies in it and they don’t do a very good job at covering the meat. The tacos are $ 1.50 each. I got carnitas and barbacoa. The carnitas was huge chunk of meat and very saucy and made my taco soggy. The barbacoa was pretty good! The taco sauces are left out uncover for the flies… It was an okay place.

Pretty decent place. I had two fajita tacos on corn tortilla. And they were pretty good. The restaurant is clean. And the service is nice. Not a bad place to stop if you are in the area.

Awesome street tacos ! The service and environment isn’t great but the tacos were good enough to overlook all the other details!

I really wanted to like this place, because I have had their gorditas. First when we walked in, it felt like we walked into an oven. It was very hot in there. I ordered the chicken torta and my husband the tacos de barbacoa. The bread was old and the bottom half of my torta was very soggy. My husband said that his tacos were very greasy. Ok we know we have to consider the place. But it was overly greasy. The beans were not good at all. The restroom was very dirty. It’s hard to believe this business passes code. Sorry to say we will not be going back to this place.

Ugh. Not impressed at all. All the good reviews really let me down. I was wooed by the description of the chocolate tres leches cake, thinking how great it would be to get great street tacos and cake at the same place. But, it was not to be. First of all, it was sweltering hot inside, in May. Lack of A/C in a sit-down establishment = lack of respect for one’s customers. Star lost for this alone. Second, the raved-about chocolate tres leches cake was from a mix. Don’t believe me? Look at the ingredients printed on the package. «Chocolate cake mix, condensed milk, evaporated milk…“‘. It tasted like it was from a mix too. I would rather eat the regular tres leches from Tom Thumb, it’s far better than this crap. My husband’s pumpkin empanada was just«ok». Third, I don’t know what they do to their barbacoa but it’s more like stewed cow head than barbequed cow head. Not good at all and not what one expects from barbacoa. No one liked the barbacoa. Fourth, the rice and beans sucked. Fifth, the beef fajita street tacos were just«ok». Sixth, one cannot just get regular ice water — you have to buy a bottle of water. Mix this with how swelteringly hot it was in there and you can’t get away without a drink. Prices were pretty low overall, but it doesn’t matter if the place is bad, and this place was baaaad. If you want good street tacos, you can either go to Tacos La Banqueta(the best), Danny’s Tacos(the one on Arkansas by the lake) or Pancho Tacos. If you want a good bakery… um, I think the best Mexican bakery I’ve found so far is in Fort Worth but Marquez Tortilla factory’s bakery isn’t too bad. I see no need to ever visit this place again though, it was wholly disappointing in every way.

Such a great, small hole in the wall spot for $ 1.50 tacos. I love the seasoned pork Tacos with corn tortilla! We order about 6 of those every time, yummm. The fajitas taste good as well, tried beef tongue as well, a little too chewy for my taste. & They also have elotes! I think a few said they only accept cash but we’ve paid with our card before. just an FYI. Only bad thing about this place is you walk out smelling like tacos lol, so we usually take it to-go. Love it here though, can always count on a delicious quick lunch.

Such a gem! I love the $ 1.50 tacos, but I haven’t tried anything else. The tacos have about 8 or 9 different seasoned meats, and none have disappointed! I usually get the fajita, lengua, barbacoa, and carnita. I recently started getting pastor too, and I’m in love! These meats are just so perfectly seasoned and delicious. They’re packed and just about four or five gets me stuffed! The downside? You stink of onions from the time you walk in until the next time you take a shower! Don’t let the iffy interior turn you away! This is such an amazing hole in a wall taco shop that deserves recognition!

Stopped by after work the other night and walked into the bakery section of the place. There weren’t any bags or boxes to put the baked goods in that I wanted to purchase. I stood there waiting with no other customers in the place. I girl walked by me twice who worked there stocking donuts and completely ignored me. I gave it a few more minutes and then just gave up and left. Service at Anakaren sucks. Don’t waste your time.
