Anderson Sunoco

We have been taking all our cars to Anderson for gas, maintenance, repair, and inspections for over 25 years. These guys are true neighbors – friendly, helpful, honest, and reliable. Occasionally we went to dealers because of warranty requirements, but those places inevitably try to sell additional services. Back to Anderson: It turned out that most of those additional services were unnecessary, and those that were needed cost a lot less. We won’t even consider going anywhere else.

Wow, these people really helped me out today! I’m visiting a friend who lives nearby and last night I got a flat tire: a nail in the tire. I took my car there today to get the tire patched and spare taken off. Despite the cold, I got quick and efficient service. Thanks for saving me a lot of worry!

Stopped in on Christmas Eve to have a quick repair — the plastic belly pan had come loose driving through a flooded road last night. Ray couldn’t have been more accommodating. In and out in 15 minutes — and no charge. Got fuel and very grateful. Thanks Ray!

After a few years of not driving (I relied on public transit here in expensive Arlington), I purchased an old-​ish used car to get me around. The vehicle was in decent shape but I was having an electrical issue with the headlights. As I work near-​by and know many of the guys as customers of my own (who I have treated very well) I naively thought I would receive the same treatment. I couldn’t have been more wrong. I had diagnosed the problem with my vehicle many times over and told the team what the problem was. After keeping my car for 7 hours, I returned to find that the problem had not been fixed. However, they had to «run diagnostics» and in the end revealed the source of the problem was exactly as I told them– a bad wiring harness. I had to shell out $ 180 just to be told I was right, and that they were «unsure as to how long it would take to fix and how much it would cost». Very disappointed in how I was talked to and treated and I most definitely will not be returning to this location, no matter how desperate I may be.

I’ve bought my gas here for years. Cheaper by a dime than other gas stations within blocks of Sunoco. Also get my car serviced here. Brake pad replacements cost me half of what I paid at Infiniti dealership and also another time, Sunoco told me that I still had another 5,000 miles before I needed replacement while dealership told me that again i needed new pads and rotors. I only get car serviced at Sunoco now. Also extremely convenient for round the clock drop off and pick up.

I came here needing air for one of my tires, and the guys were extremely helpful. First, their air is free unlike just about every other station in the area. When I determined I had a leak of some sort, they eagerly sprayed my tire to find the leak. Finding none in the tread, they offered to remove it and give it a thorough inspection. I told them I didn’t have very much time, but they assured me they could do it quickly. They did just that and determined the valve stem was leaking and said it was a dealer item. Didn’t charge me anything for their trouble, but I pushed a five at the guy who did most of the work. I may try to start bringing my car here for minor service.

Had a very negative interaction with these guys back in late August or early September. Not an honest place of buisness. I had some issues with my 04 Honda Civic. It was over heating and I was stuck 45 miles from home in chesterbrook shopping center. They had my car for an afternoon and when they got back to me and told me I had a crack head gasket and fluid in my second cylinder. They told me it would be 2 to 2.5k to fix it and that it was not worth fixing it. One of the mechanics told me that one of the employees of the auto shop would buy it off me for 1.5k, so I wouldnt have to tow it 45 miles. I was stubborn and decided to tow it to a trusted mechanic in lovettsville who I preferred to sell the car to. I told him what was wrong and he said he’d double check. Turns out there were no cracks and no fluid anywhere. The thermostat was clogged and my trusted mechanic replaced it for 75 $. I was very confused and waited to write a review for this until some time passed. My civic is now 7k miles older and is running just as good as when it was new. I highly recommend avioding this service station.

Jim at Anderson Sunoco is an amazing car repair technician, super honest and helpful. He even suggested I find previous repair records when I took my car into him to make sure he wasn’t trying to fix something that would still be guaranteed by another car repair place, which did in fact save me money.

Jim was recommended to me 3 years ago by a neighbor who knows cars. I dropped off my older car (100,000 miles on it) and basically asked him to $&% me 9 ways to next Sunday. Well, actually, what I said was, «It hasn’t had maintenance in years. Look it over and give me a list of everything that needs work.»
Jim called me later that day and said, «Your car’s fine. Needs an oil change, but that’s about it.»
Can you believe that? I’ve taken my car to him ever since.
Plus he’s ultra convenient. Because it’s also a ²⁴⁄₇ gas station, you can drop your car off or pick it up any time of day or night.

I frequently get gas at this Sunoco because it tends to be cheaper than the other stations along Lee Highway. It’s generally very efficient, but I don’t like having to go into the office for a printed receipt for the self-​service credit card machines at the pump. The machine is supposed to issue you your receipt and needing to go into the office is another step that can be avoided by fixing the machine. The desk manager is usually busy doing other things which means I have to wait for my receipt.

I love this gas station!!! I bring my car here every year for inspection and they are as friendly as can be — with a warm small-​town feel.
They do it very quickly and don’t tell you that you need all these extra services (like Jiffy Lube) if you don’t need it. I think that’s very hard to find around here.
