Lee-Lex Service Center

I have an Audi, and I just had to go to the dealer to have a warranty item fixed.
The dealer’s terrible service reminded me that I have to review Lee-​Lex and tell all Audi customers to go there and get Pong to service their cars. He used to be an Audi tech and he’s very nice, responsive, and budget-​conscious. I’m very grateful to him.

Lee Lex is a small, honest, long-​time neighborhood auto shop whose owner began as a mechanic in the shop and clearly loves his work & respects his customers, and values his team. No frills. No free coffee. No fancy waiting room w/​TV. No loaner car. It’s close to the Ballston and East Falls Church Metro stops.
If my car needs Lee Lex’s help they take whatever time is needed to explain the problem they discover — and why they are recommending a particular fix. And they offer choices. But never a hard sell.
And — on the rare occasion they feel a car problem could be better addressed by a dealer — they tell me.
They have a top Washington Consumer Checkbook rating — but don’t publicize it! When is the last time you were at a biz that didn’t plaster in their window their great Checkbook rating or other award?
Customers usually find them through word of mouth recommendations — because they sure don’t advertise much. Lee Lex has taken care of my Volvo for three years and my Toyota for 10 years before that. A friend in North Arlington had been using Lee Lex for her Toyota happily for more at least 15 years before I found them 10 years ago.
I try to avoid chain businesses in general — so it’s especially good to find a reliable local car mechanic.

A few weeks ago I was having some difficulty changing the shift knob in my car & drove it over to Lee-​Lex just to have one of the guys take a look at it & help me out. After explaining the situation to the guy behind the desk, I was then introduced to Christian (the resident «Jeep Guy») who graciously fixed my shift knob for free & sent me on my way after answering some of my car repair questions honestly. Impressed by the kind service, I took my Jeep Wrangler back a week later to have new seats & carpet installed by Christian. He did a great job, worked quickly, & gave me tips on how I could save some money by doing a portion of the work by myself in advance. He gave me an accurate & honest estimate, & as work progressed he kept me updated with the billing process. My car was complete in a timely manner & looked fantastic when I picked it up. I was blown away by how considerate & professional Christian & the other guys working the office were throughout the process. All of my questions were answered honestly, & I was treated with respect throughout the process. I was so impressed by how transparent Christian was about pricing, giving me tips on how to save money from the get-​go. I didn’t get the feeling I was perhaps being swindled or overcharged, a feeling I associate with dealing with dealerships directly. I am so grateful for the guys patiently putting up with me picking their brains & asking for advice every time I stopped by or called in. anytime my car needs work in the future, I know where I’ll take it. Can’t rave enough about these guys.

Just took the car back to these guys when the dealership said it needed brakes. The dealership lied and these guys saved me $ 350! They also told me the struts needed to be replaced. Good, honest work.

Reliable real mechanics. And nice guys. They worked on my 13 year old 170K Acura and did a great job. They were also honest enough to tell me NOT to fix certain things, and when it was time to sell/​discard it and bite the bullet to buy a new car (even though they could have made more money by getting me to pour more $$ into it – rather than lose me to a dealership w/​covered warranty.) They are what you hope for in a neighborhood mechanic. Smart and helpful.

I highly recommend Lee-​Lex. Chris works on my 2002 Ford Explorer and my 2003 Infiniti. Honest and they know their stuff. I’m no car expert and they patiently answer my questions. Really good at recommending the immediate fixes and the ones that can wait a little while if money is tight. Nothing like a trustworthy, top-​quality car mechanic in your contact list.

Honest folks with reasonable prices. The work is always top notch.

This is the biggest rip off joint in all of Arlington, perhaps all of NOVA. or dare I say it the entire USA. They gave me an estimate of nearly 8 grand to fix my car, when I took it to Auto Stop on four mile run they charged me less than a quarter. Now if this was just me I might be willing to forgive and say «it was just me» but my girlfriend had a very simliar experance with them. She took her car in and they said it would be «several hundred but that is with not even really looking at it» meaing they would of just opened up the cost… long story short these guys will rip you off if you let them. I do not doubt they are talented and know how to fix cars but they’ll make you pay for it.

Good work, honest team.
I usually service my own cars. For the jobs I don’t want to do, I trust them.
PS: they know old cars… mine are 59 and 63 vettes
