Ford Eye Center

I walked into the office 1 minute late and they say we will have to reschedule because you missed your appointment. This was even when my other family member had a appointment over an hour earlier and is still waiting in the waiting room. Got put on hold for 13 min and they answered and put me back on hold twice. Not a great way to great a new customer when their are other choices for doctors

Ridiculous wait time to get in, two years in a row. I’ve been here for 50 minutes and still haven’t seen anyone. This is with an appointment! Who was 2 hours for this?

After researching for what seemed like weeks trying to find a reputable eye place that also took my insurance, I finally decided on Ford Eye Center. All I needed was a simple ‘check — up’ eye exam. I had lost my previous glasses and needed new ones. Being new to the area I was worried about finding a place that would give me an accurate prescription. Ford Eye Center seemed to be the best choice since they took my insurance, were close by, and had mostly good reviews.
Firstly, my experience overall was good. I did have to wait about 45 minutes or so, but I honestly didn’t expect to be in quickly since there were many people also waiting, and I had over heard some staff saying they were running behind/​understaffed that day.
After being called back, I was taken i to a room with a nurse who was to take pictures of my eye or something to get an estimate of my prescription (this is what she told me at least) –this is where it gets a little iffy– Apparently, it was this poor girls first day on the job and she didn’t have a very good understanding of how the machine worked. She spent about 20 minutes maybe (?) trying to figure out how to focus my eye, she had to get some help from another nurse, then finally another one, all the while I’m sitting with my head on this chin rest staring at this view finder while this machine is moving all around my head, haha. In retrospect, its a bit funny/​awkward to think about. But they finally figured it out and the girl apologized for the issues and I feel like this is not something that happens often, so don’t assume it will happen to you as well.
Afterwards I was taken to another room where I got my eyes dilated and pressure checked, the nurse that did this was nice and talkative and answered all my questions efficiently.
Next I saw the actual doctor to check my vision. I was scheduled with Dr. Baker who did a good job with the eye exam, it seemed pretty thorough and he seemed patient enough in the times when I asked to go back and forth from ‘1 or 2, 2 or 3′(if you’ve had an eye exam hopefully you understand that) I’m a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to my health, so I’m not the easiest patient to handle, but Dr. Baker seemed to handle it well.
All in all I would say Ford Eye Center is a good place to go, staff seemed professional enough, and exam was thorough, I’d recommend them to my friends. I only gave them 4 stars for the wait and the awkward experience with that eye machine, haha.
I can’t speak for their optical center just yet as I’ve yet to get glasses with my prescription. I wanted to take it around and do some more researching for prices, etc. Though I have a feeling I’ll probably be going to their optical center since all the other places I’ve looked into have bad reviews. Also, Dr. Baker was totally chill when I told him I wanted to shop around first, no pressure to use their optical place, I like that.

What a great experience! Despite being very busy and booked solid, the staff and doctors worked together to fit me in with a painful eye condition. Wait time was minimal even then. Everyone was friendly, helpful and knowledgable. And very clean! Someone was always cleaning and disinfecting. Recommend highly!
