My Aunt had never been to a hookah spot so we all decided to head over to this place based on my brother’s recommendations. We come on a Sunday which was the jackpot day, half off hookah – $ 12.00 #winning! It was slow on the Sunday night we came so we were able to have a seat anywhere, which was perfect because my Aunt wanted to watch the football game as well. We ordered some hookah and a few drinks along with some pita bread. Our waitress was very attentive and checked on us often. The hookah tasted very good too. The set up here is really nice and chill. My aunt really enjoyed her first hookah experience. Hopefully, next time we can catch the happy hour specials as well.

This place is super elegant and very on point for a night out. It’s very good for after work cocktails, meeting up with friends or even a sexy date night from what I could see. I actually ended up here last night for a work function. Honestly, I’d have never know about this place if not for us filming there last night. This said I was shocked at the trendy and sensual environment they’ve created here. It had very mature yet fashionable decorations and an atmosphere that will compel even the most stressed person to sit, relax, and unwind. I was able to see both floors and was impressed by the transition too. The decorations and atmosphere was just as good from the first floor to the second. The seating was ample and very comfortable, all while maintaining a cozy feeling simultaneously. I also had the pleasure of meeting all the waitresses and bartenders who were working and the GM. I was very impressed by everyone I met. They were all attentive, friendly, outgoing and had a real down to earth presence. I enjoyed the lack of seemingly stuck up attitudes I tend to encounter in the dmv. Although my company is closely affiliated with this restaurant, I’ve never been to any of the Latin concepts locations before. This was an awesome experience from start to finish. I noticed too while there this is quite a melting pot for all to come and just have fun and enjoy themselves without judgement. The clientele that frequents here also seems to be very down to earth too, I found this to be very enjoyable. The most remarkable thing to me was the ample seating and that the place didn’t have a smokey environment despite having hookahs. This is a win of a restaurant and lounge, a truly revolutionizing experience for me since I am so over most of the bar and nightlife scene in this area. I am not often in Clarendon but will definitely check this place out again very soon.

My first time in Guarapo I was so impressed and thought every city should have a joint like this! Hookah combined with food and bar, plus dancing… upstairs and downstairs. It’s a great environment to mingle with old friends and meet new ones. I love the music they play and it’s a comfortable place where you can just get up and dance anywhere or not dance if you wish to just chill. Only downside I think is they play music way too loud, so it’s a bit hard to talk to your friends without shouting.

I love this place. The lemon mint hookah was one of the best I tried. The ambience is great and dj played some great music. There is a dance floor on the next floor. Food was good as well, there are few vegetarian options. i absolutely loved the quinoa salad and classic mojito. It was a little expensive but worth it… Will definitely visit again and recommend this place!

Guarapo is one of my favorite hookah lounges in the area because of a combination of items: 1) Appearance — it’s clean(unlike Chi-cha. *ahem*), it’s cute, and it’s spacious. Chances of you getting a seat, whether inside, outside, or upstairs, are high. No waits, no cover charges. 2) Solid hookah flavors — they have a wide range of hookah flavors and brands that they carry. One area to improve on though would be to get the disposable hoses — they smoke SO much smoother than the regular ones. 3) Prices — they have happy hour on weekdays and specials on Sundays. That’s a deal almost every day of the week! 4) Ample parking — unlike the district, or Darna, where finding parking can become a sport, the area near Guarapo usually has parking nearby. This makes my choice Guarapo almost every time. 5) Good food — My favorites are the arepas, empanadas, and the tacos. These are the reasons why I keep coming back to Guarapo over and over again, and probably will continue to do so over the Gazuza’s and the Soussi’s out there.

Stopped for happy hour and must say I enjoyed the place. I am more fo a sports bar type however the empanadas were awesome. I had a very filling burger and fries as well. The beer specials were $ 4 for basics which isn’t unreasonable in this part of town. I will definitely give it another shot.

The food is great. Specially the chicharrón tacos. The only thing I dislike was the fact the server took over 20 minutes to bring the drinks that the bartender had on the table ready for 10 minutes. Beside that food is good but when service is slow I just feel disappointed. On Mondays he have 1 dollar tacos.

The service is great and they have good hookah. I love going on Sunday’s because the hookah is ½ price and it’s super chill. My experience with the food has been good so far, my only complaint is 1 out of 3 times of ordering the calamari, it’s was rubbery and really fishy. I couldn’t even eat it. I really liked how knowledgeable the waiters were especially when giving me recommendations for hookah flavors.

I went here for a networking event which was held on the second floor. I went for an end of summer networking gathering and I really don’t think this was the right venue. I say this because the upstairs is contained and while there are large windows they are covered with frosted plastic. The furniture upstairs was composed mostly of old coaches is various degrees of disarray. My impression was this was this place is kind of divy(old coaches, frosted windows, red plastic light covers, etc.) and I don’t think I would recommend it for business related gatherings. This is a 2.5 I am rounding up partly because it was an event and I know they were trying hard. They did have a pretty good wine selection and the prices was reasonable. I also enjoyed the munchies, imparticular the crispy plantain strips were yummy and served well as vehicles for the guac and queso which had a nice texture and kick. The food and wine were pretty good and the folks working the bar were both nice and helpful. I doubt I will return unless it is for another event(hopefully with a more social flair) or because someone else wants to try it.

I have lived in Arlington for two years. Guarapos has great food and the best hookah in the dmv. AND the quality has never gone down. Anna-Lee is the absolute best. Please ask for her. She takes care of her customers exceptionally. SHEISAMAZING! This is the place if you would like a nice evening with conversation, an amazing live band and GREAT service. For bar service David is awesome. This is a gem.

Have you seen the Empire Strikes Back? Do you remember the caves on the swamp planet Dagobah that Luke entered to face his fears? Well that is what Guarapo reminds me of. Hmmmm… Hungry I was. Walked across the street I did to find hippies smoking outside. In order to face my fears of lung cancer walk inside I must. A band was playing it was. Toes tapping they are even though jedi mind trick allowed me to understand not the language. Hmmm drunk women dancing reminded me of the Rankor beast as teeth missing in mouth there were. Ordered the drink I did. Ordered food at the bar but forgot silverware they did. Hmmm… apprentice waitress. Go away you will. Return you must not. Hmmmmm… come back you shall later… and may forks be with you.

The atmosphere wasn’t too bad. Clean, modern, and intimate. It had an upstairs dining section as well as downstairs with a full bar. When we went on a night that so happen to be an event night for the last showing of the bachelor. None of us were fans but we stayed for the hookah and $ 1 tacos anyway. Hookah had a large mouth piece that made the hookah burn as you intake. And the tacos weren’t that great. I got what I paid for. We didn’t stay long. We were not satisfied yet so we continued our night elsewhere.

This place is just not good. Had some of my friend’s platano. I love platanos, and yeah, no. Idk how you can F up platanos but this place goes out of its comfort zone to do so. Staff is friendly and great. The beer is good for what they have, but no. Go to this place if you don’t care much for your taste buds. The hookah is also way overpriced.

Started with the arepas platter and empandas. The arepas are definitely worth ordering again. That warrants a 4 star. Sorry, I don’t have a picture; it was placed on the other side of the table and they picked at it before I could take a photo. The arepas look thick but are surprising really soft and a great texture. Chorizo was my favorite of the meats. We also had carne and… prob ropa vieja(I didn’t get to try that one). Empanadas seemed more like they were made with something similar to a pastry, where it’s kind of flaky/crumbly. They were just alright. I went with the lomo saltado based on our waiter’s recommendation. I was pretty disappointed at how it came out. The sauce was too tomato based for my liking. I’m not used to that in my lomo. I don’t even know why they ask my how I like my meat. They just over cook it anyway, lol. Our waiter was pretty good in terms of quickness in his service. After we finished eating, we went upstairs to continue the party. Music was decent; could have been better and our waitress up there was super slow. We went to the bar in between our drink service.

We were there on a Saturday night. Downstairs dining area was nice and quiet but it was too cold to be comfortable. Then upstairs, it was full, warm, and LOUD! Hookah took 30 minutes to come. Server took 20 minutes to take our orders. It took 40 minutes for our drinks to come. And 1 hours to get our check. Overall, horrendous experience. Never coming back again because it wasn’t ALLLIKETHAT. DJ was okay, he continued to play lot of Hispanic music… Ehhh nothing special!

So I had a filling dinner and I’m looking to smoke a cigar and relax. I’m not from the area, what’s a gent to do on a Monday night? I was walking by Guarapo and I see ropes outside their door? I see a sign: Hookah Happy Hour Well that’s enough to get my happiness started for an hour. I have a seat at the bar and tell the bartender, I never smoked a hookah. No problem, He picks out the blend for me and fires up a bowl. I have a beer on tap and I am huffing on this thing! I start talking to the bartenders, they have a guy in training. They teach him how to make a Mojito. Then, they give it to me for free? How cool is that? Nice place to kick back with a beer and smoke a Hoohah bowl.

I came here for an event, so we had the whole top floor reserved. The place looks really nice and is spacious. I got a glass of sangria, which was alright, but not the best. The thing that really ticked me off was the calamari. It came with no dipping sauce. Nothing but a lemon. We asked the bartender why and he said they got a new chef who doesn’t put sauces on anything, but adds it into the flavor. That sounded intriguing, except that the flavor really wasn’t anything special, and it really needed dipping sauce. We asked the bartender for anything, any kind of sauce, and he said they had none. No sauce whatsoever. The first floor looks like a cool place to smoke hookah(not my thing). So, if you like hookah and no sauce with your food, this place is for you!
