They are fast and accurate. But, the quality is just not there. Very bland and greasy. You do get a lot of food, though. My garbage disposal got one heck of a workout.

I went here on a Saturday night because I heard this is the hot spot in Clarendon. I was pretty disappointed with the crowd. If you’re older than 21, I wouldn’t recommend coming here for a good time. This is a fun place for college students but not for the older crowd.

I think this place has changed a lot since I was a kid but this used to be my favorite Chinese restaurant growing up. I get that they had to make business adjustments and have their bar open at night but it makes me mad uncomfortable to see high school kids in bars. Don’t get me wrong underage drinking in Arlington is the norm but back in my day(God that makes me sound old) we just went to house parties. It sounds like they changed their menu a little to make it more of an Asian fusion thing but I wish they would go back to how they used to be.

I’m basing the review on food by the price. I see other reviews that base this place on the service. Just my opinion, but some of the best and most authentic places I’ve been to have servers who are not trained for the best manners. It’s all about the chef! If you want good service, go to a formal and fancy place: P I first went to meet a friend and the first impression that the place is a dive bar. It’s the oddest mix of America, Chinese and Japanese. I expected some dinky Chinese place, but this is something entirely different. The sushi Tuesday is half off and for 24 pieces, it came out to be about $ 15. It’s not the best quality sushi ever, but it’s sure worth more than the price. If you are expecting Jiro’s quality sushi, expect to pay 6000% more. That percentage is literal, I’m not joking. It was for such a good price that I told my coworkers about it and they decided to go. I went for their Wednesday entrées special and got their Chinese beef and broccoli. It was one of the best I’ve had. The sauce was really amazing. I’m definitely coming back to this place. The food is bomb.

Half-priced sushi on Tuesdays! I get the spicy crunchy salmon; it does the job. This is a really casual spot to enjoy time with friends.

Worst service ever, especially by the bartender(Ariana). Went for a birthday celebration with 5 other friends. As much as I hate the word«racist» being thrown around in every possible situation — this had to be just that. So there were 2 white girls, 2 Spanish girls and 2 black girls in my group. 2 white girls got served immediately. People came in front and got their drinks — when one of my black friends asked if they had a specific drink — Ariana said ‘yeah’ and walked away. Then my friend waited for a good 10 – 15 minutes and granted, it’s a busy Friday night — however how do my two white friends get served but my two black friends didn’t? So my friend mentioned to Ariana, «hey, we’ve been waiting for about 20 minutes.» And Ariana put up her hand and said no you haven’t and walked away. Again, serving all these white folks who came in after us — including my two girls who are white! So of course, blood starts boiling because it’s ridiculous — my white friend got her check and I wrote on the check, «way to be racist.» Ariana saw me write it and yet put he light on my two black friends and yelled, «I’m not racist, get out of here!» And only kicking out my black friends, yet I’m the one who wrote it as she watched me??? The security guard escorted the girls out and it was the worse experience ever!!! Never again … Ariana if you read this, figure out your life … America isn’t one color honey and you’re Asian … How are you judging? I feel sorry for you and hope you get help …

This place confuses me. It looks like a Chinese restaurant and a college sports bar once sat next to each other, then someone bought them both and simply blew out the wall separating the two establishments and made it Hunan Number One. Giant beer in 1L mass beer mugs and the DJ’s choice in music are pluses, but I could do without the college vibe.

Worst Chinese food I’ve ever had. Crab Rangoon dry and overcooked — lacking cream cheese. Beef and broccoli and shrimp pad Thai had zero flavor. On top of that the delivery guy ignored my delivery request to ‘please call when at the door’ because I live in a split level duplex and I did not want to disturb my neighbors at 10pm. Delivery guy banging obnoxiously on our door and completely ignoring the request to call me did end up waking them up and disturbing them. I never liked this place for the bar atmosphere to behind with but thought I’d give it a shot for food and ended up being just as disappointed. The only reason this place is still open is for cheap drinks and kids with fake ids.

Visiting DC and had a brother in law bring me to a bar he used to go to in college. It was strictly a College kids bar. Great place to chill and hang out. It is slightly dirty, but what college bar isn’t… Very random that it’s a Chinese place but their beers were in huge medieval mugs which was cool. I don’t hate it. Warning it is very loud so if you expect to have a catch up convo with friends you havnt seen. It will be hard.

I actually am surprised I haven’t written a review of Hunan previously, because I’ve been coming here with some regularity for almost five years. When I first graduated college and my friends and I were looking for a place we could go as young professionals that had reasonable drinks, and where we could socialize and meet people fresh out of college, and this spot was perfect. The beers are large and cheap. The other drinks are well priced as well, but really come here for the giant beers that are super cheap. On the weekends this place has a community vibe and honestly as someone who’s now in their late 20s, don’t come here on a Friday or Saturday night after 10p unless you want to be surrounded by those in the early 20s.(Very early 20s or late teens — last time I was here two gentlemen who were talking to me let me know they were 19 and apparently this is now a spot for those looking for a good place to use their fake ids.) During the week this is a great place for a quite drink and meal(the food is surprisingly good) or to watch a game.

Really rude Asian manager kind of ruins the experience. Screaming f bombs to customers; however she took drinks from an intoxicated customer and have them to my friends and I. I might be outside of their demographic of 18−22yr olds.

I’ve only been to Hunan during the bar hopping hours in Clarendon so I can’t say anything about their food. My friends and I always make an effort to stop by here for their Hunan Bombs. Two bombs for the price of one, $ 15. They are a little weak, but I get them for the red bull in it. Plus it’s always fun to take bombs The service though is slow on busy nights. I waited and waited to order a drink and watched as the bartender attended to others around me and even those who arrived after me. I’m not sure what her problem was but after waiting over 20 minutes and still not getting her attention, I went over to the male bartender who immediately served me. The interior is dated and dingy, but if you want cheap drinks it’s a good place to settle for.

Beer is flat. When kindly asking for a different beer I was greeted with an extremely rude manager who proceeded to let the tap run into a shot glass, showing some beer head, and exclaiming that I was wrong. Just because there are bubbles from a bad pour(almost said poor pour) doesn’t mean the CO2 isn’t off. I could have been wrong but the rudeness was uncalled for.

Don’t order carry out here. They are super rude on the phone and will probably spit in your food if you have any sort of issue where you question them. I will not be ordering from them again. To Hunan: If the same person answers your phone normally, good luck getting and keeping future business. And, I agree with the other reviews, the owner is terrible! Very combative.

Oh, Hunan. We meet again. My friends and I used to come to Hunan pretty much every Thursday night usually after Whitlow’s to grab a large mug for cheap. The place sort of went downhill for a while. I’m pretty sure they closed it for a month or two to renovate/fix up some problems they were having and this is the first time I’ve been back in about a year. I was pleasantly surprised. We had a group of 14 and they allowed us to move the tables in the middle of the bar side by side so we could all sit with each other. It was easy enough to get a beer on a Wednesday night so we all ordered at the bar and went back to our seats. We aren’t the easiest group to stand I will admit, but the staff was gracious and helped us with anything we needed. ALSO — half off entrees on Wednesdays. That was a phenomenal play. I got the combination thai-fried rice and asked him to spice it up. He did just that. The food was actually sneaky good. Some friends got the reg fried rice, orange chicken, and a few other things and everything I tasted was solid. I’ll be coming back here soon, just like the old days.

We were very displeased with our order. The quality of food has diminished significantly. The Mongolian beef was fatty pieces of meat with nothing but onions in a non spicy sauce. The fried wontons were so over fried, hard and cold that you could not bite through the center non meat meteorite. The chow mien chicken was very bland and again mostly onions and chunks of barely cooked garlic. Over the past 2 years the food has really been degrading and this evening’s meal tops it. Save yourself the over priced bill for food not worth it and pick another restaurant.

This place is a nice space — plenty of room. The first thing I noticed were the workers and how attentive and friendly they were. The food was good — I loved my spicy tuna rolls. They’re happy hour menu is perfect for a pregame. I was sort of reminded of a college bar feel and it picked up as we were leaving. So it seems like the spot for a Friday night. We watched the game while we ate, had a few drinks and we were happy campers after that. I’ll be back here.

Been here a few times and i am glad a friend introduced me, this is by far one of the best places to get sushi! This was my first time trying sushi and every place i’ve been to thereafter doesn’t even compare. I’ve had the Veggie Spring rolls which are made to perfection and they are not greasy. Cucumber rolls and California rolls are so tasty, i couldn’t stop eating them! I know the items mentioned above are not sushi but i am vegetarian and if you are too then you have to try this. Their draft beer is served in a massive jug for only $ 3, you drink that alone and you can get full. Tuesdays is half price sushi… that’s the best day to come here! I can’t wait to come back here again!

Im not really sure how to describe Hunan. Its basically a Chinese restaurant by day, and a fratty college bar by night. DRINKS Dirt cheap. You can order a massive beer for less than $ 8 making it the best drink deal in clarendon. Shots and shooters are really cheap as well. Last time I checked it was $ 12 for 2 shooters, and they are pretty big. FOOD I’ve only ever had their spring rolls and they were really good. Either way the food is just as cheap as the drinks. ADVICE If you are over the age of 25 skip hunan. Every time I go its full of people who barely look 21. There is always something spilled on the floor and chances are you’ll see someone 1. fall 2. pass out 3. puke or 4. get kicked out. But here is the thing about Hunan — its SO cheap. I’ll admit i frequent this bar more than i would like to admit but my friends and I use it as our pregame. So here is my advice — if you want cheap drinks and don’t mind being surrounded by college students, hunan is the perfect choice. However, if you’re looking for a more young professional crowd don’t even bother walking in.

Favorite dive bar in Arlington. Bar staff is very attentive, work fast, and efficient(Pic in review). Serve big cheap beers. Hunan Number One has been around for years. This place is also a restaurant during the day and serves great Chinese food at reasonable prices. Check this place out if you’re in town
