Called and asked if they had room for five in ten minutes. They told us to come in and we would have no problem. Arrived and they told us there would be a 40 minute wait.

Ping is overpriced for what you get. We ordered tea, edamame, pork buns, and two signature rolls and it was close to $ 60. I get more food at my favorite sushi place in NYC for less than this. We waited awhile for our waitress and for our sushi even though I saw it ready a lot earlier. The food was decent. Pork buns were a little bland. The edamame was good. The Ping roll was fabulous but the Vegas roll was too large and bland. I had to take it apart to make it work. For the price I would choose somewhere else.

I’ve been here twice so far. Everything we’ve ordered has been delicious — lo mein, fried rice, beef/chicken/shrimp spicy something, gyoza appetizers. The ambiance is great and the décor is very trendy. There’s a sushi bar in the back that looks popular, though I don’t like sushi so I haven’t partaken in it. The service is speedy and attentive, with water glasses being refilled when they are half full/half empty. A downside may be the prices. Solid enough for an occasional meal or a date night, but the prices are too steep for me to make it a regular or semi-regular option. Many of their chicken dishes range from 15 – 19 dollars, and the beef and seafood items are similar or a little more, depending on the item. Overall, great food and nice atmosphere.

I gave this place many tries and for the price the food should be amazing. Food here is not very good. I rather order my Chinese food from many other places. General tso chicken is bland and boring. Chicken wings are disgusting. Crab rangoons are OK. Steak cubes appitizer sucked. I never had the sushi here so can’t say. There are better places to get tastier Chinese food.

My first visit to PING by Charlie Chiang’s was last week and it was memorable! I always enjoy sitting close to the sushi chefs to watch them work. The chefs were not only entertaining, but educational and very kind. They recommended the special of the day, which was out of this world tasty! Great place to go for sushi, atmosphere and customer service. Two thumbs up!

This is one of my fave local asian restaurant, I won’t consider them a Chinese restaurant since they also offers sushi and other Asian fares. They have a healthy options(brown rice/steam veggies/low cals) which is a huge plus for me. My fave dishes are the cheese fried rice(pick your protein with onion, egg and cheese) and pan fried noodle(again you can pick your protein). The reason why I only gave three stars was because while the food is good and decent, it is not the best or memorable. I also came here during a Halloween weekend and was given free jelly(in the shape of an eyeball!), cute!

I rarely write bad reviews but this instance warranted it. My family and I just moved to the area and we’re looking for a good local sushi restaurant. So we ordered sushi from ping tonight and it was easily the worst sushi I have ever eaten. My wife and father also ordered sushi of various kinds and had the exact same experience. For the price, the quality is inexcusable. The nagiri was stringy and did not taste fresh. The seaweed used in the rolls was tough and chewy. We also ordered the lo mein, which is serviceable, but bland. We will absolutely never be back. This was extra disappointing since the restaurant is so close to our new home and had the quality been good we would have been regulars.

Ok happy hour, most of their food is drenched in some BBQ sauce rather than any authentic effort of a real taste. The drinks were affordable but the the happy dishes seemed like they were made days before and warmed up.

Not sure why everyone complains about this place because we love it, but that being said, we almost always get delivery. It’s on the pricier side for Chinese(so one less star) but I find it’s not greasy and just overall better quality. We always get the same thing and it’s always been the same yummy food, cost the same, taken the same amount of time, & been a great night in. If you’re not sure, order the following, can’t go wrong; (for two) Shirlington roll Spicy tuna roll Large hot sour soup, ask for wontons! Chicken fried rice General tsos $ 53.65 45−1hr Yum! *mooshoo is also good

Ordered delivery this evening and the Hong Kong style noodles we received were DRENCHED in oil. Besides having almost no flavor the food arrived lukewarm and almost an hour after being ordered. With so many other Chinese food options in the area I don’t see myself ever trying Charlie ’ s again.

Definitely would never come again. I’ve had two experiences with Ping: I ate there a few months ago in person and ordered delivery last night. When I ate in person, I asked about a specific item on the menu, I think it was the healthy shrimp bowl. I asked something like, «I’ve never had it before, could you tell me what it tastes similarly to?” — the response was«it’s, you know, normal.» Oh. The food ended up being very expensive and pretty tasteless. It tasted as if there was no seasoning and there was very little seafood in it, comprised of mostly reheated frozen, not fresh, veggies. Last night, I hesitantly gave them another try and again, they let me down. It was a Thursday night, I live maybe 4 minutes’ drive from the place, and they took 70 minutes to deliver. When they did deliver my order, Kung pao chicken, it wasn’t even spicy! Very unimpressed and disappointed that I wasted so much money on something with so little flavor. Save yourself the hassle.

Cool place and interesting drink and food menu. The place serves Chinese fusion and sushi. I came for sushi. The service was good but a bit slow. The food was good, not the best sushi, but good. The blue crab Cali roll is different, it did the trick. I got a second roll on the specialty list, hara-kari or something, I can’t remember but it was huge and extravagant and really spicy. Borderline fire breathing dragon status. I love spicy sushi but something about this one made my eyeballs sting. I wouldn’t get that again. All in all it’s a cool place, I was just visiting the area so probably won’t be back but doesn’t mean u shouldn’t try it

I love this place! Ping is my go-too spot. I am always in the mood for lean protein, complex carbohydrates, and a beer. I can manage my portion sizes here. If I want small-I get small. If someone desires large-they can have large. Ping uses the freshest ingredients and always presents dishes in the most artistic manner. The staff is always pleasant and prompt. The menu is extensive and offers a great variety of Chinese/Japanese and sushi choices. Prices are reasonable and the atmosphere is inviting and modern. Happy hour is from 3 to 6 with great offerings. I have tried most items on the menu-sashimi, hot & sour soup, steamed jumbo shrimp & scallops, Singapore noodles, and my favorite-Vive Las Vegas(a rainbow roll dressed to kill). All are amazing! I will never get tired of this place! I practically go here every day. They also deliver and maintain speed and quality.

My girlfriend doesn’t like seafood, so I rarely get to indulge in sushi. Luckily we were able to sneak in for a quick roll or two this afternoon. I was blown away. After living in Los Angeles to two years, this was the best sushi I’ve ever had. Service was a little slow, but that’s because each roll is made fresh and orders can back up. But if you want some great sushi, this is your place. I recommend the Dyno-mite and Volcano — instant favorites.

PING has definitely turned things around when it comes to catering to the lunch crowd. They finally understand that for most us, time is limited and so they’ve focused on getting folks in and out. For whatever reason, this restaurant is never crowded during the lunch hour, so getting a table as soon as you walk in is relatively simple. In addition to their regular menu, they also have a bento box lunch menu that promises to be delivered in 15 minutes or less. The bento box option offers a variety of options, so narrowing it down to one might be tricky. I opted for the szechuan beef and sure enough, it arrived within the allotted time frame. The bento boxes are pretty large in size, so it makes for quite the hearty lunch meal, and all for under $ 12. The service was great(and quick) and we were in and out in less than a hour.

I give Ping 2.5 stars. We were looking for some good Chinese food in the area… but unfortunately we will need to keep looking. PING has the price of a higher quality restaurant yet without the authentic and flavor to go with it. My husband and I split an order of the general Tsao’s chicken and the sesame chicken. Both were average at best and slightly overfried in our opinion. Nothing special and at $ 15 a plate for Chinese food, we were unimpressed. It was very packed here on a Friday night so the dissapointment after a decent wait would prevent us from coming back. Carlyle, guapo’s, and Luna grill are all much better options in the Shirlington area.

The boy and I visited PING by Charlie Chiang’s after a disappointing experience at Guapo’s down the street. We were already a bit full from margaritas and guacamole and an appetizer, but still decided to get dinner at PING and were NOT disappointed. I ordered a cup of hot and sour soup and also the spicy tuna roll. This place is a nice fusion of both Chinese and Japanese cuisine. My boyfriend, in turn, ordered the Honey Tempura Chicken(tempura chicken, pineapple, sweet honey apricot sauce(chicken or shrimp). We really enjoyed the food and the ambiance and our service was great too. This restaurant is located conveniently in Shirlington Village and there are free parking lots near there.

My friend recommended this place. I think it’s worth much more than 3 stars. The happy hour is really good but is only for 4 or less crowds. So we had to move to another table when the rest of our friends came. About 5 dollar mini dishes(we got 6 dishes — sushi, general tso chicken wings, seaweed salad, etc etc) and great alcohol and beer selection. They have a big selection of food and alcohol. The sushi alone is great. The area is also a nice place. Very pet friendly and lots of restaurants in the area. They had a wine tasting event down the street also. But I would repeat here. Sushi is great. The chicken is not as breaded but that’s also great. And this is restaurant is just… Great.

I like Ping. I think it offers a good variety of modern Asian dishes, although I tend to shy away from the sushi here as I think there are better options in the area. The restaurant is very pretty, it is sleek and modern, although there are some dividers in the dinning room, it does have a very open floor plan. It does get very loud however, so it’s not my first choice for a date night. I am always impressed with the selection of beers available and their bartenders are awesome. Food comes out quickly and for the most part is very good. Their red curry is one of my favs, perfect smooth heat with a wonderful rich coconut broth. I have to say I was surprised that the crescent lettuce petals only had three pieces of lettuce, but I suppose I could have asked for more. Again, I like Ping, all in all it’s an OK place, just not my first choice.
