Update to my previous update with this library: If you want to keep your library record clear and ensure your returned materials are properly cleared from your account, DONOT use their outside drop-off box. Heck, if you can, I’d suggest taking your books to another Arlington branch. Two weeks back, I dropped off a book and a DVD in their outside drop box. Only the DVD cleared my account and the book, which was returned on time along with the DVD, never cleared and was listed as overdue on my account. Are you kidding me?! It took a few calls and complaints to get the charge lifted from my account. I’ve never returned Arlington Library materials late, so something like this was aggravating. Since then, even if I’m running late for work and have to risk missing my bus to work, I go inside to use their inside drop box. I’ve never had a problem with returns that way. If I lived closer to Central I’d use that branch more often instead. So today, as I was dropping off more returns inside, I overheard a man complaining to the woman working the desk at Plaza that he dropped off a few library materials Friday using the outside drop box and that today(Tuesday, August 31) they were still listed as checked out on his account. Okay, so this issue isn’t only a problem with me. The Plaza Library’s workers are very, VERY sloppy about properly clearing returns from the outdoor drop box. I stressed this in one of my complaints to Central about them, but it hasn’t seemed to sink in. So if you decide to use the outside Plaza drop box, buyer(or should I say«borrower») beware…
