Average bar food. Decent drink specials. Good place for a low key happy hour or a large group. Definitely not the trendiest place in town!

One of the few positives of the Ballston Mall! We probably dine here once a month and can always count on a solid experience. Tons of bar tops, reasonably priced food and good brews. Over the last two years their beers have improved drastically and they always have a couple specialty brews aside from the RB core beers. Wait staff always friendly and attentive. My only suggestion would be to bring back the daily 7 to 9pm happy hour with half priced beers and appetizers, as this was a great incentive to visit even more.

Rock bottom should be taken most seriously for it’s brewery, beer selection, and happy hour specials. It’s located inside the Ballston Common Mall on the N Glebe side so it’s easy enough to get to if you live close. The spring and summer is really when you’ll want to be here the most, as they have a great happy hour(especially on Wednesday nights) and the outdoor seating is nice when the weather allows for it. They have a very good beer selection but I might stray away from the food if I could help it. I would suggest maybe getting a couple appetizers while you’re drinking but the full courses are a little bland and a little pricey. Overall, Rock Bottom is a good place to meet up with some friends and have a few cheap drinks.

I highly recommend this restaurant. It has a laid back atmosphere yet the service is great and the staff is very friendly. There are many different food options on the menu and it has a good variety of beers on tap. Also there is a big bar so it is great to come with a group of friends. I have been here many times and I will continue to go.

The beer was some of the worst I have ever had. It may work for the hipster trash that frequent this place, but not for anyone that has an actual palate. Its not that it was bad tasting beer, it just didnt have a taste. These beers more closely resembled well water.

The food here is actually really good. Much better than I typically expect from a chain restaurant like this. I had the Chicken Waldorf salad & was surprisingly pleased. And it’s very affordable. I will definitely come back here to eat again the next time I’m in the city.

Great place to watch the game! great food… down side, its in the soon to be renovated Ballston Mall. Great freakin burgers!!! The beer type were all good! They need to move this place out of the mall! it can survive in its own space!

3.5 stars. I’ve been here a few times before, the food is decent. I love the Santa Fe Ranch Chicken salad. Today I went there with some co-workers. We all shared the Asiago Artichoke and Crab dip. It was damn delicious, even the toasted crostinis were on point. I decided to try the RB Ale Chicken. The meal was delicious overall even though it was a bit too salty and there was some oil residue leftover in the sauce. Also the garnish of paper thin scallions was unnecessary because they were too stringy. My co-workers enjoyed their meals too. We had a good and attentive server, Rachel you rock. :-) Would I come back? Definitely.

Ugh. This is bad mall restaurant food(Ballston Mall, no less. bleh). The turkey burger tasted like cardboard and the fries were just so lacking. Bland, uninteresting American fare. And with price points that are too high. However, I love that they have a brewery right there, and the beer options are good! Wouldn’t recommend stopping for a whole meal here, but if you’re jonesing for a nice wheat beer at the mall and maybe a small snack, Rock Bottom isn’t the worst you could do.

They didn’t have a short table at the«outside» seating for a person with stroller. So I thought that was little weird. Service was good. Our server was very attentive and refilled without being asked. Food was okay… Nothing special about it.

Not a bad place but also not fantastic. The atmosphere is nice, especially if you can sit outside. The bar food is good — nachos, flatbreads, etc. But don’t stray too far from this. The actual entrees and salads are not very good. Beer list could also be a bit more extensive in my opinion.

Great local brews, great food, SUPERB staff… I love it! The brisket stuffed burger is amazing! I love the Mac & Cheese and ask for some jalapeños in it, that really adds to the flavor!!! The beer rotates every couple of weeks, and they have a variety of darks and IPA’s. I am not an IPA girl but they have some decent ones. The wait staff is on point, and always great to chat with. Best part… Every Weds $ 2 beers til 9, and $ 5 apps… regular happy hour til 630 every other day of the week!

Come here very often for the Wednesday $ 2 pints. It’s always a great time and usually gets pretty packed. As far as pubs go, this place is pretty good. Most of their food is average, I wouldn’t recommend coming for a nice dinner or anything. This place is great to come to drink beer and eat food that goes well with drinking beer. Everyone raves about their ball park pretzels, but I have to say, their Jalepeno pretzel sticks with the jalepeno cheese dipping sauce is wayy better. I wish they did an equivalently priced growler fill on Wednesday, I’d fill my growler too.

Decent food and decent prices. Plenty of screens at the bar to watch your favorite sporting event. Good happy hour specials. If your in Ballston it’s one of the only sit down choices.

My food was delicious. Started off with the jalapeño pretzel sticks. They were more like twisted dough sticks. .but i loved the soft texture and they were delivered super hot with a cheese jalapeño dipping sauce which paired perfectly. It was not spicy. I then got the chicken BBQ salad. I wasnt expecting much but it was one of the most flavorful salads ive tasted. The greens were fresh amd crispy; there was a proportional amount of avocado, not like some salads where they skimp you on it, cheddar and jack cheese and tortilla strips. It was tossed in a BBQ ranch tyoe dressing, but it wasn’t heavy on the dressing at all. Bursting with flavor i highly recommend. I also got a side of onion rings(i know whats the point of the salad anyways right? It was Friday…). Bf got the beef tips and those were pretty good too. The only thing i wasnt a fan of were the onion rings. Its a given that fried food is greasy, but these were mushy and when i took a bite it was seeping with oil… maybe it was a good thing they were bad because i didnt finish them. Service here was almost nonexistent. We saw our waitress three times — when she took our drink order, brought our drinks and then took our food order, and when she brought our food. No one checked up on us or asked if we wanted another drink. We had to ask a one nice gentleman who was clearing tables go take care of our check! Despite the service, i would be back for the food and the happy hour.

Used to be ok… After a series if disappoints I’m over this place. I won’t waste your time with what used to be good, it’s not any more. The beer is served warm. It should be cold. The food is also warm. It should be hot. The burgers used to be outstanding.(So good that I’m ignoring my rule about not reliving the past. Lately they have been consistently tasteless. The waitstaff are nice enough but it’s as if they’ve never waited tables before. All in all, it’s time for me to seek out a new favorite restaurant in Ballston.

Ive been going to Rock Bottom for as long as I can remember. As a kid, I loved the food and now as an adult, the beer makes it even better! If you’re heading to Rock Bottom for a beer, you won’t be disappointed. They brew everything from a fruity IPA, a dark coconut porter, and a delicious winter warmer. Depending on the season, there are different casked beers as well, and usually their taps rotate. If you go to Rock Bottom and try to order a bud light, don’t get offended if the server gives you a weird look. Despite being located the first floor of Ballston Mall, Rock Bottom Brewery offers delicious beers, at good prices! Food wise, Rock Bottom hits all the marks. Their appetizers are delicious — I personally recommend the santa fe egg rolls or the jalapeño cheese dip. For main dishes, the steaks are definitely the way to go. There are also ribs, chicken options, and delicious soups as well. Basically, Rock Bottom meets are the requirements for an awesome restaurant. An added bonus? This restaurant brews its own beer! Side note — Rock Bottom also has awesome happy hour specials. On Wednesdays pints are $ 2 and there are food deals as well!

I really enjoy this place. If I want a frosty brew or some delicious eats, this place satisfies. First off, the Mac & Cheese… Oh yeah. It is awesome! I saw the price tag and almost skipped it, but it is worth it in size and flavor. A little tip for Jalapeño lovers, ask for Jalapeño with the Mac & Cheese. It really kicks it up a notch. Also, they use fresh peppers not pickled, awesome. Another tasty treat is the nachos with chicken. It is enough for three or four people though. If it Is just one or two, order a half serving. I love the nachos. Now the brew… The brew master Chris knows what he is doing. They have the year round offerings and then the seasonal and special list. The Rocktoberfest was outstanding this year, the Oatmeal Amber was absolutely delicious, and the year round White(Wit) is one of the best. If you are a fan of IPA then the CA Dreaming IPA is the best I have had here. It is far better than the year round IMO. On another note, they also do cask beer, but it isn’t offered all the time. Finally, the service. I have found all the servers to be very nice and very good at the job at hand. They remember the regulars and take care of the customer, what more can you ask for right? Bria & Kristy(i think that is how she spells it) are awesome. Definitely my favorites but they have all been great. Oh, one last note, get a loyalty card. Why not, you get points, you get rewarded with money on the card. That works for me.
