Sweet Lime Portrait Designs is simply the best place for families! Melissa and her team have been taking beautiful photographs of my three children for over 7 years now. These photographs are my prized treasures. They light up our hallways, grandparents’ homes, Christmas cards, and digital wallpapers. They are beautiful memory keepers, and they are enjoyable experiences for everyone. The kids actually look forward to these sessions, and how often does that happen? It’s like going to a friend’s house; the pictures turn out so well because they capture our kids being themselves. I couldn’t ask for more. And I couldn’t recommend her and her team more highly.

We are big fans and have been using Sweet Lime for years. The owner is a great portrait photographer and is wonderful with our kids. They love her, which makes for great pictures! The only thing I’ll say is that the studio is a bit cramped, and the prices are high. But the results are worth it.

Absolutely fantastic. Went here to get pictures taken for the Redskin Cheerleading tryouts. Michelle is super nice and great to work with. The pictures I ordered look FABULOUS– like right out of a magazine. I also ordered several prints which look equally fantastic. I highly recommend to models, actors, dancers, anyone looking to add to their portfolio.

I LOVE Sweet Lime Portrait Design. Michelle has been taking pictures of my family for years and her never ending patience and awesome way with small kids has ensured we get wonderful pictures out of every photo shoot. Seriously, the year my son was about 18 months, I foolishly signed us up for a photo shoot. The kid was at the height of toddler-​hood and tantrums and he had NO interest in staying still to get his photo taken, but somehow Michelle worked magic and we got the cutest photos of him that I will love forever. I echo the other reviewer who talked about her approach — she actually even made it fun.
She also has a fantastic team with great concern for customer service. We changed our minds only about a million times as we were trying to pick out photos and a package and they were so helpful to us throughout the process. I can’t recommend them enough if you live in the greater DC area.

I had a great experience at Sweet Lime. I recently brought in my 9-​month-​old son for the first time. I had never brought him to a portrait studio before and I was worried because he is very active. But a friend recommended them (she got beautiful photos of her newborn) and a 30 minute session is very resonably priced ($ 30) so I thought I’d try it out. I also liked the artistic style of the photos on their website, so different from the big chain studios.
Audra was our photographer and she was very sweet, so my son took to her right away. She captured so many great shots of him that in the end it was really hard to choose. We did some staged shots and she was really open to hearing what I wanted in terms of background, props, and poses. They have some really cool antique furniture (couch, chairs, footstool) as well as toys (wooden blocks) that create a classic look and you can also bring in accessories or toys if there are special ones that are meaningful to your family.
But the shots that ended up being my favorites were the candid ones where she just followed him and captured what he did spontaneously. At one point I had asked her to try to photograph his feet but he ended up pulling himself up on the chair that was in front of him and turning around and smiling. She got a great shot of him right at that moment that captures his personality perfectly. And in the end we still got a beautiful shot of his feet too. I really appreciated the fact that she was so open to my suggestions and really worked to get the shots I wanted, as well as having plenty of other ideas that I never would have thought of.
During the session where I reviewed the photos I was not pressured to buy more than I intended. Audra helped me narrow down the choices so that I could stay within my budget. She was very patient with my hesitancy and indecisiveness and I am thrilled with the shots I chose and the quality of the editing and processing. When I took the photos home I realized that one of the photos didn’t look right in the frame I have because the opening in the mat obscures part of the image. I contacted the owner and they were able to re-​print the photo as a different size so that it fits in the frame. It is clear that they care about their customers and want them to be happy with their photos.
We had such a great experience. I will definitely bring my son back when it comes time for Christmas photos!
