Got quick appetizers while I was waiting for Babes across the street. Eh. I’ve had much better fried pickles and fried jalapeños. They were edible but a bit on the salty side. They weren’t frugal with how much they gave us though but quantity doesn’t trump quality. But that’s what I can expect for $ 5 appetizers! Apparently they have happy hour on Tuesdays! I will say that their burgers and sweet potato waffle fries did look really delicious and since I go to school nearby, I’ll definitely take advantage of the happy hour and be back to try those. Their outside patio and tables are nice but wish they had a fan for this scorching summer heat.

Excellent food and great atmosphere but it seems like most of the interior tables are reserved when we’re there(for band groupies?) so there’s no place to sit. Sort of annoying.

Decent burger, amazing salad bar, friendly people. I don’t live in town, but it’d seen like a cool hang out spot

Great place to start if your attending a show at the Arlington Music Hall. Just park and walk to both places. Freindly bartenders and pretty good grub! The scotch is as hood as I’ve had anywhere! Mr Mikie recommends it!

Grease Monkey is my favorite bar in Arlington, and IMO the best place in town to spend a hot spring/summer day. The patio is nice, but the entire bar is open air and has a vast selection of brews on draught. Not drinking? The burgers are mouthwatering too — right on par with Twisted Root down the street. I hope as Arlington continues to develop downtown, we see less used car lots/pay day loan shops, and get more places like this.

Tuesdays being College Night where a burger and fries are $ 3.75(no student ID required) makes it hard for me to reason paying any more for food here. The burger was alright; I liked the sweet Hawaiian roll bun before it became soaked in fat. It comes plain, and you can add whatever toppings at their condiments bar, which is usually stocked with flies(my boyfriend said they added food covers and a fan to address this). The fries aren’t anything to get excited about, and they get limp after 2 minutes of receiving your order, so I would recommend eating those ASAP. You can substitute a caesar salad for the fries to cut back on some of the grease. Some draft beers are also $ 1, so you could get a meal and drink for $ 5 — cheap as hell. I would maybe come back on Tuesdays, but only Tuesdays.

I’ve heard good things about this place, so a friend and I tried it last week. Maybe the name should have been a clue. The fries were limp and greasy, the bun was far too big for the burger, and the patty itself was so salty I couldn’t finish mine.

This is a most excellent bar. The food is good, and particularly, the burgers are well above average. The main things I like however are the atmosphere and the servers. The crowd is a very eclectic mix… UTA students, biker types, middle aged couples, business men, a lot of regular working folks. This creates a good vibe… very different from the skinny jean + big fluffy beard, stick up their ass, Chris-Chris crowd you see in so many Dallas bars. Very friendly and relaxing. The main reason I like this bar is the servers. All are nice, accommodating and quick on the refill. I wish I made it over to Arlington more often.

I had the roasted red pepper burger. The bun was too thick for the patty, making it difficult to keep the sandwich together. The fries and the patty were much too salty. I had a headache for much of the afternoon as a result. The veggie bar wasn’t very fresh. The lettuce looked dry and old, and the tomatoes were almost gone. For the price, it really wasn’t worth it. I enjoy Twisted Root or Mooyah much more.

Got here pretty late around midnight. our server named jack helped us through the menu and then cooked our meal it was DELICIOUS. Not only can they substitute turkey but also can do black bean burgers on any sandwich. Wait time was short. I will definitely be back this place is awesome 2 thumbs up to Jack!

What a Find! We love seeking out new and interesting Burger Joints, which led us to The Grease Monkey yesterday and it is firmly one of DFWs Top 10 Burgers. Those that complain about the atmosphere apparently either miss the play on words of a mechanic being known as a «Grease Monkey» or just need to relax a little bit. Is it the best atmosphere? No. But does it accomplish what it’s trying to do? Yes. With a full bar and a small stage for live music, this place fits perfectly near a college campus. To the food — I chose the«Angry Burger». With Roasted Green Chilis, Fried Jalapenos, Chipotle Mayo and Pepper Jack Cheese, and loved every bit of it! The Seasoned Bun is lightly toasted yet soft and the Burger Patty is moist and well-seasoned. Not too hot, but a little burn for those who like spice. Also at my table, were the Chicken Fried Burger — which was eaten so fast, it must have been good. The Roasted Red Pepper Burger– also bragged about, and the Black & Blue Burger. Of all the Burgers, the B&B was the least favorite. I had a taste, and I agree that I’ve had many better. Maybe it was because it was only 1/3lb and grilled faster, but the Bleu Cheese was also not as good as I would like. For those that just like a Standard Burger, there’s a Monkey Fixin’s Station with plenty of Condiments and Veggies to top your Burger. We also really enjoyed the fries. Not sure what those that don’t like them are looking for. They’re well-seasoned, flavorful fries. Similar to Wingstop without the Sugar. Black & Blue Burger aside, this is a really good burger and one that I would highly recommend.

Are there better burgers around town? Yeah, probably so. But, I really liked everything about my experience here for a quick lunch with some co-workers recently. I had the roasted red pepper burger w/fries and a drink. I didn’t realize they had fountain drinks, so I’ll probably go that route next time, instead of the(pricey in my opinion) bottled stuff they have iced down near the register. I would definitely go here again. If it were closer to home, I could EASILY spend a lazy Saturday afternoon with friends, munching on food and downing brews.

Went here when my bf played with a big band on a Sunday night. A very unusual place for a big band, I’ll say! For me, it seemed like a cross between a dive bar and a burger diner. I enjoyed the show very much, and apparently, so did the other patrons, because the place was PACKED. I don’t have a lot to say about the food. The fries were limp and lackluster, and the burger was okay… nothing to call home about, really. There seem to be a lot of great restaurants in the area — I would pass on this one next time.

This is a great place to have lunch, happy hour drinks and dinner. Happy hour has inexpensive beer and well drinks and lasts for a long while. Burgers are great. On a recent trip I discovered the hot dogs. Big and awesome. Never had anything not up to par here. Try it out and just come at night and hang out and watch sports on the multiple screens.

The Grease Monkey does one cuisine: Burgers, onion rings, and french fries. I liked my burger. Quality meat. Good ingredients. What I didn’t care for was the dark interior of the seating area. You really are sitting in what was once a garage, which is ok if it’s clean, but the lighting is poor. I tripped over things at least three times. Minus one star for not being able to see in the awkward dining area. The food though is of high quality and great comfort food. Would I go again? ehh. If my friends wanted to go, I would go along.

This is the best place in Arlington… for bad food and poor customer service. I’m shocked it has as many stars as it does. I suppose if one is intoxicated they might enjoy this place, otherwise it just doesn’t make sense. After viewing the menu online, we headed over. It was super busy which I took as a good sign. Oh, how I was wrong. Waited in line for a few minutes and when it was my turn to order two of the things I’d gone there for were unavailable. In fact, several items on the menu were unavailable. Due to the busyness of the evening they were offering a limited menu. I suppose that would have been fine if there had been an announcement saying such. My friend had already ordered and paid so I had no choice but to order. It turns out that Grease Monkey was offering shuttle service to the Taylor Swift concert. That’s why it was so busy. There was no place to sit since not only was the TS gang in full effect, but there was a big college game on and half the restaurant was there for that. Thankfully someone left right as our food came. I wish the food had gotten lost instead. I had already decided never to return to GM but at least there was the hope of a good burger. Wrong again. My burger tasted funny, probably the weird butter mix they put on the buns. I tried just eating the meat but that was also unappetizing. My fries were good, so there’s that. However my husband got the sweet potato waffle fries and half of them were partially raw. Our dinner companion liked his food, so now we know never to trust his restaurant recommendations. Finally, within an hour after eating my husband and I both felt like we had bricks in our guts. It was not pleasant. Well, I’ve left no stone unturned on this review. We won’t be visiting GM again and suggest you don’t either. Arlington has many better places for burgers and brews. Don’t waste your hard earned money here like I did.

I love this place! The burgers are nice and juicy and the buns are unique. Tuesday is college night so I can get a good portioned burger at a good price!

This was my first time trying out Grease Monkey and I have to say it was pretty good! My fraternity decided to host a social night at this restaurant and it was certainly big enough to fit all of us there! That’s a huge plus for me! Their sitting areas that are inside open up to an outside patio so you can enjoy the nice cool fall breeze. Their bar is huge! And their drinks aren’t too bad either ;) I ordered the Portobello Burger, and well first off I’d like to mention that I absolutely LOVE mushroom burgers so I was excited to dig in! However, what I received was something that wouldn’t be considered your typical mushroom burger. At first glance it didn’t seem like I had the right order so I asked the worker if this indeed was MY burger, and he assured me that YES this was my burger. So I took it, I tried it, and… it was delicious! So here’s the deal: the mushrooms are fried, which is why it was unrecognizable to me, and they don’t pack on a lot of them. That was a huge bummer to me because I LOVE mushrooms. But ok… no big deal! It has Swiss cheese! I mean can a mushroom burger REALLY be considered to be authentic if it didn’t have Swiss cheese? The burger patty was… well it was a burger patty. Lastly there was this sauce on it that I never associate with mushroom burgers and I can’t quite describe it. I figured it was some sort of barbecue sauce. It wasn’t overwhelming though, and it actually complimented it quite nicely. Overall the burger was pretty good! I would definitely order it again! Also it has inspired me to want to try the other options on the menu to see how they spin it differently. The feel of the restaurant is a great hangout to end the night and grab a couple of drinks with some friends. Give this place a try!

I’ve heard nothing but great things about coming here. I gave it a try and so glad I did. The waffle sweet potato fries are the best!
