I’ve been here many times since attending UTA and I’ve now realized I haven’t been ordering the burgers medium rare like the idiot I am. They are ALWAYS cooked medium well which to me are a bit too dry. Do your self a favor and order them medium well and it’ll taste 10x better. Lots of different burger selections for you to choose. Homemade pickles are to die for especially bread and butta. Milkshakes are delicious as well!

I know it was probably a fluke: But my food & service was horrible. Took 45 min to get 2 burgers & the meat smelled horrible, bacon cold & overlooked, cheese cold… Just a bad meal. The music was the only good thing about the experience: but I don’t usually pay $ 30 to enjoy 60 minutes of classic rock. So I’ve spent my last dollar/minute at twisted root.

star 1: really cool decoration; interior design was pretty on point star 2: the food was BOMB. I was kinda hung over & wanted something filling but NOT greasy star 3: fries were cooked to PERFECTION. not soft, not hard & seasoned perfectly star 4: I got the freshman 15 sans the fried egg but smooshed fries & melted cheddar ?!? PERFECT I didn’t give them the 5th star because I think customer service wasn’t up to par. I didn’t feel welcomed and I thought since I took the fried egg off they could have given me the chipotle ranch but yeah; customer service needs improvement FOODISAWESOMETHOUGH

This meteor, is what we call being in burger heaven. Location is no longer serving hotdogs. It’s a lot like when joe dirt finds charlie and then charlie gets shot and he has to start looking for happiness again. Life’s a garden, dig it.

Horrible location. Ordered two sides of French fries. Thirty minutes later still no fries. Fifteen bucks for two draft beers. Fries never came, finally left. Won’t be back.

We stopped by this location after having eaten at Twisted Root’s Shreveport LA location a few times. We absolutely loved the food and atmosphere at the Shreveport location, and were happy there was one in Arlington. After ordering our food we ventured over to the seating area, to find an oddly themed dining room with assorted lawn/folding chairs, wooden picnic tables that had been carved up by pens and such, and bar stools at the high tables that were pretty hard, with several that had torn fabric. The only booth type area comprised of coolers that you sat on. The tables that had plastic tablecloths looked to have been partially cleaned, but were still pretty much dirty, and there was debris all over the floor. It was pretty off putting; we settled on a picnic table after trying out the bar stools. We figured we could deal with the seating and atmosphere if the food was as good as we had experienced in Shreveport, but that was not the case. We ordered a Spicy Goat burger, a Freshman 15 burger, a side of onion strings, a side of Treat Yo Self fries, and two milkshakes. The onion strings and french fries had been salted a few too many times, and the bacon on the burgers seemed to have been too, as well as the fries on the Freshman 15 burger. The patties themselves were actually quite good, but all the salt from the sides and toppings made them hard to eat. The best thing we had were the milkshakes, a birthday cake one and a fat Elvis one. We left half of the Freshman 15 burger behind, due to the salt content, and most of the fries, and nearly all of the onion rings were left behind as well. Pretty disappointing visit all around, and the only thing we might go back for would be the shakes.

I have eaten here a few times and I love it. If you like your burgers with lots of unique toppings this is the right place to go. Cool atmosphere as well. One location had Chuck Norris jokes that covered all the bathroom walls. When you order they give you a slip with a famous celebrity or movie character and they call that name on the PA system when your food is ready. So that makes for some fun. I’ve had the«enough said,» the Western, and the Big Tex. All were super flavorful. They have a chipotle ketchup that is awesome with the fries. They have these big jars of house-made pickles where you can get as many as you want. Wasabi pickles, atomic pickles, and a couple other kinds. The toasted marshmallow smores shake was also delicious. It would be worth it to go just for the shake.

Hands down one of my favorite burger joints in Arlington. The atmosphere gives off a hipster casual vibe, and there are TVs all around showing the latest sports games. They have this cool ordering system where they give you a ticket with a famous celebrity or character(I got Optimus prime a couple of times lol), and they call that name on the PA system when your foods ready. The burgers here are the spawn of heaven, descending down and giving up its immortality so you can feast on it and obtain true enlightenment. Normally I would get the Big Tex, and switch out for the meat for buffalo(ask what game meat they have that day. Also costs more $$). The meat comes medium well unless told otherwise, and the burgers don’t come with tomatoes unless you ask them. The burgers are definitely mouth watering, and they’ll have you coming back to try the other ones on the menu! The shakes are actually really good too, however it is a bit pricey. I got the toasted marshmallow smores shake, and it came out with actual toasted smores, ice cream and vanilla mixed with a chocolate syrup. Very creamy and delicious. Also, there are complimentary pickles with different flavors on the side for you to try!

Shake of the month — salted caramel was a big disappointment. It was 99% salt and 1% caramel.(and im only saying 1% because the word caramel is in the name) It should be renamed salted salt. Tasted like the maker accidently dumped half a case of Morton salt and decided to go with it. the burger and fries were delicious.

I decided to stop by here because of the great reviews I read and I couldn’t think of anywhere else so why not give it a try? So, we walked into this garage/car theme restaurant, there was no one greeting us because we just walked to the counter to place order for the food. I actually forgot what burgers my boyfriend and I ordered since it was a while ago. But anyways, we looked at the receipt after we sat down, we realized that they charged everything in the burger separately except the buns and patties. Oh, and the ranch they asked if we wanted, they were 75 cents EACH in the little cup, I wouldn’t mind if they informed us first but they didn’t so we were a bit bummed. The total came out to be $ 30 with 2 burgers and 2 orders of fries! The food was not extremely good, they were just decent, the portion was not extra big either and I have tried some other places that are better!

I like the environment. Last time I went there they were rude and wouldn’t give me what I ordered. That sounds bad… I’m sure, but here is the story. The first time I went in there, which was like 2 years ago, I ordered a hamburger with a peach on it. I ordered it again and there was not a peach on it and I confronted them about it and they did not give me a peach. They said«this burger never had a peach on it.»(Rude…) what happened to the customer is always right?! Just give me the peach. Haha but seriously.(Rant Over.) I love the atmosphere. I like the uniqueness of how they call out the orders. I probably won’t come back to this location, but will probably have to try something new next time.

The reviews were great, so we figured this would be a great new place to try. Here’s what you need to know: do not waste your time or money. You can pay the same or less and getter a better burger from Chapps or Kincaid’s. My burger, ordered with swiss, bacon, fried egg, and Hatch green chiles was as disappointing as they come. It wasn’t hot. The cold bun, barely showing signs of any toasting, disintegrated before I was halfway through. The egg was fried to a crisp, yolk broken, and dried out. And… there appeared to be less than a tablespoon of green chiles on my burger. The meat was not seasoned, but it was greasy. The menu is completely uninspired. Burgers & three salads are all you will find. Yes, they have small, expensive shakes. The bacon & cheese fries were okay, but a bit greasy. The sweet potato chips(btw…the cashier corrected us when we «mistakenly» asked for sweet potato fries, are served cold. They would be good if they were warm. The place is trying to be kitschy. It doesn’t work. I don’t want to sit on metal folding chairs. I don’t really need to know that the founders met in culinary school… which is where they should have learned to invest in quality buns for their lukewarm meat. I don’t need my order called to me by a celebrity name. I am personally offended by having to squeeze my mayo from a packet. I will give them credit for trying to be unique with this over-engineered pickle thing. I could not care less. I don’t «DO» pickles. Also, they claim to have hot dogs, but I did not see them anywhere on the menu. Did I miss it? My take… there are a plethora of burger places in DFW who are worth $ 10/burger. This is not one of them. Finally, an employee came by to clear our table & asked how everything was. «Lousy,» I answered. She said she hoped we’d come back. I told her it was not likely, and her only response was, «Okay.» It concerns me that she would not have even asked what was wrong. She picked up my paper box, and should have been able to tell by the weight alone that half a burger was still in there.

I probably wouldn’t have stopped here if it wasn’t for all the awesome reviews I’ve read. It’s really not in my favorite part of Arlington. But anyways, I’m glad we did! Everybody was very nice and happy to help with any confusion. Both of our burgers were very good, and the fries were sooooo good. They have a peppercorn ranch that is amazing, I would buy that by the gallon if they sold it. We’ll definitely be back, probably not to this exact location though.

If you are ever in the area around UTA, this would totally be a place I’d recommend on going to. The place itself is already gives off a good impression. Workers are really cool, and are so friendly! That builds so much character btw! The burgers are a little expensive then what you would usually order from a restaurant but it’s worth it! All burgers are cooked medium-well, but you are free to change it, any way you’d like, but I totally recommend just leaving it the way it is because you get so much juice within a burger; its heaven. The restrooms are a little vague, it’s quite too dark to see but not took dark to not be able to do your business. They have quite a giant humor with Chuck Norris. you’ll understand if you go into their restrooms. All in total it’s always such a great experience to be eating there, I’m always coming home happy eating there.

Good burger and not much else. If you’re looking for chicken or alternatives outside of Beef, Turkey or Veggie Patty this is not your place. Fried sides and 3 salad options. Great shakes and beer options. Overall the burger is good, not great. My burger was a little dry for my liking. Our onion strings were a little wet.

My first time here so I wasn’t used to dining in downtown Arlington and having to search for a parking spot. There are little pockets in downtown that is being revitalized and this Twisted Root happens to be in the area. Being near UT Arlington it definitely has that college aura. The place has a hip, grunge style to it. Truck Tailgates hang on the back wall while simple seats and picnic style benches make up the seating area. The cool thing about this place is the pickle bar. There’s different varieties of pickles to try. Snack on it or use it to top your burger. I decided to make my own burger. I added bacon and pickled red onions for an up charge. I like custom burgers but I judge a good burger by the meat and bun. Toppings are just bonuses. I don’t think they they make their own buns here but it doesn’t take away from how well the burgers are made. It came out hot and juicy. The meat was fresh and well seasoned. I will come back again when in the area and in mood for another burger.

GREAT Experience. Coming in late on a Thursday night(around 8:30) we timed it perfectly. Walked right up to the counter, got our order placed and found a place to eat in a partially full restaurant. It was clean, well lit, and the people were friendly. Almost as soon as our order was ready, the place was slammed! Lots of people coming in after the graduation ceremonies from the nursing school … and multiple large parties! All handled easily and with grace. The industrial style service counter and dining room are very similar to other chains, like the grease monkey, but still comfortable and fun. The atmosphere was buoyantly casual, and noisy but not overwhelmingly so. The food was off the chart good! I had a chilli cheese dog, with crispy onion rings, my friends had burgers and fries. All of the different varieties were excellent! The chili had just enough bite and the onion rings were delicately crisped and perfectly fried. The hot dog was huge, but the perfect portion for a full meal. Both burgers were grilled to perfection and piled high with various options(bacon, cheese, tomato, etc.) and the fries were perfectly crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside! On a practical side … the handicap parking was excellent. Very well designed, and the ramps into the restaurant were well done. Inside … mostly accessible. From the wheelchair, I could not get pickles from the self service pickle bar, and the restrooms were not wheelchair accessible. If they have an accessible restroom, it was not clearly identified. For me, the minor barriers that could be easily modified(such as the condiment bar) were not that bad, but the lack of accessible facilities is a major flaw.

I always think of Twisted Root as like a mini Hopdoddy’s. Hopdoddy’s wins, but it’s sooooo far from me, so this is close to home and just as yummy. It’s right near the UTA campus too! Win. Their Nutella shake is good, but I’ve only ordered it once, same with the strawberry shake because I don’t think it’s worth the price. I’ll pay for the Nutella one at Hopdoddy’s, though. Twisted Root shakes are creamy though. I just wish the cup was bigger. Their burgers are great! It’s a pricier burger place because they’re sort of gourmet burgers in a way, so I understand the pricing for the ingredients that go into it. Make sure you double check what’s in the burger because I got the Big Tex and I suck at eating spicy food, so the chipotle sauce that they put in this burger almost set me on fire to my death. If you can take spicy though, then you won’t feel a thing. It’ll taste like a regular burger and you’re going to laugh at me. I wish I traded burgers with my friend because I was dying and I drank 3+ cups of water. Portions are large and you’ll feel so full. I don’t eat pickles, but the pickle bar is popular so check it out, guise. There’s a ton of graffiti on their wooden tables. I like it. One day I’ll bring a Sharpie and contribute my own mark to it. The way that ordering works is pretty interesting. After telling the cashier what you want and paying for it, they give you a little ticket with a celebrity or character name on it and you’ll get called by that name on the PA. It’s cool. I enjoy it. I’ve worn a red cape during winter once and they gave me Little Red Riding Hood :)

You have to eat here! The Arlington location is the best. The set-up is pretty funky and ideal. It’s a lot of food, so go hungry. Try the s’mores milkshake. It’s topped with toasted marshmallows and is truly amazing. The lemonade is worth a try, too. They trick it up a little bit. The last time I had it, it tasted like lemonade and sweet tarts. Made me feel like a lil kid. My advice to you: if you’re over 40(like me) the burger and fries are ok, but if you add the milkshake, make plans to go home right after. You’ll be glad you did.

Perfect place for an amazing root beer float, sweet potato chips, and delicious burgers. Fun place. You walk in, order, they hand you a celebrity name, and you grab a table and wait. Food didn’t take long. Even though I’m the preg one, my friend gladly took advantage of their pickle bar. Yes, pickle bar. Our food was delicious. Whoever thought to put fried, green tomatoes on a burger is a genius. I will definitely return.

We developed quite a taste for Twisted Root while living in Dallas area. Now that we live in Houston, where there is a void of Twisted Root, we try to stop in for a burger any time we are in the area. What a disappointment! The Southern Comfort burger had no taste except for the BBQ sauce. Another one of our burgers was raw on the inside. The Root Beer and pickles were delicious, as only TR can make them, but the rest was really unsatisfactory.

I love me some burgers! I’ve been here a few times and I have never left this place hungry. I’m usually feeling a bit comatose after leaving here but it’s obviously my fault because I ALWAYS get my favorite burger which is the Big Tex. Big Tex combines my three loves. guac, onion strings and cheddar. The chipotle sauce ties it all together. Now if you’re wanting to be extra decadent– ADDBACON. It’s super yum. I’ve gotten the burger with buffalo and beef and honestly — either is fine. I think buffalo is a bit leaner so you can feel better about yourself but you’ll also feel a little poorer(upcharge for extra meat) so it’s truly your call which route you want to go meat-wise. If you’re a fan of pickles, check out their pickle barrel. I like grabbing a bunch eating them like candy. The shakes are legit and they have seasonal flavors so I suggest you going often to taste them all: P

On Oct. 25, 2015 we dinned at Twisted Root Burger on Abrams in Arlington, I took a few bites of my burger, before I realized the meat was barely cooked, I took my burger to the manager, she stated that all their burgers are cooked medium well, my reply was my burger was rare, and this could make people sick, she offered to cook me another burger, but I didn’t want another burger. She apologized, I walked away, and I was not happy with the way she handled it, so I went back and requested to have half my money refunded, which she did.

My burger was fine, the fried pickles on the other hand were inedible. Sooooooooooooooooooooooo SALTY!!! It’s too bad because they had so much potential. Could only eat a few. Just gross. So stay away from those and you should have a decent experience. Edit: someone came by and asked how our experience was and I told him about the too salty fries pickles and he cancelled them out and we got our money back! Bumping it up to 2 stars.

I’m a sucker for a good burger and Twisted Root makes a pretty darn good one. The one I opted for on this particular evening was the freshman fifteen-which comes topped with cheddar cheese, fries, and a fried egg. Normally this egg is fried hard but I opted to get mine a little runny. Quite frankly, I think its the way to go. The richness of the runny yolk does a great job of coating the rest of the burger. Also featured that night was a maple bacon shake. That thing was pretty ridiculous. Great combination of sweet and savory with a generous amount of bacon(that still suprisingly remained crisp) folded through out; but man that thing is heavy. Be prepared to either share or go home hurting.

So I have been her Trice so far. Each trip has not been disapointing. Chilli Cheese Burger, Verde Burger & Cheese Burger. Of those 3 the best to me was the chilli cheese one. Excellent patty size with right amount of chilli & guacamole. Enough to be messy, but not Hella messy. Sweet Potato chips are hella good, crispy with a little brown sugar sprinkling. Dipped in there AMAZING Ancho — Chipotle Ketchup. Shit anything dipped in that ketchup is where it’s at! Also have tried 2 shakes. Coconut Cream Pie & Toasted Marshmallow Smores. Deffinetly recommend the Smores. Don’t be alarmed by the burnt mellows, it works with the overall flavor.

In town on business and visited twisted root on a co-workers recommendation. Atmosphere: The atmosphere is pretty cool really. Laid back beach shack look on the inside with a mix of Texas flare(ie: old truck tailgates on the walls). The employees seem happy and to enjoy what they are doing. After you order you are given a card with a random name on it. This is the name they will call when your food is ready. In my group we had Tony Montana, Good Luck Chuck, and Bob the Builder. Service: The service is friendly and we were made to feel welcomed. There was a decent crowd in the restaurant 40 – 45 people. The food did take a little too long to get out but it was definitely worth the wait. Food: I had the Big Tex Burger, Cheddar Fries, and a banana pudding and vanilla wafer custard shake. The burger was meaty and flavorful cooked to about medium well. Topped with guacamole, crispy onion straws and BBQ sauce it was a real treat to the taste buds. The fries had a really good seasoning on them and the cheese was gooey and melty. Of course the custard shake stole the show. I would recommend this place just for the shake but I wouldn’t want you to miss out on the delicious burgers. So give it a try I think you’ll be satisfied.

Decent sized burgers with a variety of combinations. Twisted Root sells milkshakes, cheddar fries, and hot dogs too. The patty meat is half a pound so it fills you up. Compared to Five Guys, the burger isn’t as juicy but it’s still full of flavor. It’s a self serve place so you get your order when they call out the name on your ticket. All burgers come with a piece of lettuce and and an onion. Other condiments are on the table. This isn’t a fancy place or anything it looks like a backyard set up. Pretty quiet and laid back.
