Stopped in for lunch today after giving this place a little while to get going. Started off with some chips and queso which were enjoyable. Ended up adding a swirl of sriracha to the queso to give it a bit more of a kick which really made it pop. They should serve it like that IMO. Decided on the Bruce Lee and El Ranchero for lunch. The Bruce Lee was OK but not something I would order again. The El Ranchero though was awesome. I can’t even begin to describe how much egg was stuffed in that tortilla. Nice people and a fun atmosphere make it a place I will add to the lunch rotation. Hopefully it makes it since I was in there at 1ish and it was pretty empty. I would probably give this place a 3.5 if there were half stars, but I do want to return and try some of the other tacos.

There’s a Freebirds on Abram where Arlington is trying to redevelop. It’s hard to get service and the line is impossibly slow despite how empty it is. The other Freebird stores don’t seem to have this problem. We call it the«too high to function» Freebirds. They just giggle and sit on the counter a lot. Not shockingly, it’s gone. The locations has changed focus from burritos to tacos. Which I like. The décor has been simplified down a little, changed up, and I barely remember what used to fill the space. Also, I like the pepper wearing a hat. This stuff is cheap. That’s the first thing I want to point out. I felt pretty terrible about myself after everything the two of us ate and I’m pretty sure we got out for under twenty bucks. The expensive tacos were still only $ 3 – 5. Now, don’t take my cheap comment as bad. It’s not. The food was good. Some was better than good. A few were very good. We’re not talking world-class meals or anything to change your life, but it’s all well done stuff. My penchant for breakfast at all hours helps since those tacos were even more affordable and had even more cheese. There’s a desert sopapilla that was excellent. I might almost say magical, but won’t. One step shy? There’s a small, but decent, selection of beers and they’re reasonably priced. Service is friendly and helpful, albeit a new business is gonna have some hiccups. Nothing went majorly wrong, though, and I was very happy with everything. Couple this with the great little patio that sits between Mijo’s, Hooligan’s, and Twisted Root and you’ve got an awesome place to sit, eat, and drink.

I thought the place was pretty good. Mijo’s moved in where the Freebirds World Burrito place used to be, next to Twisted Root burger. I ordered the Maverick brisket taco, some chips and salsa, and got a horchata to drink. Big serving of chips and a bowl of salsa for $ 3. Salsa was good, not very hot, but a good flavor. Only thing, once I dug into the brisket taco, it overpowered the salsa. But I had no problem with this, because the brisket taco was one of the best I’ve had anywhere. Great flavor, huge helping of brisket. Great… meat/roast flavor, heavy, but really good. Loaded with cheese, and I wasn’t sure about the pickles added, but it really gave some good flavor to it. It was well worth the $ 4. Horchata was good. Not super sweet, just about right. You ladle it out of a jar at the counter, and was told it cost the same as soda. There is also a jar of hibiscus tea at the counter as well. I thought it was well worth the price. I’ll be going back to try out some of the other taco’s.

My roommate and I were very excited initially to go to this taco place! I was craving some really good queso and heard about this place from Unilocal.Unfortunately, our experience was NOT a good one. To start off, the service wasn’t particularly good. The food runner was not able to identify was what what and would have left the table number if it weren’t for us reminding her. The employee who took our order(buzz cut, hairstyle) was not welcoming and did not smile. These are minor compared to the food issues… The outdoor seating was nice, but the tables were very dirty and we found ourselves cleaning them off. Our queso and chips came out pretty quickly. The queso was honestly really terrible. It was like someone played the whole«unscrew the top off the salt shaker» trick. It was chunky, not creamy or smooth. It tasted like it was thickened by flour and it ended up chunking up. The chips were slightly stale, but were at least fresh fried; they had yet even more salt! We knew that we weren’t the only ones who thought the queso was super salty. Afterwards when we went to throw the trash out, there were 3 other unfinished bowls of queso by the trash. Now for the tacos… Lord where do I start? We both ordered the Maverick, the Aztec and the Ranchero. The size was decent but again the quality was anything but top notch. Apparently the Aztec was ok but the eggs were a bit dry and overcooked. I appreciated the omelet — style of the egg as opposed to scrambled but it was supposed to have brisket… I found 3 quarter-sized chunks of meat… that’s it. They were garnished with what looked like Kraft«Mexican» Style cheddar cheese, which to me was a no-no; some queso fresco would have been a lot better. Lastly, the Maverick was equally disappointing. It continued with the over-salted theme but at least there was visible meat. The pickles did not go with the taco; the meat tasted like it was flavored with a packet of «Old El Paso» taco seasoning and store-bought BBQ sauce. The meat was at least nicely shredded, but other than that we forced ourselves to finish our $ 21 meal. The salsa was also kind of a joke… it was called«Diablo Fire» or something and it was NOT in the LEAST bit spicy. The green salsa was also equally not spicy; it just tasted like mashed tomatillos. The icing on the cake was when as we were heading out and I noticed that there were other full queso bowls near the trash. I decided to try to be helpful and let the buzz — cut cashier guy know that it was very salty.(I wanted to qualify this with the fact that I am NOT a confrontational person at all and I deal with customer service regularly, so I ensure you that I was not rude.) I let him know that our queso was very salty… all he said was, «ok.» Not, «ok, thank you for letting me know,» or, «ok, I’ll let our cook know,» NADA. So that concludes my experience… I am currently on my couch washing my mouth out with a Starbucks caramel frap.

Another over priced taco restaurant. I’ll keep at the whole in the walls where I still can get a great taco for a $ 1. Adding cabbage to tacos doesn’t justify the special $ 3 a taco. To of the extras take aways from the taste of the meat.

Visited for the first time today and loved it! Tacos were great. Husband and I tried three different kinds — shrimp taco, fish taco and carnitas taco. Really enjoyed them all. Atmosphere was nice. Queso was rich and very cheesy. Even better with some of the green sauce added in! Good chips. Overall a good experience! Will be back

Taco was great but ordered the queso and it never came. Employee then offered free tacos which also never came. Saw other patrons receiving queso so I don’t know what happened. Made me angry and will think about it next time I want to stop in.

Was there last week for breakfast and the tacos were delicious! Met the manager and he was as friendly as could be. and they have a great selection of tacos. Great place to go before a Cowboys or Rangers game since they play nearby.

Stopped into Mijos during a break from school at Uta for lunch. The brisket taco I got was amazing the cheese was nice and melted there was a huge amount of meat in the taco and was simple and perfect exactly the way I like a taco. The carnitas taco I got was good but not on the same level as the brisket. The carnitas were good but It had a pineapple slaw which I wish had more pineapple and a lil less red cabbage. The green salsa they had was also really good but the tacos didn’t really need it. The tacos are very large but still feel a little overpriced especially on a college budget. I’ll definitely be back to try more food. I think there brisket would be really good on nachos but not sure if they offer that or not.

Stopped by Mijo’s for lunch today and loved it! This location has counter service with a menu comparable to Torchy’s or Rusty Taco. Everything was fresh, veggies were crisp, tortillas tasted homemade. I got The West Coast(fried avocado, black beans, pico, and cheese) and The Razorback(pork carnitas with green chilies and pineapple slaw). The tortillas were warm and soft, and completely overstuffed with goodness. They were really tasty. The only thing I wished for was some kind of sauce to complement the flavors. They did have red and green sauce at the self serve drink/utensil station but I would have loved some chipotle crema! The staff was super friendly with the manager checking in with us during our meal. The food came out quick after ordering. The store was very clean and had a nice ambiance with natural light, optional outdoor seating, and cute tables. They serve breakfast all day and have a nice sized breakfast taco menu. This place is walking distance from my office and I have a feeling I’m going to be here quite a bit!
