Consistently interesting cocktails credited to various bars around the US, available at DC prices. Parking in the area can be competitive, but it’s worth coming for one of the better renditions of a Blood and Sand here. They’re equally happy serving vague requests as off-menu. Service was occasionally spotty regardless of patron volume, but they take their mixology seriously and only a few times have one of the beverages in rotation been executed too sweet or tart for my taste. I enjoyed being able to order from the Eamonn’s food menu even while seated at the bar, which offers hearty British pub eats to stay vertical(just the right amount for conservative-to-moderate appetites).

WOW do they know how to make a drink here! I had the best drink I think I’ve ever had here. It was an interesting riff on an old fashioned with some house made PBR(strange I know) and stuff that I can’t remember. WOW it was incredible. My girlfriend’s drink was also out of this world. Nothing was too sweet and you could tell the bartenders were all about making drinks with balance. They also were extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Came here on a night before a comedy show at the Drafthouse and I will be returning! The cocktails are standard priced($ 9-$ 12), but you really get your moneys worth. The space is a little funky and seems like it would be a great place for a small group to socialize, play games/cards, sip on coffee, or pregame for a night out on the town. Also, they were playing the BEST music. I remember hearing some Radiohead, Wilco, and My Morning Jacket(does it get better?). I just wish the bar was near a metro, but regardless, I will be coming back to try every drink on the menu.

This is my second review. Now that I’ve made a few more stop ins: A bar built around an inspired selection of spirits and mixers. You pay a premium but the staff and their alcoholic armory will deliver. It looks sorta silly from outside but it all makes sense once you sit down and talk cocktails. Julian and Todd know the local food scene. Before their recommendations I had given up on food culture in DC. Now I’ve got a deck stacked with amazing places to try! Get one of their spicy Jalapeño drinks.

I love TNT Bar, I can’t believe I haven’t written a review yet! We came on their ‘soft opening’ night, and just keep coming back. The cocktails are fantastic, and ever changing so you never get bored or have to think for yourself on how to change up what you’ve been drinking. Their staff is fantastic and keep us fat and happy! The space is wonderful, not too small, not to big, fun décor and atmosphere. They have games you can play(trivial pursuit anyone? Risk?) should you find yourself out with some friends, in the gaming mood. They are attached/share space with Society Fair — so good eats– Check! And there is lots of parking onsite! I even had a ‘special event’ here where I worked with their coordinator to bring in food from Society Fair and brought in about 40 of my friends for a celebration. They were wonderful and a year later, everyone is still talking about that party and how great it was — Thanks TNT! I highly recommend TNT — try the daily punch specials!

I live in walking distance from this place and my roommates were finally able to drag me here late one night for a drink and I was very pleasantly surprised. We go there around 8:30p on a weeknight and it was fairly empty as we sat by the bar. We each got something different but I tried a bit of everyone’s drink. Myself, I got The Sweetest Thing which was very good; similar to a Moscow Mule with notes of ginger and mint but not heavy on the citrus. Roomies got a bourbon drink which was strong and their house made punch which was VERY dangerous as I could not taste the alcohol at ALL but delicious! Seems their happy hour is solid; you can get their punch until 7:45pm for $ 4. The space is pretty cool. We sat by the bar and since we were the only ones there we spoke a bit to the bartender as he was making fresh almond milk for one of their signature drinks. I will definitely come back — and will be walking next time so I can drink more! Parking in the garage is free for 1 hour, otherwise, street parking is available.

TNT has definitely grown on me over the last year and a half since I have been living on the Pike. The have a small space with big taste in their drinks. It is one of the finer establishments on our street that has serves a quality drink. Yeah, WJT is good, but TNT serves up more of a sexy drink than a bar drink. Does that make sense? Their nightly punch is sometimes amazing and other times not so much. Last night’s was a hit. It composed of hibiscus, ginger tea, and vodka with a couple other ingredients. During happy hour which is from 5:00 — 7:44pm(you read that correctly, 7:44pm) it is $ 4 and their cheapest drink. After that it is $ 7. Most drinks run from $ 8 on up. They are really good at creating concoctions. Simply tell them what your taste is, and they’ll create your masterpiece from there. If they do not get it right, they fix it or redo it completely free of charge. Julian and Russell are the best at their craft. You should see what I mean. Come check it out and enjoy your visit.

I love the atmosphere of the TNT Bar, this little bar tucked away on the back half of Eammon’s — Dublin Chipper is decked out in red, black and gun metal and overflowing with a bad ass rock n roll vibe. I assume they share a kitchen with Eammons however I am honestly not really sure where one starts and another begins. They had a long list of really cool drinks with names I can’t really remember… stuff like«Metal Surrenders When Oak Trees Meet Fenders» really… Who names a drink this? They did! I happen to be there on trivia night. I didn’t stay to play but the crowd seemed pretty enthusiastic about it. It’s always nice to see a group of people have this kind of energy on a Wednesday night. I can’t wait to go back… I’ll be in a skull shirt and chains next time! RAWK!

As soon I walked into this bar tucked away in the depths of Arlington, I was totally diggin’ the red décor which created a «rock’n roll» vibe. And the mixologists sure know how to rock out those crafty cocktails. «Thymes Like These» is incredibly refreshing and one of the best drinks I’ve ever had; on its own, gin ain’t my thing but properly concocted drinks with gin are divine. I love me some ginger and mint so «The Sweetest Thing» was calling my name. The cocktails rotate frequently so there’s always a new concoction to try. Definitely snag a seat at the bar and watch the über-talented mixologists hard at work. TNT Bar is part of Eamonn’s, a fish-and-chips shop and both are run by the same owner of Restaurant Eve. Totally plan to return to try the fish-and-chips and wash it all down with one of their signature cocktails. P. S. they serve up fried chicken on Mondays and do weekly trivia on Wednesdays at 7pm.

LOVE this place. A sister bar to my favorite speakeasy, PX. The tobacco smoke cocktail is a work of art. No. Really. You will be blown away by the artistry of the cocktails. Don’t be fooled by the location. It is in the back of a fish and chip shop. The décor? Rock and roll. Think red, black, tattoos, and Joan Jett. Great HH and tasty food.

TNT Bar is an awesome mixologist bar with creative and interesting cocktails. Of course being owned by Todd Thrasher, General Manager/Sommelier/Liquid Savant of Restaurant Eve and partner of PX, The Majestic, and Society Fair, how can it not be good? Unlike the fine dining of Restaurant Eve and the quaint speakeasy PX, TNT Bar is a rock-n-roll bar that’s decorated in a very rocker/biker style, the colors red and black most predominant, with rock music blaring throughout the bar. As a fan of egg white cocktails, I love their«I’ll Make You Banana Pancakes.» Egg white cocktails are difficult to perfect; however, I think if done well, egg whites provide a creamy texture that works very well in certain drinks, «I’ll Make You Banana Pancakes» being one of these drinks. It’s made with Crown Royal Canadian whiskey, lemon juice, bananas pecan syrup, and of course, egg white. The flavor and balance is perfect. Another favorite and highly recommended cocktail is «Thymes Like These,» made with Citadelle gin, Cocchi Americano, thyme lime mixture, and housemade Kaffir bitters. Excellent cocktails, rock-n-roll soundtrack, and fish-and-chips snacks(TNT is located in the back of a counter service Eammon’s, the fish-and-chips joint), the effect of TNT is a fun and unique bar unlike anything else in DC. Only downside may be that it’s not located on any Metro line, so you have to either drive, carpool, cab, or bus over to this place. However, it’s worth the experience.

I’ve been here twice and tried several cocktails. None of them were outstanding in my opinion. I loved a drink I had at PX once so I’m surprised that I would be so disappointed. I had to choke down one cocktail. Another was o-kay. The décor leaves a lot to be desired but not my big issue. I also tried some of their food but it was meh so I forgot how I felt about it. Bottom line is, if Founding Farmers is making significantly better cocktails than a bar solely dedicated to craft cocktails, I cannot tolerate this level of mediocrity. You may as well just go to William Jeffery’s for drinks and enjoy the nicer ambiance and more comfortable bar seating.

I don’t drop a place owned by Todd Thrasher very often, so this had to be a unique situation. We took my fiancé’s dad on Friday night — and we had really talked up this place after our first experience there a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, we were let down by the drinks and the service this time around. First round was during Happy Hour — I got the Rum Punch — Fiancé’s dad ordered a Manhattan which was majority cherry juice that turned the cocktail a dark red color. Couldn’t taste the bourbon at all — in a Manhattan(2.1.2). As it was made, the bar tender(not Todd) tossed a few too many drips of Cherry Juice in there(from what I can tell). Fiancé was looking for a gin based cocktail with floral tones and struck out on all 3 that they made her. She ended up having most of my second drink which was pretty good. Sad to see Todd not there — but we expected the other bar tenders to take what we described and make a good cocktail. That didn’t happen this time around. According to my future Father-In-Law, the best thing that he had all night was the Makers on the rocks. Fiancé tried to make a point that she likes cocktails when you can taste the liquor that was put in them, but she got 3 that didn’t have that. Food was good though. We are going to give it another shot but I hope our next experience will be better then this time around.

This place right cheer!!!(right here) DEFINITELY worth a visit. Go once to decide for yourself if this will be a unique one time stop or a bar you’ll visit regularly. I’m pretty sure you will be back. I’m still at Ahh!!! Best drinks I’ve ever had made, hands down! Unsure what the bartender name was, but he is truly a Professor in Mixology 101. When you get there, have a seat, open up the menu book, pick out a name that sounds cool, read what’s in it, and order. Or you can request like me the popular drinks on the Pike and he will make an amazing recommendation for you based on what you like taste wise. I’m not going to lie, the drinks are on the pricey end but it’s truly worth it. I’m happy to say I think I found a new home on the weekends.

This is a nice, laid back place to grab a drink and some greasy fried food. It’s the bar inside of Eamonn’s Irish«chipper». I really enjoyed my drink, which I think was a vanilla and bourbon concoction, but I tried three other people’s drinks, and most were too strong or sweet for my taste. You can order the restaurant’s food at the bar and take it back to your table, which is kind of a convoluted ordering system, but since it’s a smallish place with not a lot of staff, I guess it’s acceptable. As for the food, the fries were amazing if you like the big, potatoe-y soft kind of fries, which I do. I thought the curry fries were kind of gross, and the sauce tasted like a marinade for raw meat. The regular fries and dipping sauce were wonderful though. I also had a shepherd’s pie which wasn’t bad, but it was kind of bland and lame. I finished the whole thing, but I wouldn’t order it again, and I usually love shepherd’s pie. The service was really good considering how overtasked the bartender was, though because of the staff shortage, this is not the place to go if you’re in a hurry. Overall, I had a good time at Eamonn’s/TNT bar, and I would gladly go again if I were in the neighborhood, but it’s not worth going out of your way for.

A few friends and I decided to check out this location because our other Unilocaler friend and I had seen it on the Eater DC list. Let me start off by saying that TNT Bar and Eamonn’s are two separate establishments that work in conjunction with one another under one roof.(You can order food at eamonns and bring it to the bar, but cannot order drinks from TNT and sit over by Eamonns) The bar also offers a happy hour that runs from 5PM-6:44PM(I don’t understand the strange cut off time either) that features $ 4 canned beer, wine, Guinness and their punch of the day. My friend and I were very indecisive about what we wanted to order because the menu offered so many unique drinks. Since the bartender saw us struggling a bit, he told us that we could order any drink, and if we did not like it he’d take it back and make us a new one. Therefore, we ordered the Pink Shadow Cat($ 11) and I’ll make you banana pancakes drinks($ 12) from the bar. The Pink Shadow cat was a mixture of ginger liquor, cumin, pepper, and a few other interesting ingredients. If you like peppery tasting drinks, by all means order this drink, but if you’re looking for a sweet drink, stray away. My friend politely asked for another drink because the bartender had promised satisfaction, but he became very unneccesarily sarcastic and offensive. From that point on, the experience was a bit tainted for me. The banana pancakes drink however was very different and also very good. I don’t remember exactly what was in it, but it was some kind of mixture of banana syrup, crown royal, and egg white? All in all, my visit was refreshing because it was different from the norm, but I would probably not come back. The drinks were overpriced for what you get(strength and size).

Here you’ll find unique cocktails crafted with ingredients and care usually reserved for velvet roped lounges frequented by celebrities and jet-setters. This is the place to go when it’s time to move on from the Vodka and Redbulls or Cosmos that fueled the under-grad years. Here you can get a PHD in mixology with well thought-out and often daring flavor combinations like hibiscus and chile, black pepper and honey or thyme and lime. Sure any bartender can memorize some recipes but having studied under owner(2012DC Bartender of the Year) Todd Thrasher, Jose Andres and other culinary geniuses these guys go beyond, often inventing new concoctions that will blow you away. And if you’re not sure what you want they are great with suggestions; just pick a liquor and let them know your tastes and they will figure out something amazing for you. Insider’s tip: try the Gin and Tonic(with Todd’s special tonic). If you’re a gin drinker you’ll be amazed what they do with this classic and if you’re not a gin drinker, you likely will be after this one. This place is more than just great libations. Take the bar setup itself. The bar wraps around a central«workstation» which creates something of an arena to showcase the craftsmanship that goes into every drink. Each order is a show featuring exotic ingredients, precisely measured and interwoven using time honored bar skills. Insider’s tip: take the time to talk to these bartenders. They can give you the history of most of the old standard cocktails and styles, as well as some that aren’t so standard so you’ll walk out smarter than when you came in. And they don’t even charge for the lessons. More than just a bar it’s an experience.

I like the drinks at TNT Bar. For only a few dollars more than at William Jeffrey’s, you get a way better drink(both taste and strength wise). The names are too long for me to remember, but I’ve liked all that I’ve had, with my most recent one that focused on gin being my favorite. The bartenders do a great job and I love watching them work. I think the food is good, but I’m not biggest fan of fried food. However, if I’m in the mood for fish and chips, I’d definitely come here. I recommend the curry dipping sauce for the chips. I tried the fried Snickers, and did not think I was going to like it, but it’s actually quite tasty, dusted with cinnamon, and big enough to share. Also, TNT offers happy hour, with $ 5 punch and some food specials as well. The décor is cool and I love the chandelier above the work station. I’ll definitely be a regular here.

I finally got the chance to get my drink on at TNT and I did not leave disappointed. It is an absolute delight to sit at the bar and watch all of the tender loving care it takes to prepare one of Todd Thrasher’s specialty drinks. The price point is approximately $ 15 per drink, but when you know that you have an expert drink master creating a special concoction for you it makes the cost a whole lot easier to swallow… I can find myself becoming a regular here once they start up their happy hour… which happens to be today… Monday, 9⁄24!, Based on their FB page, specials include $ 4 Canned Beer, a $ 4 Punch Cocktail, and $ 4 Ken Forrester Chenin Blanc and Aresti Pinot Noir. I’ll see you there!

Todd Thrasher’s TNT Bar has been on the girlfriend and my radar ever since we heard about it back in May. We’re big fans and appreciate his creative genius behind the drinks at PX, Restaurant Eve, the Majestic, and Virtue. So, it was with eager anticipation that the gf and I made a jaunt out to his latest endeavor dispensing a spirited, liquid homage to rock and roll and the state of the cocktail nation. We arrived early(6:30pm) Saturday night. Todd Thrasher was in the house making drinks, bussing tables, doing whatever needed to be done. All of the seats at the bar were taken so we decided to wait for two seats to come open vice sitting at a table in the bar/dining room shared with Eamonn’s. Personally, I thought that the fact that the bar shares the same space with Eamonn’s was a bit of turn off and detracted from the rock and roll atmosphere TNT’s trying to convey. It also added to the noise level in the relatively small space with its concrete floors and floor to ceiling windows. I started off with the Metal Surrenders When Oak Trees Meet Fenders( ) made by its creator. It was smooth, sweet(but not oversweet), peachy, and creamy with a hint of bitterness from the Angostura and peach bitters. I know it was a boozy drink, but it was so nicely balanced that if you closed your eyes, you could almost imagine you were drinking a non-alcoholic sweet peach tea. I’m a fan. Two seats came open, so we moved to the bar to continue our exploration of the cocktail menu. My next round was The Jolly Rogers( ) courtesy of Chicago’s The Aviary. Made with Angostura 1919 rum, «Punt e Mess», Fernet Branca, lemon juice, and syrup, it was also nicely balanced, tropical, but not in a tiki drink kind of way, and very enjoyable. My final drink was the Pink Shadow Cat( ) courtesy of Atlanta’s Holeman and Finch Public House. Of the three drinks, this was the most unique tasting with its use of Monte Alban Mezcal, Domaine de Canton Ginger Cognac, and black pepper. That said, it was probably the one I enjoyed least. These last two drinks were made with skill and care by Ian, who usually plies his trade at the Majestic. Food is also available at TNT Bar provided by the Eamonn’s side of the house(duh). The food menu is pretty much the same as the Old Town Eamonn’s with a few additional items. One of which, the Hangover Chips, are oh so incredibly, unhealthily tasty with their perfectly fried potato goodness topped with curry sauce and two over easy fried eggs. Yum. They go great with cocktails. Upon final tally, the Todd Thrasher originals rock and his«covers» of cocktails from other mixologists from across the country rock just as hard! TNT Bar doesn’t supplant PX or the Columbia Room at the pinnacle of the local cocktail scene… yet. However, it really is a great addition to the local cocktail scene.

My new go to bar in Arlington. I was fortunate enough to come with a few friends to try a few of the drinks on the menu. Started out with the«Metal Surrenders When Oak Trees Meet Fenders.» What is in it are Smooth Ambler«Old Scout» bourbon, Massenez Crème de Peche, sorghum pine cone water, Angostura and house-made peach bitters. The pine cone I think gave the drink somewhat of a cinnamon taste and brought out the bourbon flavor of the drink without overpowering it. Great start. Second, I had the«Shock Me.» The ingredients were Southern Comfort, Makers Mark whiskey, maple syrup water, and Brooklyn brown lager. Probably my favorite cocktail I had for the evening. Not too sweet and the maple syrup really added character to the cocktail. Third, I had the«Pink Shadow Cat.» Included are Monte Alban Mezcal, Domaine de Canton, lemon juice, cane syrup, black pepper, and Peychaud’s bitters. Reminded me of a really good margarita. No salt needed. As far as setup and atmosphere, I really enjoyed the relaxed vibe of the bar. Great drinks and it reminds me of the great cocktail bars of NYC. Prices are the same as PX and the Gibson, but you still get the same quality you would expect from both. No reservations required either but I’m going to expect long waits for the bar in the future. I’m looking forward to coming back again.
