Vandergriff Hyundai

One star is one more than I’d like to give this dealership. Luckily, I never had to experience this place in person. I feel for anyone that has had issues at this dealership. My story is a lot like the other poor reviews, lies and more lies. I inquired online about an advertised used Equus ($ 25,900) on their site on a Thursday night. I spoke with a man the next morning (Friday) who said they’d sit it aside for me to come get on Saturday as I’m out of state. That day, they also ran my credit as I was in a rush to buy a car. Four hours later they called me back and said they’d sold it! I became immediately irritated and spoke to the man who had told me he’d sit it aside, I think his name was John. He tried apologizing but that didn’t help my situation so I hung up. Fast forward a week later to today. The same Equus is listed for sale at $ 28,900, ($ 3,000 more than the original price). I think these chumps realized a good deal and didn’t want me to have it and a good way to prevent that was to lie since it would be an easy way to keep someone from driving in from out of state to make a purchase. Despicable. If you’re reading this, stay far away from this deceitful place. I gladly purchased a Genesis R-​Spec Sedan later that evening. Glad I didn’t give them my business.

Just bought a 2014 Hyundai Elantra GT to replace my totaled car. Found it online, exactly what I had had in mind. Called to make sure it was there and Olivia met me there an hour later ready to let me test drive it with no pressure at all. Got the fair internet price with no haggling. I came with my credit union financing at 2.73% and were able to get financing for 1.99%. Best car buying experience since we bought a Saturn years ago… nice to know what you want, and not have to haggle about the price or feel any pressure from sales or the financing department. Would not recommend the service dept. Brought my car in to have a tire sensor replaced and they asked if I’d like to wait. I opted to take the shuttle to work instead (which took nearly an hour and 45 minutes, but the driver was really nice). It is now 5pm, I have left two messages and was told they would call me back. Meanwhile, they close in one hour and I’m at work with no ride and no idea what’s going on with my car. Did I mention it’s a Friday?
I have always used the Hyundai dealership in S. Dallas off of I20 and Polk. I will continue to do so in the future.

Great experience! After looking at what seemed like a million trucks that didn’t look like the online picture, we saw the exact truck my husband was searching for, we pulled up and were saddened it was over our price range– exhausted from the used car salesman mentality (their job), we were about to give up .
We were greated by Fauzi, a nice young man eager to help– maybe it was a slow day, who knows. ;-)
We were able to purchase the truck/​they met us on a price we could afford. Never seen my hubby so happy. I don’t know why I didn’t think of it sooner, I bought a car here in 2010, had a great experience also– with Ryan, who is now a manager of sorts!

Long story short, i didnt buy a car here. Test drive was fine, people were pleasant enough, but they give you no breaks at all on the price. Typically car dealerships will allow you to receive even the loosest of rewards (ive gotten the military one because family members have served). This was place just trying to take me to the cleaners. Vandergriff hyundai was showing me payment quotes of 400+ dollars a month for 5 years, totaling over 25 000 dollars, for an entry level manual elantra (my credit score is not garbage by any means). Maybe i look like a sucker, but i went to a honda dealership and got a decent price on a car.
Oh and they kept calling and emailing months after i told them i went elsewhere. Overall i wouldnt even look here.

I am really happy with how Maletta Larry handled my order. She diligently and promptly replied to my email inquiries which made the actual buying experience more transparent and less stressful. The only downside is that their office is far from where I live, but still their offer was better than the other locations. I’m hopeful that their after-​sales service would be just as efficient.

Great customer service in the service department, great staff, and good amenities in the waiting area.

Antonio Torres is a sweet and ernest young man. Every other person there that I have dealt with are lying sorry excuses for humans. Sat there for TWO HOURS and nothing. Seriously a waste of a beautiful Saturday morning. What I know is that if they want to make a deal they can no matter what. I’ll pay my car off and never buy from vandergriff again. Thanks for an intolerable experience.

I wish I could give 0 stars because of the horrible experience I had there. It was the absolute worst attempted car buying process I have ever been through. Was held like a hostage while my vehicle was being appraised while they were trying to convince me to purchase a vehicle I didn’t want! If you are looking to be treated like a human being or with even a little respect, do not waste your time here. I had to ask for my key 3 times before I was allowed to leave. Complete and utter disrespect.

Worst customer service EVER ! so annoyed having to call several time and still not get an appointment made when I was told early in the morning that I was in the system.

Let me warn u… look up for ur own financing and come in prepared. Never try to finance with them unless you wanna throw out $ for them typing in ur info, get scamed into buyin a warranty, and make ur credit score drop!!! One other thing, if u r not aware of rail rust then go look it up. This dealer carries vehicle dat r damaged from those rust. They r always hiring for sales position and those crews don’t have a clue about their vehicle’s specs. Don’t want to be harsh on them because I can see them tryin their best to sell, but in the end isn’t it critical for sales person to know wut they’re selling. Long story short, I was about to hire a lawyer because of their finance manager due to auto fraud. It’s already stressful enough for auto shoppin alone, but on top of dat they have raised dat stress level to another level after purchasing it. Those high reviews scores from others better not be b/​c of the free gas bargain. Tsk tsk tsk shame on u lol.

Tried to buy a car here twice. Same experience.
Went in this last time and told the guy straight up, «we aren’t looking to buy today. We are comparing the Ford Explorer and Hyundai Santa Fe.» He said, «cool». Found one that was what we were looking for that we could compare to the explorer. Test drove cool mission accomplished. Start to tell him thanks for his time and we will be in contact again when we make a decision but then he comes back with like $ 7000 off before we even apply loyalty discounts rebates, down payments etc etc.
We stop for a bit to consider and agree that it’s a good deal and that it would be worth pursuing. So we get down to trade ins down payments etc etc. we tell him, before pulling credit, to assume a 650 score and 7 percent interest. We say no down payment but possible two trades. He gets the payoff and goes to finance.
What happens next will literally make you shit a brick as it did me.
He comes back with that fancy little sheet with a bunch of different scenarios on it. First thing out of his mouth I kid you not was, «So this car is everything you want, right? Like this is your dream car, yeah?» I told the missus, «buckle up here comes the bullshit.»
Well he didn’t disappoint. $ 1000 a month at 14.99 percent for 48 months. And the lowest was $ 725 with $ 4k down for 72 months… Oh and the price on the sheet was just shy of $ 33k, lacked loyalty, rebates, or other discounts.
Hahahhahahhahahhahahahhahahahahhahaghahahhahahahha­hahah
Get real dude. Seriously? First you lie to me about the price by almost $ 4k just to hook me after I straight told you we aren’t looking to buy today because we are still shopping. Then you put an stupid high rate on us for a 650, I mean I know it’s not a greater 700 but it’s still good for a 9 percent at least if your lenders are worth a damn. (Which by the way I know ours was way better than that even). Then you find some way to jack the price all the way back up to almost $ 40k…
Even with the upside down car payment it should have only been $ 35k tops.
I told you straight up I used to work sales. I have loyalty when it comes to associates I talk to who help me when I decide to buy. I go back to that same person that helped me even months earlier because I know what it feels like but then you go and pull some stupid hook then reel in bull crap and lie to me? Nah. No thanks. Ill pass.
You want to know the cherry on top? I went to shake his hand and the bastard just left me hanging and kept trying to sell me. Forget the sales training boot camp next time and learn common decency first.
If you are in the market for a Hyundai though and can stomach the drive Eckert Hyundai in Denton was phenomenal. If we decide to purchase another Hyundai we will do it from there.
For the record though the service department here is great from our experience.

Trying to buy a car from here was the worst experience. To make a long story short they lied to us. We came in to buy a used car and we let them know immediately that we do not have any money for a down payment. Well after test driving a car and loving it we got down to the money business. That’s where it all went downhill. We spent HOURS there, even after closing, and had my two young sons with us. We finally had to leave because the banks were closed. They said they would contact the bank Monday and call us to see if we would get approved for a lower interest rate. When they called us back they told us they had gotten it and expected $ 2000 down payment. When we had told them multiple times we couldn’t afford one! Also, we had a trade in they valued at $ 2000 and that’s what we were told would serve as a down payment. About a year ago my husband and I bought a car there and PAID IN FULL, now they treat loyal customers this way? They lied and tried to screw us. I almost got a car I loved, but now will just be submitting a BBB complaint and looking elsewhere.

I researched not only the car I bought but the dealership and pricing as well. Vandergriff gave me the best price anywhere on a new 2015 Elantra. The staff was friendly helpful, answered all my questions and treated me honestly and fairly. I would definitely give them my business again and recommend them to my friends.

Did I say Awesome, you could teach some dealerships how to do business. (ie; richardson dodge) Thnak we are enjoying our Sonata, better than any Dodge product. Quick and simple treatment of numbers and great service

I was pre-​approved with Road Loans and told that I had to put a set amount down and was approved for over 21,000. When I walked in to Vandergriff they started to tell me how mistaken i was, that my loan actually wasnt an approved loan, and not worth the paper it was written on. Of course they ran my credit through their lenders to get a bite. When that didnt pan out, they told me to go to a «tote the note» type of place. I tried another dealership, and guess what. My approval was in fact valid, it was worth the paper it was written on, and I purchased a wonderful 2014 new car for 21,000 with only 900.00 down. Thanks Vandergriff, you lost the sale and commission, but I still got a great car.

I really should write two reviews on Vandergriff. We had a fantastic shopping experience, we had a pretty bad service experience.
The five stars is for shopping used cars with Bill Gilmore. He is a great guy and good at his job. We showed up to look at a car we found online. When it didn’t work, we noticed another car on the lot we were interested in. Right away he told us not to go off the sticker price but that he would get us the internet price because we contacted him online. It was $ 4000 cheaper! He could have easily told us sticker price and made us try to haggle him down but he didn’t go that route.
The pricing on both cars we looked at was really good, better than Carmax. I was certain they would lowball us on our tradein. They did not. They offered us exactly what Carmax did! I had completely sworn off dealerships after my last experience. I thought I would only go to Carmax after that. I will definitely visit Bill in the future and reccomend him to friends. It’s refreshing to go to a dealership where they don’t play games with you! Good cars at good prices.
Ask for Bill, and conact him online to get lower pricing!

We own a older hyundi we love can’t complain never broke down on us an were thinking seriously on getting another santa fe, it was between that an a few other dodge ect. my complaint is not on hyundi its on thr dealership in arlington tx ! the sales guy a young guy named fernando disregared everything we said we asked to test drive a base modle then we would go up from there he took litterly a hr to bring forth the car to test drive then it was the top of the line nice car then perceded to try to get us in that car quoted us a redicoulous quote we told him do not run our cedit we didnt athrourize they did makeing a longer storer shorted worst experance ever was there almost 4hrs for nothing. We ended up with a beautiful dodge derango 2014 an way cheaper. hum.

I will not get into the details because it would take forever. Basically I wasted half a day at their service department with nothing to show for. My wife and I both drive Hyundai vehicles and we will never go back to this place. They were rude and tried to take advantage of me. The issue with my car was not resolved and I only left with a bad story to tell. I emailed the service department manager about my experience and below is the «apology» I received from them.
«I apologize for any inconvenience we may have caused you. Typically there isn’t a charge if the remote can not be programmed, if it can, then there is a fee to program. Once again if we came across wrong I apologize. I will use this as a training tool to make sure that we strive to continue to provide the best service we can. We fell short in this case and will continue to learn from our mistakes to improve any where we can. Thank you for your detailed note and taking the time to let me know how the service was that you received.»
