This place’s terrible quality may ruin wings for you. Everything tastes frozen, delivery food arrives soggy and packed in styrofoam, and you can’t even get two different sauces on the wings. They’ll offer to put the sauces on the side and then you just get unsauced wings with a lot of sloppy work ahead of you. Eat at Jumbos as better quality wings. Don’t eat wings here, it will ruin the experience for you. Whatta joke!

Whatta Wing or The Wing Place… same address… hmmmm Anyway, I’ve driven by them several times and today I stopped in for lunch. I was craving buffalo tenders. I would think this would be a specialty and the sauce reflected that. I usually go with hot sauces but first shot, I went with medium. Enough kick but not too much. I’m curious about their hot. However, I won’t be going back. Why? The chicken was old and loaded with fat. Also, by how it came apart, they buy frozen chicken vs. fresh. There’s a HUGE difference in texture and favor between fresh and frozen chicken. It was like complete rubber. Interior was clean and service was good. A bit pricey for what I got…6 piece plate with fries and a coke $ 15??? The quality of the chicken is so not worth it. I’m giving them two stars only because the sauce was good. The quality of the chicken was horrible.

Just Don’t. Eat. Here. Yeah, you want to, you are thinking, aww man, wings. Hot wings, succulent juicy, spicy, with blue cheese and a side of fries. I’m in the mood. Nope. Here you will get frozen, breaded, dry as chalk grease ball chicken for $ 20. French fries that are inedible. When a place screws up FRENCHFRIES, you know it’s bad. Overpriced, inedible food, terrible service(I had to ask for forks, plates!) and paid $ 23.00 for wings and a side of fries. We threw the whole meal out and had to make dinner at home.

Whattawing has great wings for a reasonable price. They have a large selection of flavors and good deals for buying in bulk. Their wings use real meat unlike many other wing places.

I really liked this place a lot. We use to get wings for every football game there. First game of this season I got our usual, a huge order of sesame and a huge order of hot buffalo wings. They seemed find and we ate’m thoughout the game. The next day we were all sick with stomach issues. We were so dissappponted because they really did have the best wings and we loved it there, but we haven’t been back since that episode. No one wanted to go through that again. Come to find out just today that they changed owners in the fall. Now it all makes sense. Dont know if we will ever go back because, Dude, that was a lousy first impression you made on us. We were loyal great customers, but with one terrible order you lost us all.

Great wings. Plenty of delicious sauce choices and they are moist and fresh. The tenders have been hit and miss. The burgers are decent. All in all, Great for wings and alright for the rest of the menu.

I truly wish I could give this establishment a better review… And I really wish i could give them 2.5 stars but I’ll round up only because of these two simple facts: 1. I freaking love the name! When they moved into the neighborhood I was extremely disappointed because they took over the space of my favorite sandwich shop but I quickly got over it when I got to say WHATTTTAAAWIIIINNNGGG every time I drove by. 2. The sauces and their fried breading. Their chicken grosses me out… The tenders always have thick strings of fat in them and the wings have so much skin I can’t find the meat? I like skin don’t get me wrong… But not the chewy kind. Hear me barkin, big dawg? I always end up peeling the breading off the tenders and licking my fingers for the sauce. Case and point thee only two good things about this place. Parking is a nightmare and the always running late delivery guy double parks in front of the store anyways… So you might as well park across the street in front of the apt. Bldg, clench ur loved ones hand and dart across the 4 lanes of traffic that piles up on Mass Ave. Ps bring back my sandwich shop and the thanksgiving sandwich that they made :(

Whatta Wing does an excellent chicken wing except that I have not ordered from them in 6 months because… they charge me $ 3 more to add multiple sauces — minus 2 stars. I want a variety of sauce/rub/spice and I don’t want to be effing charged extra for it. You can purchase 3 of the 8 wing orders with three different sauces for $ 21. If you order one order of 24 wings for $ 17.95, you only get one flavor. Wings over Somerville gives me this option, so, obviously, you should too Whatta Wing. They make excellent wings, I just get angry about the lack of mix and match. Quick and timely delivery and the wings always arrive hot and fried hard, just the way I like them. Yes I wrote the review to add to my wing list, care or not…

LOTSOFCHOICES for wing flavors. I got the honey teriyaki wings! Something that would help… a menu at the counter. I know my short term memory is weak, but what if I wanted to change my mind mid sentence? I’d have to walk back to the front of the shop and stare at it for another 10 minutes before ordering the same thing I wanted in the first place. That’s not really a complaint, btw… but yeah it would help. I give it an A-OK because it’s a little over priced. I doubt I’d come back and eat wings without a beer again… it just feels wrong.

Woo! Big fan of the wings here. I always get boneless, and these babies are big and juicy and slathered in sauce. You can get them in sets of 6, 12, so on and so forth. Three of us gals split 12 of them and it was plenty. We got the pretty average of hotness and it was perfect. Would love to come back and try some of their other flavors. They were also very generous with the celery, which I can appreciate. Getting extra was supposed to be an extra 50 cents or so, but he piled on a few extra bundles anyway.

great wings — large in size, excellent in quality(i.e. not fried so hard they become crispy husks) and delicious flavor — i went to undergrad in Buffalo NY and since moving out here to Boston over 13 years ago, I can tell you I have been unable to find decent wings anywhere — except maybe duffs in Newton — in fact I had even given up on them and have not attempted to purchase a wing in over 5 years. Tried these a couple days ago and was so impressed I was compelled to write this!

Ok this review is pretty acurate since I just finished eating. I got chicken tenders and a cheesesteak as they call them on the menu. the Steak and Cheese was ok. It was very skimpy though. About as skimpy as I have seen them. It was was acceptable taste wise-my biggest gripe is the amount of meat they put in them. I give them kudos for taste though. Now the chicken on the other hand was over done-they probably should have taken it out of the frier a minute sooner. Chicken should be tender, the crust not so hard that it takes away from the chicken. I may give them another shot and try their wings… but I wouldn’t order the tenders again. A shame too. I love me some tenders.

Yum. I’ve tried most of their wings and sauces. The stronger flavors like: honey BBQ, honey mustard, etc are really good. Sometimes the actual chicken wing is hit or miss. I’d say I’ve gotten great wings about 80% of the time. Ok wings the rest of the time. The staff is friendly and nice. Their service is very quick and the delivery is awesome!

Great buffy wings. Always FRESH chicken(not frozen) and you can taste the difference. Apps are amazing too — fried zucchini sticks and fried breaded ravioli — oh baby. Perfect compliment to our dinner last night that was taking a little too long in the slow cooker — perhaps too perfect since we were kinda stuffed after taking down the appies. Great variety of sauces — mango habanero was a recent fave discovery. Next up to try is the pterodactyl sauce — combo of teriyaki and bbq. Good sandwiches and onion rings too! and the nicest bunch of dudes working there ever. Plus if you eat there, they’ve always got a game going on the flat screen.

At first I loved this place. My wife and I were almost addicted. Then strike one came as my routine delivery order was rebuffed because they don’t deliver to my street. This is after they had delivered to us about 5 times. Once I conveyed this, after a discussion, they agreed to deliver. Strike two: I called about an hour(an HOUR!) before closing time, and they declined to deliver because, I kid you not, the delivery person was«tired» and they were closing early. Strike three: I ordered some food, picked it up, and became violently ill. Both of us. I went back and looked at the leftovers. Underneath the gobs of sauce, I could tell that the chicken had not been fully cooked. Avoid at all costs.

Whatta Wing!‘s namesakes are crunchy, fairly-priced, and served by very friendly staff. I’ve eaten there 8 – 10 times, and recommend(1) the honey-BBQ sauce, in great preference to their Buffalo,(2) *garlic* Buffalo, and(3) ** eat in ** because anything hot and fried will not retain its crunch-factor if it’s steaming itself in a bag during the drive home. I suppose my baseline for extraordinary wings was the great Dakota J’s in New Haven, CT, and, believe it or not, the wings served by some Unos(before they became breaded atrocities). Every time I visit Whatta Wing!, I have a great wingy experience.

HORRIBLE Service. Delivery took over an hour. I called the restaurant and they said the delivery guy went to the wrong house. The lamest excuse in the book. Also, their wings are breaded. I am personally not a fan, but it is your preference. Fair warning.

Not bad, but not great either. The Honey Buffalo wings were heavily breaded, which wasn’t what we expected. .. we did take-out so not sure if that was the deal-breaker. But the breading was just an extra unnecessary layer of carbs before getting to the meaty wing and it was more soggy than crunchy. The sauce was decent at least. The family combo #2 is a great deal but word to the wise, way too much food for two people who decide to eat dinner at 9p :) It comes with 24 wings, French Fries, onion rings AND a 2 liter soda. The onion rings were pretty good and I am not even a huge onion ring fan. The fries were decent but nothing spectacular. Kinda sad you can only pick just one sauce for 24 wings! The one thing we were really surprised about is that the food was ready in a flash. We called in our order and they said it would be ready in 20 minutes and it was! I know most wing places take a lot longer so I guess if you’re in desperate need for decent wings fast, you can try this place. Getting back to the wings, they definitely get a nod for being plump and meaty, but again. .. they weren’t the best we have ever had. Deb and I are not completely disappointed as that only means the quest for the perfect wings in/around Boston continues. ..

Forget the wings, order the tenders for nearly the same price, and a 6 piece order will get you nearly a POUND of perfectly cooked, boneless chicken. We tried the Oriental Sesame and Garlic Buffalo, both were fantastic. I can’t fathom spending 1 $ per WING(basically a piece they used to throw away) they must make a killing on them, but they are losing money on the tenders, which were fantastic(and a LOT healthier) Much as I love deep fried skin and fat in sauce, if you want wings, go to Buffs(or if you are strapped for cash, Whiskey’s on Boylston St. has 10 cent wings Sun-Thurs at the bar!)
