Definitely not fancy but the food is good. Probably the best Chow Fun in the area and the roast duck is really good too. I’ve tried roast duck from other restaurants around here and flavor wise this place is probably the best. I recommend this place.

My family and I have been coming here for YEARS. I order the same dish when I go there. This is because this dish never fails me. I get the beef noodle soup with beef balls only with the big flat noodles. My dad gets the same dish as well. The reason I always get this dish is because it comes out piping hot. The soup is hot to the last bite. My mom and sister like to switch it up a bit and all their dishes have been good. They like to get the fried intestines over rice and that is such a good dish as well. I’ve also tried their egg noodle dish with the soup on the side. It’s also one of our favorites as well. I’ve liked everything I’ve ever ordered here. Their prices make the place even better! Service has been stellar, this is probably because my family goes there at least once or twice a week.

Over the years they have been generally consistent in their quality of food items but recent visit for take-out Char Sui was so bad that I would not go back. It is a shame since we frequented the take out for their Soy Chicken, Char Sui and Duck. Here’s why: 1) asked for a big piece of Char Sui(approx 1.5 lbs) 2) Chef dug around for a piece amongst a good selection in the warmer. 3) Got it home for dinner that night: — it was hard like it’s been in the warmer for at least a week. Tasted bad; so we through the rest away. Apparently he dug around to get rid of an old piece of Char Sui. Moral of the story: Always point out the piece you want; don’t let the chef pick one out for you. But I never had this problem before. Business must be slow — Too bad. Actually their quality of food has been declining the past few years somewhat. So this is the«last straw that broke the camels back».

Their noodles r the best. Nice and hot. Broth is amazing. Good thing there’s a Cambodian man that speaks the language to help us out on the noodle choice.(Phnom Penh noodle). Their fried bread(cha qwai) r fresh and amazing too. Definitely recommend.

My parents and I went there on Sunday for the first time and my mom and I got the house wonton soup. It was good when I was eating it, but the next morning we both had bad food poisoning. I have been sick for the past three days and I can’t eat anything without it coming up along with some of the soup. Never coming here again.

The only reason why this place got 2 stars instead of 1 is because this place is dirt cheap which, makes me question what am I really being served here!!! The picture of my bbq pork and wonton egg noodle soup looks better than it actually tastes. It lacks depth in flavor(maybe Kim needs to bring back the MSG) so it just tastes like sweetened hot pork flavored water. Umm, I just answered my own question. Bbq pork was decent but a slightly sweet for my taste buds. I will also add that you sanitize your chopsticks and table top since it looked like they employed a dog to lick their utensils and dishes clean. Also, a big pet peeve of mine that merchants do this, they required a $ 10 minimum purchase if you want to use a credit card. I could have made a fuss about this by stating this is the only form of payment I have or they can take a check from me. Instead of wasting any more time at this shit hole, I ordered more shitty food(hot and sour soup) to-go in order to satisfy their minimum purchase requirement.

This place never fails me. My family has been going here for years! From dining in their tiny rearuarant to ordering our meals for take out. Like many people have mentioned, its authentic and the«B» rating may be a little sktech but truly worth the risk in my opinion. I love the crispy duck, the chow funs are killer, the rice porridges are great, and the egg noodle soups are definitely tasty(been on their fried pork chop soup recently). Many things to try here and would recommend Kim Tar to anyone who is up for a yummy adventure. It’s usually very consistent but I guess you’ll have to take your chances here! Call me crazy but. I SERIOUSLYLOVETHISPLACE!

They have the best Teochownese Salted Fish Chicken Fried Rice in the Cerritos areas. Appreciated their warm, friendly, and speedy services; they’ve created an entrée that was not on the menu as per my request. I frequent this restaurant for their scrumptious food. Cheers to good eats and living life fully!

I must say that on my last visit, the customer service was improved 1000%. There was a marked effort to be friendly and courteous. The food was excellent again. My wife and I ordered the BBQ pork and wonton soup. The barbecue pork was a literal taste explosion, in a nice broth and fresh veggies. The wontons were fresh and meat-filled. Our 3yr old daughter could not get enough of them. We also ordered pickled veggies and fried wontons. The veggies were tart and delicious, and the wontons light and crispy. Now that the service is much improved, we will be coming here much more often.

Debated between 2 and 3 stars… but after seeing the waitress carelessly dipped one of her fingers into my soup and acted like nothing happened, most of my appetite disappeared in that same moment. Hygiene isn’t top priority at this place(as I’ve visually noticed) and service is very off-putting. Food is alright for the cheap price and good if you prefer something light, but the flavors are a bit lacking. The seafood in my noodle soup didn’t taste that fresh but the rice noodles were good(pretty much the only highlight). Cash Only!

Wow, this was a random find since I was really going to the Shanghai Restaurant next door, but saw that this place sells BBQ, so stopped by. Ordered: (1) whole roast duck $ 18.99, very reasonably priced, and my husband loves it! he said the meat is so plump and tasty too. wow, it beats having to buy the duck directly from a Ranch 99! :) He wants to go there again next time to pick up more duck haha (2) Intestine & preserved veggies — i’ve never seen a BBQ place sell this, but this place did and bought about $ 5 worth of intestine + preserved vegetables(it comes together). intestine was kinda fatty and salty, but it’s ok. I wouldn’t get it again in the future. Plenty of parking in the lot. Credit Card accepted here!

Seriously the BESTHOT&SOURSOUP in town! Their Hot & Sour soup is so flavorful that even when I tone down the spiciness with a bit of water, it still tastes great! Makes a great comfort food too. They charge $ 6.95 for the soup and it is enough for 2 people to share. Experienced good and quick service with take out orders. Plenty of parking in the strip mall.

Vietnamese-Cantonese food at such a great price! This place has probably been open for at least 30+ years. I have probably been here at least 50 times… ever since I was little. I remember the health inspection rating varied from C to B. then back to C. and now recently back to B. But as sad as it sounds, the Asian restaurants that last for decades are ones that don’t have good health inspection ratings. It’s one of the only places in the area that still sells the most basic Chinese BBQ platters…(broiled squid, roast duck, boiled chicken, boiled intestines, etc…) It’s also got a huge menu – a variety of various noodle soups, dry noodles, rice, entrée dishes… The portions are huge, and the price is low!(price has gone up a lot compared to many years ago… but economy has been harsh. compared to other restaurants nowadays, this place is still considered pretty low priced…)

I’ve been going to Kim Tar for as long as I can remember to buy BBQ Pork. It’s probably the best place to get it too; I have been to other markets for BBQ Pork but it just doesn’t taste the same. But this time, I came here for some lunch. The lunch specials menu items are all $ 6.95, and for that price you get the entrée, rice, and soup. Pretty great deal! We ordered the Family Style Bean Curd, Mabo Tofu, and the Beef and Tomato. Service is quick, and our orders got to us in about 5 – 10 minutes. Then again, we came at the beginning of lunch(11 am), so it might be different during the rush. The food was decent, but nothing special. I would have given it an average rating, but I have a soft spot for their BBQ Pork and their cheap prices! Food: 3, Service: 3, Ambiance: 3, Price: 5

Been going to Kim Tar for decades(even though I am a white Jewish guy!). The reason why is that I truly enjoy their poultry offerings. I never duck their roasted duck. Couple that with the sauce and pao tsi(Chinese kim chee) and I am in an Asian comfort zone. But its not only the duck, their soy chicken is truly a joy. It is moist and tender laden with a delicious covering that makes it easy to taste and chew. Each dish comes with a side order of rice which makes them both nice! To be honest, these are what I always order because I go there for my cravings. They do have a diverse menu of noodles, soups, rice and other dishes that would truly be worth ordering. Even though Kim Tar is far, it is worth the drive in satisfying my yearning for their clinging duck(in their glass case) and soy chicken.

My Chinese Comfort Food Place What a big difference a couple of years makes, my review from 2011 was so brief, it really needed an update. This restaurant is part of a group of restaurants on my dinner rotation in the Cerritos /Artesia area. Each having their own specialty dish. This restaurant specializes in Chinese BBQ dishes. BBQ pork, roast duck, roasted pork, soy sauce chicken, fried pork intestine, etc etc. You can even order a roasted whole pig(3 sizes) As I’ve mentioned on my first review. This is my favorite place to get BBQ pork. They just make it the best IMO. Smoky, crusty & a bit charred on the outside and soft inside. The sauce they ladle on top is just so good(on the sweet side). But that’s not the only thing they’re good at. My favorite dishes here: BBQ Pork(of course) Roast Duck Beef Stew Noodle Soup(ask of the thin yellow noodles, not rice noodles) Preserved Aged Egg & Pork Porridge Fried Squid w/Pepper Spicy Salt Clams w/Black Bean Sauce Braised Bean Curd w/Brown Sauce Salted Fish, Diced Chicken Fried Rice. Service is very fast, but still typical Chinese restaurant service(sometimes good, sometimes bad) Price is very reasonable. When I’m craving some Chinese comfort food, this is where I go.
