City’s Takeout

HORRID! Soggy, bland, and a stretch for anyone looking for «good» food. I ended up having to cook anyhow because we threw this crap away! It appears to be a great BBQ hole in the wall at first. Until you realize they are cooking Costco French fries and making Reuben’s from pre made everything. If you just don’t want to cook, save you’re money and go anywhere but here. Because you will end up throwing your food and money away.

These guys are good, but have potential to be great.
You park, walk into a small building and look at the menu. The menu has some great sounding food. I went with a Tijuana Burger, which came with a juicy patty, fried cheese crisp, and fried jalapenos. You order, and then can either watch your food being made or head outside and find a table.
For our group of 7, the food came out reasonably quick for being prepared fresh. We had our boxes, found some tables, and sat down in the hot sun. For drinks you have selections of canned soda or an energy drink with a lion on it. I went with that.
The food was good. The burger patty was the highlight, along with the fried cheese crisps on top. The jalapenos were also good. What needed work was the bun. I’m pretty sure it was just a cheap, standard grocery store bun. It didn’t take away too much from the burger, but changing the bun up would definitely make this burger better.
The worst part was the fries. They were just straight Ore-​Ida crinkle fries, right out of the big freezer bag. They are what hold this restaurant back from being something more special and from easily being a 4-​star review. Right when I saw the big red bag pouring out fries into the oil I knew there was going to be trouble. I love fries, but I can make those kind of fries or better at home fairly simple.
So overall the service is great and friendly, the burgers are awesome, the fries are awful.

Wow. This place is pretty great for how small it is. Finally gave into the reviews/​hype and they lived up to it! The staff is friendly and attentive. Made sure I was getting the meal I wanted while making some great suggestions to try the Tijuana burger. It was great tasting and very filling. The roasted jalapenos and bacon were very tasty on the burger and fries were fresh. I’ll be coming back on a sunnier day to use the patio as well.

Ok. If you’ve seen my feed, you know I don’t write many reviews. Who wants to read what other people think? I don’t really understand the appeal. Why read about me complain? I don’t typically write positive reviews, as I don’t usually want people to crowd me out of a good thing.
But wow! What a super nice owner. After a very busy morning, on the day after their vacation, they were out of most supplies, but his wife was at the store. We said we’d wait until she got back as my son really wanted a biscuit sandwich. We were at the picnic tables waiting. And waiting. We didn’t mind as it was a nice morning, and my friend happened to drive by, so I had someone to talk to while my son had his head buried in a game on his phone.
Well anyway, after a while, the owner came out with some free food!!! He made me an awesome breakfast burrito, and he made a great breakfast sandwich (they were originally out of biscuits) for my son! He said that his wife was stuck in a long line at the grocery store, and he didn’t want us to have to wait any longer!!! Not only was the free food super tasty, it earned them a 5 star review on service alone!

We got a delicious burger with fried cheese and big roasted jalapeño peppers. Onion rings and a chicken Philly all were delicious

This place is pretty good if you’re in the area and looking for something besides fast food. They make their onion rings from scratch! The only issue I have is that they under-​season their burgers. I guess they figure their accoutrements will provide enough flavor, but when getting a basic burger please add a little salt and pepper to the meat!

Dinky and dingy and worth a try or three. If I wasn’t on a diet I would be here every morning! Breakfast sandwiches are cooked to order and stacked with good meats, tasty eggs and LOTS of cheese. Looks like a gutbomb but sits well. I’ve only had breakfast items but I’ve heard the burgers are awesome.

Dingy and dirty, but some of the best greasy burgers in Arvada! The owner is super friendly too!

What a great find thanks to Unilocal!We get our RV serviced down the road and now schedule the tune-​ups around City’s hours. The burger is one of the best that I have ever had and the biscuits and gravy are delicious.
The service is always with a smile and it was great to shake the owner’s hand and hear how much he enjoys serving his neighborhood.

The best kept secret in Arvada! Amazing food, great service in a quaint, easy to miss hole in the wall joint. Get up early and swing by for a killer breakfast, you won’t be disappointed. …

Great special burger with bacon, jalapenos, cheese… yummy… huge serving! Perfect fries. Funny family running the place, timely service. Excellent all around.
May go to five stars after I eat more of their dishes!

I always look at 5-​star reviews with skepticism — but with 15, I decided it was worth a try and I’m glad I did.
Its not the most immaculate shop, but its part of the charm — and most importantly the food is phenomenally good. Great food, low price, super friendly service… worth visiting when you’re jonesing for some good hearty breakfast grub.

I was taking a class nearby and was at a loss for lunch options until I found this spot. Charming little take out place with friendly service and spot on recommendations. The sandwiches are delish and you get your money’s worth! I’ll definitely be back.

This place starts up the awesome train at 6am and karate chops orders like it’s goin outta style!!! I get breakfast burritos almost every morning! Dave is one of the nicest guys in Colorado and cooks some great food!

City’s is an AMAZING place. The owner is a huge sweetheart and that truly shows in his food. Dave is always fun to talk with and he actually cares about his customers. We go in groups of 6 or more every week and everything there is awesome. I’d highly recommend this place!

Want a cheap awesome yummy breakfast? Look no further! You enjoy friendly family run places where they will cook your breakfast exactly the way you like it? You found just the spot. You miss your grandma’s cooking? You know, the one made with love? Yup, this place is for you then.

Ermahgerd total hole-​in-​the-​wall… and BEST sausage gravy I’ve ever had (as a guy raised in South Carolina)… all for a wooping $ 5.5 It came in a large styrofoam box with two biscuits, not made from scratch but fresh, and the best seasoned sausage gravy with a hearty thing of breakfast potatoes on the side. I can’t wait to go back. Don’t let the run down place fool you this place is a gem!

The food was absolutely delicious, it’s a definite hole-​in-​the-​wall, but in a good way! Owner is friendly, and he cut me a deal when I didn’t ask for one, and gave me a free bottles water. Spent $ 6 and got a gyro, fries, and a drink. My new local quick stop for a good cheap lunch
