A hidden gem — I went for lamp repair, and Mike told me that although he repairs lamps, my made in China piece of crap bought at some chain wasn’t worth saving. He went on to show me just how badly made it was — he was right. We got to talking and I found out that he was the premier sales and repair of antique lamps in the country. A lot of old movies have his stock, particularly for something set turn of the last century (1800⁄1900). I was mesmerized by his knowledge and ended up buying an antique brass stand lamp which he polished up for me and now sports an Edison bulb in my living room.
