The Curry Club closed down over a month ago. Total bummer b/c the food was excellent.

I would have never guessed to find such a good place for Indian food in Ashburn. The curries were delicious and the bread was pretty good. I liked the cauliflower dish, the lamb, and the appetizer sampler tray. Explanation for the missing starts — I don’t know if the restaurant was new, but one thing that threw me off was the waiter. I don’t need the staff to come from the country where the cuisine originates, but our waiter clearly didn’t understand Indian food. He also«ordered in his mind» for us. This means that he served us the dishes that he liked instead of the ones we ordered. My friend was too sweet to mention anything, until later when he finally gave us some of the dishes we ordered. Normally, I wouldn’t care if his selection was good, but he only liked the dishes that didn’t have a lot of spice to them. I also hope they fixed the fancy fountain in the middle of the restaurant. That would be a nice touch.

Update — so yeah — stick to the bufffet. We ordered off the menu and it was quite disappointing.

We kind of found this gem by accident. Husband’s out of town friends were staying at the Embassy Suite next door, and we decided to try this place because they wanted go to somewhere close and didn’t want to drive. The service was not«good.» It was great! They were prompt despite the evening dinner crowd. Our little party of 8 were impressed with the server’s patience. We don’t know much about Indian food, and our server took time to talk through the menu and the specials. Throughout the dinner service, our server probably stopped by our table a dozen time just to make sure we were«happy.» :) The food was awesome. We started with samosas and they were crispy, not greasy, and stuffed with peas and potato. The shrimp sauteed in garlic sauce was good even for someone like who doesn’t like shrimp. We ordered a bunch of entrees and there were so much food that we ended up with a family style dinner where we shared everything. I really enjoyed the goat marsala and lamb vindaloo. My husband liked the murgh chitinad and vegetables in creamy curry sauce. We thought the eggplant was a little too greasy. We had a bread basket with fresh nann, rotti, and parantha that went well with the entrees. Overall this is a great place. It’s a little bit out of the ways for us to get to, but we do plan to come back. I think next time we are going to try the lunch buffet so that we can sample everything…

Convenient Indian Lunch Buffet I went here for lunch, hearing from my co-workers that it’s SOGOOD. It SO wasn’t THAT good. The service is very friendly and very efficient(at times). The buffet spread is okay at best, but I’ve had better. Their butter chicken is WAYTOOSWEET. As for the rest of the spread, the names are too complex to remember. Everything mixed on my plate, it all tasted like average curries, chickpeas, lentils, spinach, etc. They bring out fresh naan. Probably the best part of the place. I only go back because my co-workers love it, but sometimes I’d rather just stay at my work’s cafeteria. I love Indian, but if I’m going to intake all those calories, it better be damn good.

The weekday lunch buffet is awesome. The kheer or gulab jamun are both fantastic totally recommended.

Had the lunch buffet here a few weeks ago and I thought it was pretty good. My buddy and I were both seated promptly and there was no waiting around, we jumped to the buffet right away. When we came back there was hot bread waiting for us and it was delicious. Each dish was labeled with its name, but it really could have used a short 1 – 2 sentence description for the non-Indians there(about 80% of the people were non-Indian when we were there). The part that could use the most work is the dessert options. When I went in there was only 1 dessert, a sweet custardy vermicelli dish. It was alright, but all of my Indian friends talk about how great Indian desserts here, so this seemed like a cop out to just have 1 option. Overall I think the price was pretty good, and we’ll go back here again. A little more information on the buffet dishes, and a few more dessert options, and this could easily be a 4 – 5 star lunch option in the burn.

Update – I am bringing it down to 3 stars after we came here for dinner once and ordered off the menu. It was just OK. This place is best for its buffet

I don’t give many five-star ratings, but this is the best Indian restaurant outside the beltway. Friendly staff, fresh ingredients, and tasty dishes.

A very good Indian lunch buffet. Most diners are Indians or area datacenter staff or both. In any event, its Indian food for people who like reasonably authentic Indian food, not overly Americanized stuff. Only drawback is lack of Naan on the buffet. In a basket on the table and not enough. Butter chicken is very good. Spicy dishes are spicy.

Ok, we finally made it for dinner at this wonderful restaurant for the first time since learning of it a few months ago. What a gem! Unquestionably the best Indian food we’ve found nearby and even better than our now second favorite, Taj of India in Georgetown. Of course, poor, sad Banjara has fallen far on our like-o-meter over the past couple years. My wife and I had heard good things but we’re always skeptical of strip mall spots, having seen some horribly odd interior decorating attempts with mediocre food. The ambiance at Curry Club is warm and inviting without that«YOU’REININDIADAMMIT» soundtrack playing overandoverandoverandover. Seated, we quickly ordered our standard pair of Taj Majal beers but were advised to try Godfather beer instead. «If you don’t like it, you don’t have to pay for it.» We tried and found it a much better companion to the food. And the food! An absolute delight and again, the best we’ve found in the area. Wife ordered palak paneer and I had lamb vindaloo at max heat. We also ordered a butter chicken to round out our tasting, knowing these leftovers make for great breakfast(ha). The spinich was cooked to perfection with flavorful chucks of cheese. We both love spicy but her only critique was her dish was just a tad too much so. In all fairness, it may have been my fault for asking for a «10» and«7» heat on the other two dishes — they may have assumed the palak paneer was supposed to be hotter than normal. Regardless, it did not detract from the experience. The lamb and chicken were fresh, moist and EXACTLY how you’d want them to taste. Around 7pm, there were only two tables of patrons and a couple drinking the bar. With that, it’s tough to say how the waitstaff would perform under pressure but this night, they moved efficiently and quietly in and out of our space at what seemed just the right time. You’ll definitely see us there again. Can’t wait to try the buffet!

food was fresh and flavorful, a bit on the salty side but overall all the food we had was great. definitely better then we expected from the casual sign they have outside and the name of the restaurant. It’s actually a nice sit down restaurant, we had the mango lassi drink, lamb chops, one of the curries, and garlic naan. They make the naan fresh there, that was interesting to watch through the little window. Food and service was very good overall!

Hands down the best Indian buffet I have been to. The price is higher than other buffets at $ 12 but totally worth it. All of the food tasted fresh and there was definitely attention paid to keeping the food fresh and rotated. The service is approximately 14x better than any other IB. There is no naan on the buffet. A waiter brings you a fresh basket after you sit down. And then someone keeps coming around offering you more. The butter chicken was excellent. There was another chicken dish in between the butter chicken and the tandoori chicken and I cannot remember the name but the sauce was oily and amazing. I could’ve just eaten that sauce on the rice for hours and been happy. The saag paneer was great too. I arrived at 11:45 and was a little worried because the place was completely empty except for one other table. Then at 12:15 people started coming in. I will be back.

This place is everything I hoped it would be. It’s a shame I don’t have any more reasons to visit Ashburn, but I’m looking to make an excuse, just to eat at the Curry Club one more time. The food is amazing. The wait staff is amazing. The atmosphere was amazing. Weird that all of this was located in an almost deserted shopping center.

You know the tipping point to realizing you spend too much time Unilocaling? When you’re having dinner at a restaurant and the table next to you is talking about your review. Luckily they didn’t recognize me or I would have been forced to interrupt my delicious dinner to kiss babies, sign breasts or do some other celeb pastime I’ve grown tired of. Okay so I’m not writing an update to tell you how fabulous I am. I mean, you probably already know that anyway. The real purpose is to say the same *better than expected* quality is present when ordering from the dinner menu. I am continually impressed at how unwilling they are to dumb down the spice for American tastes. They were quick with a recommendation for«non-spicy dishes without curry» [sigh] for my adoring fans… but their default position leans towards authentic. The white tablecloths are a nice touch, but sadly the décor does little to make you feel like you’re not just having an expensive lunch. The place was already decorated from a previous restaurant, so I guess I can’t fault them TOO much for not taking a sledgehammer to it all. As long as they keep cooking the BESTINDIANINLOUDOUNCOUNTY(yeah, I said it), I’ll keep going. Now if only I can get them to change the asinine name…

The lunch buffet here is actually very nice, in particular for a buffet. The food gets rotated around regularly, portions stay in plate, but do not sit on the line long. Pricing is a bit high, but its a nicer lunch buffet.(11−12USD). For dinner, the menu was decent enough, but the food was not quite spicy enough when we asked. We were very specific, it could be ‘as hot as you would make it for the folks from that area of India.’ It was not, but it still tasted good. Service was decent. I will go back again, but more than likely for lunch.

I just ate a reasonably depressing solo Valentine’s day dinner(Hey, I’m traveling on business — all of my fawning ladies are back in Chicagoland) but at least the food was good. Fairly standard buffet fare, including good vegetable samosas, good(spicy!) mint chutney, and a couple things I don’t often see, including«chilly» prawns, a fish dish, an unfamiliar take on a paneer dish, speared on toothpicks with grilled veggies, and coated with more of that mint chutney, plus a version of the ever popular chicken makhani that managed to be both sweeter and hotter than most I’ve had, plus more tomato flavor. Not sure if that’s what I want every time, but it was good, and it was nicely different. Service was excellent — extremely friendly — I was unable to turn down a sort of caramel custard dessert, which was pretty tasty. Pretty much a less substantial flan, with some toffee crumbles on top. Unfortunately, no khir to be found, just gulub jamun, which I definitely do not have a taste for. I’d like to try something off the menu, but for now, this place is pretty solid, even if it does have the sort of name that doesn’t exactly scream authentic. At a glance, between name, and the look of a sort of trendy bar, I might just have skipped it. Thank goodness the word«Indian» is written very small beneath that cheesy name.
