Favorite pizza in the Carolinas! Nice and crispy with fresh ingredients. Great vibe inside also. Staff was extremely friendly and knowledgable. Would highly recommend the Scarface pizza. Perfect blend of Italian toppings. Enjoy! Must visit!

Our pizza was so yummy! This was our first stop in Asheville for lunch, and it was perfect. The pizza was awesome– a friend and I split the Rose’s with prosciutto. The boys had BBQ and something that looked like a Mexican take(I’m not sure what it was called). Best of all, my friend’s aunt had a pizza that she loved and met her dietary restrictions(gluten-free veggie). If she and my(aggressively carnivorous) husband were both happy, this place has something for everyone! The restaurant was having electricity problems while we were there, but the wood oven works anyways. Pizza and beer were no problem. :)

The second I walked in the door I was hit with the smell of charred dough. I knew right then I was going to like this place. For our appetizer we ordered Bruschetta and it was excellent. A very flavorful mixture and the bread was perfect, crispy and just the right size. We ordered the Sicillian, which is a mix of cheeses with capicola. My wife doesn’t like capicola so we were able to substitute sausage with fennel at no extra charge. The pizza was thin but not too thin which is a mistake a lot of wood fried pizza bakers make. The toppings were generous and tasty. Mike, our server was friendly and attentive. All in all a great experience and a must go to whenever we come back to the Asheville area.

I was quite fond of this one. It was a big step up from the place that previously occupied this space, in my opinion. The pizza is the nice, thin, crispy kind that you’re hopefully thinking of when you imagined what it would be like in here. The selection of specialty pizzas is absolutely fantastic, to the point that it makes it very difficult to choose which one you like. The prices are incredibly reasonable, too, considering the portion size you get. We both had a ton of leftovers to take home.

Visiting Asheville for 5 days on business. Saw good reviews for Fresh on Unilocal and decided to check it out. First good sign, there is parking available, which is a big plus if you are not from Asheville and don’t know your way around town! Service was excellent. Only one server but super friendly and I never waited for anything! I tried the Sicilian pizza. The crust was light an delicious. Not a bit of grease. Toppings were fresh and also delicious. I will be back before my week here is over. Not sure which pizza to try next. Wish Fresh would come to Charlotte… not sure when I’ll make it back up here.

Delicious pizza. Friendly service. Crust was thin but not burnt and homemade sausage was super yummy.

We ran in here to start off a small plate crawl the other night. The place was empty when we went in at 7PM on a Wednesday which scared me a bit, but the service was great and the crust on our pizza was BALLIN! Light cloud soft pillows of tender tasty crust wrapped in a super thin super crispy ummmm well crust. I could have eaten this crust all night long. I want some of that crust right now. It was super crusty. I loved it. I think there were some toppings on the pizza. They were good. Did I mention the crust though? mmmmmm crust!

Our visit was on a Saturday at 2:30, and it was semi packed. Our waiter was an NC native. Really cool looking lights inside. The menu doesn’t mention(check the table display) but the root beer is also cane sugar, not corn syrup so that’s cool. Took a few minutes to order but got an apology for the wait so that was nice. I had the gluten free florentine pizza. The ingredients were full and plentiful, the crust was flavored very nicely. They have a few gluten free beers as well for $ 4 as of 1÷1÷16. Well done! TLDR: Cool place for a decent price, medium wait.

Ok, I’m going to start by saying that I am not a total snob when it comes to pizza, and it is not hard to give me a positive pizza experience. That having been said, my experience at fresh pizza West, was disappointing, and I doubt I will be returning. We ordered the Rose’s pizza and it was missing several toppings. I did not ask them to remake the pizza, because I was very hungry, and just wanted to eat and leave. Honestly, I would have been upset, but the fruit and cheese plate that we also ordered was out of this world! Good amount of cheese and fruit for 2 – 4 people, we took some home and had it later for a tiny snack since the portion was so generous. All in all, we came for the pizza, and while the pizza flavours worked(I love wood fired pizza, the char is to die for) I wanted a pizza that had the toppings that I paid for, not the pizza they gave me, because that pizza scarcely had cheese.

Fresh! If you’re in the mood for pizza, yet can’t bear the thought of a greasy pile of cheese, then this is your new go-to! You can expect a nice variety of wood fired pizzas, a few local beers on tap, and a small yet interesting wine list. Prices are very reasonable and kids will enjoy watching the chefs toss pizza dough and use the REAL wood stove in action! Fresh has been in Black Mountain for several years and I was thrilled when they opened their new location in the River Arts District. You can easily walk to Fresh from many of the surrounding studios and it’s great for a quick lunch or a leisurely family dinner. The décor is nothing fancy, which I personally think is just fine for a pizza diner. It’s clean and inviting, which is what really matters. This location also has a covered, well-lit patio for outdoor dining when the weather is nice. Definitely stop by if you’re in the RAD!

This place hit the spot for pizza and salad. Toppings were really where it was at(tomatoes and herbed ricotta on one pie). Pizza sauce was rich, sweet, and tomato-ey. Service was friendly and efficient. The menu warned that the 850-degree oven could chat our crust, but that didn’t happen for us. The crust was not the cracker-like texture that we’ve come to expect from a wood fired oven, but it wasn’t bad — just a little more chewy than we thought it might be. They were out of a few things, which didn’t bother us at all but can sometimes be a sign of trouble. I also didn’t see any local beers on the menu, which is a shame in such a brew-happy town! We will return when we’re back in the area looking for a pizza!

Great pizza! Had the Baby Blue pizza and it was fantastic! They grow their own vegetables and herbs for their pizza. Highly recommend!

Great pizza(it takes awhile, but is well made). The servers are very kind and funny but not that together– they mixed up our beers and had to get the order twice(I would take kindness of togetherness though). The porch is good, but the building could be cooler(the vibe is a bit bright and obnoxious). Love the pizza options(very creative). Wish they had beer on tap.

Food was good but they are extremely understaffed. The waiter was good but had waaaay too many tables to cover.

Good, but not great. The pizza was tasty, the service was a little lackluster from the moment we came in. Waited a long time to place our order… started with cheese garlic sticks, turned out they were not sticks at all, but just another thin pizza. What? So we ended up leaving with extra food because we ordered two pizzas, thinking they were plate size. Not a complaint, but aware that you can probably split a pizza between 2 people and be just fine with a small appetizer. No problems parking, and with a good distance between you and downtown, it was nice to get away from the crowds.

I’ve only been to Fresh West once and look forward to trying it again. My first impressions of the restaurant were friendly staff, a super beautiful mosaic’d wood oven, and a tantalizing specailty pizza menu. My boyfriend and I decided to do splits on a large salad and pizza(all pizzas are 13″). We had the Tuscan salad of mixed greens, tomatoes, pecans and goat cheese with a lemon parsley dressing. I thought the tomatoes were odd with the pecans but otherwise delicious, very fresh and satisfying. As for the pizza, we tried the Napoli. Honestly, it was nothing to write home about… but I think that was because of the flavor combinations rather than quality. The toppings on the Napoli are brie cheese, sundries tomatoes(weird), prosciutto(drool) and roasted red peppers. I look forward to trying the Bayou with cream sauce, clams and shrimp… yum!

Just like the stars say: meh, I’ve experienced better. In fact, I have experienced better at Wood Fired Fresh in Black Mountain! The crust was under salted and overall very generic — both taste and mouthfeel. It lacked any sort of rich wheat and yeast tanginess that the crust at the Black Mountain location has. I know the location in Black Mountain has an oven around 800°+ — we asked our server at the West location if she knew if the oven was about the same. She wasn’t sure, so she asked, and we were told it was closer to 500° here. Maybe that is part of the reason for the boring crust? We had a plain mozzarella pie, and the Madonna(but with garlic and olive oil sauce). The mozzarella was chewy in a rubbery sort of way, the red sauce was dull, perhaps also under salted and under seasoned? The roasted garlic on the Madonna was very good, but again the sauce left a lot to be desired. The dollops of ricotta cheese were so inappropriately large that they weren’t even hot in the middle. How is that even possible? This is a pretty disappointing outcome, considering the quality at the Black Mountain location, and the fact that this is the same oven turned out pretty fantastic pizza for Pizza Pura. The cost to quality ratio seemed inappropriate in our experience. There are not a lot of great pizza opportunities in Asheville, and I count this among them.

Having eaten at Fresh in Black Mountain a little while back, I was excited to learn they were opening an outpost in the River Arts District. My visit today was great. The bedazzled pizza oven cranks out good pies. I shared the Scarface(Italian meats) with a companion. The wood-fired crust had a nice char to it and the sauce is obviously not just dumped out of a can. Everything going past our table from soup to salad to sandwiches looked good as well. Service was prompt, polite and friendly. My only complaint is that beer prices were about $ 1 more per pint than I’m used to in the area, but the beer(Highland Lost Cove) was delicious, cold and properly served. I shall return! Of note, Fresh is vegan friendly offering Daiya cheese and a multitude of veggie toppings for those poor souls who don’t eat meat.
