Holy moly!!! Went there before a show at The Grey Eagle. Looking at the menu, I wanted ALL the tacos. Everything sounded fantastic! Ended up getting four, which was a bit too much as they are not tiny tacos. All four were absolutely fantastic. Don’t get over to Asheville as often as I should, but will keep popping back into White Duck Taco in order tow rock through the entire menu.

Some of the best tacos we have ever had! Our ONLY complaint is that the chips we got with our queso were stale… We didn’t mind that too much, because the tacos were so amazing!

OOOOOOMMMMMGGGGGG. Yes. I was on my honeymoon and ended up having two impacted teeth but I refused to let it stop me eating all of the amazing food Asheville has to offer! White Duck is a MUST. The pickled watermelon I could eat all day. The tacos came up super fast and they probably were the most amazing tacos I have ever had. Keep up the awesomeness and open up in Tampa!!!

the duck taco is sooooo good. duck works so well with fruits and cream. and the texture of tortillas here is just perfect. but i couldnt taste the mole. didn’t think i was missing out tho. bangkok shrimp is just ok. do we need the breading really? it’s less bangkok more chinese takeout imo. fish taco is the most traditional of the three i ordered. it’s good but not that special. service was quick and girl behind counter was very patient, especially when i was ordering for 3 ppl and all of us took forever to make up our minds

Love this place! The tacos are excellent! I’ve never been a fish taco fan until White Duck Taco. And $ 2 dollar tecate is a price that cannot be beaten. Whenever I find myself with very little cash in my pocket, this is my go to place. And when I find myself with a lot of cash in my pocket, it’s still my go to place but instead I double up on everything plus some chips and cheese! Yummmmmm. Also, friendly service and a great atmosphere.

First stop during our«eat and drink your way through Asheville» tour. Solid spot with tasty and large tacos. The variety of tacos range from tofu Bahn mi to lamb gyro and bulgogi with of course a duck confit taco that was definitely tasty. Worth swinging by for sure.

The conversation will eventually come up among friends on where the best tacos they’ve ever had. Some will say mexico which would be an admirable choice. For me though, it will be a shop down some back roads in the middle of no where(to me anyway) in the River Arts District of Asheville North Carolina. If the other 500 reviews don’t convince you allow mine to be the one to put you over the edge. Seriously, I’ll fight anyone in a Bloodsport type fight to defend this place as having the best Taco’s ever. The how and why’s we ended up at this place are not important but I am just thankful that my sister in law recommended it to us. I would seriously take a road trip to get my hands on some of these bad boys. We got here on a coolish November Tuesday at around 1pm and the place was hopping. The line was decent but moved very quickly. Basically you walk in one door go up to the counter and order your deliciousness, grabs your drinks, pay and then take a seat either inside or at one of the outside seats and the lovely staff bring you said deliciousness. We had the crib midget with us and his chariot(stroller) and we were able to maneuver it with ease. For the Taco’s we got the following: Mole Duck: Holy Mole(I had to) this was good. The duck itself was perfectly tender with out being dry and the plethora of accouterments did not overpower it. Bankok Shrimp: Another home run, I remember it being lightly spicy, scratch that, I;d say more alive with flavor. A definite favorite. . Steak: Another home run. Perfectly cook steak underneath what seemed to be a salad. Still the steak shined through Pork belly: This was the only let down for me :(The pork belly was cooked well but the sauce that was on top of it overpowered it. They also have cheerwine which is my favorite! And they serve alcohol which all the more reason why this place is the bomb. And I can;t say enough about the staff. They are on top of everything and make you feel welcome! I would seriously go here every day if i lived nearby. If you are anywhere in a 150 mile vicinity you must come try and if you’re further out just plan a road trip… and call me, I’ll totally come too :)

This place hit the spot on New Years Eve. It was crowded and the line was out the door when we arrived but it moved quickly! We had just enough time to look at the menu board and decide on our tacos. I had the duck, bang bang shrimp, and fish, and all were tasty. We also ordered chips and the salsa trio and a couple of margaritas. The margaritas were the only thing lackluster about this place – tasted like grocery store mix. I happily drank it though! There is limited seating indoors at this location so unless it is warm enough to comfortably sit outside I think I would pick somewhere else to eat, but I do plan to come back and try the other tacos.

I’m a sucker for a good taco, especially the new, trendy kind that have all sorts of exotic ingredients. So, of course, when visiting Asheville on vacation recently, I had to try this place. Between me and the boyfriend, we tried four tacos and the salsa trio. I loved the salsa trio — all three were delicious, but the creamy chipotle salsa was my favorite. The boyfriend did not enjoy it because he did not think it should have been classified as salsa(haha). Far point perhaps, but tasty nonetheless. The four tacos were: — Bangkok Shrimp — Pork Belly — Korean Beef — Duck Mole In contrast to some other reviews below, I thought the Bangkok Shrimp was very disappointing and the Pork Belly and Korean Beef were AWESOME. The Shrimp taco has an unexpected curry flavor to it, although the cucumbers on it are a nice touch. The Pork Belly was tasty, just a touch too much fat on the piece of meat. I didn’t prefer the duck taco, mostly because I’m not a fan of dried fruit and it had dried cranberries on it. If I’m back in Asheville any time soon, this is certainly a place I’d try again.

Oh.My.Holy.Jesus I am almost sad I tried this place because now I know nothing will compare if Im ever in the mood for Tacos again! UGH! This place kind of seems out in the middle of nowhere. Or well, it’s on the outskirts of downtown Asheville? I’m just a tourist so I don’t know, but we went at night and it was slightly creepy. haha. I think I heard its in the art district? Again, tourist here. not sure. ANYWAY, it’s not a small place, but its not huge either, I feel like it was just right for us but I could see this place being slammed in the summer. From the looks of it they also have outside seating? Tacos are pretty quick to eat so I can envision them turning tables pretty quick here. But really, lets move on to what’s most important. The food! The food was INCREDIBLE. SO many different style tacos, and so much flavor in every taco. And wow, they give you a TON of meat! We started of with chips and queso(Queso was great!) and then got a salsa flight. A salsa flight, right? *Checks phone pictures* yeah, something like that. It has a red, a green salsa, and then that weird light sour cream pink stuff. Which, my sister hates, but I was able to devour. Then came our main course(s), which I might add came out VERY quick! My dad is a simple man. He is a negative nelly and complains about everything. I think he complains more when I’m around because I like to go to the funkiest places a foodie can find and then I leave him to try and find the most boring/basic thing on the menu. TLDR: Simple man is stuck finding simplest thing on this menu which happened to be the buffalo chicken taco(when I say simple I also mean«most familiar»). Anyway, he got two of those. And he LOVED it! It was seriously to my surprise because I thought for sure he would have SOMETHING bad to say. but nope! Was very pleased with the taste of the authentic tortillas(he only eats flour), and he was surprised with how much meat was on both of his tacos. So Id say that ranked this restaurant pretty high up there! For me I got the Korean BBQ, the Duck Mole, the Buffalo chicken and the Thai Peanut Chicken. Out of that bunch I’d the Duck Mole was probably my least favorite. I think it had cranberries on it? Or a cranberry sauce? The flavors didn’t flow together to me for some reason. or maybe I have an inexperienced palate? But that didn’t stop me from loving all the others. And that didn’t even come close to putting a damper on my experience. I adore this place. I will definitely come here if I come to Asheville again. And I’ve already told ALL my friends abut it. Love love love!

This is a funky taco shop with a whole bunch of different fusionized tacos to choose from. My brother and I shared the following 8: Thai Peanut Chicken BBQ Carnitas Duck Mole Bangkok Shrimp Fish Taco Lamb Gyro Korean Beef Bulgogi Pork Belly Our favorite by far was the Bangkok shrimp. All the rest were good to great. The fish taco and pork belly were the most disappointing. Both were still good, but overhyped. Chances are there will be a line, but it moves quickly and it’s a place I would return to on future trips.

Cheap and affordable, and their fish tacos are the best! There was a line when we arrived but it moved quickly and I appreciated their plentiful seating inside and outside on the patio. Check in on Unilocal and get a free soda drink if you buy 2 tacos. We ordered 4 tacos and the cheesy chipotle grits to share between the 2 of us. The tacos arrived with 2 corn tortillas per taco and I split half of each taco filling into each tortilla: 4 tacos became 8 tacos! The fish taco was definitely our favorite: fish was flavorful and flaky, the sauce was creamy, garnished with lettuce and tomato. The Thai peanut chicken taco was my 2nd favorite; it’s more of a sesame sauce than the peanut satay sauce that I expected but still quite good. The bulgogi taco with kimchi was okay — plenty of meat, but I think it would have been even better with some lettuce or other garnish. And finally, the Bangkok shrimp taco had tangy cucumbers with deep fried shrimp. The shrimp were really tiny so the serving was a bit small. The chipotle grits were slightly spicy, but oh so creamy and cheesy. We came away quite full and I love that the food is fast and affordable. This is also a great location to start wandering around the Riverside Art District studios, with nearby wall art/graffiti.

Excellent service & food! There were so many different tacos to choose from so we all got different ones. I had the Thai chicken, molé roast duck, and the pork belly. The Thai chicken was good, the tropical salsa on top really added to the dish and the peanut sauce had a lot of flavor. The pork belly was cooked perfectly and I loved the watermelon slaw on top, only thing was that was too much of the sauce. My absolute favorite was the duck! I’m not a huge fan of duck but this was amazing. The cranberry and apple slaw helped add a bit of sweetness. The corn chowder was also very good. Definitely check the place out!

Very unique taco shop in a unique part of a unique city. Most people don’t make it to the River District, but a trip there and some tacos from here is definitely worth the time. I had the fish and blackened chicken taco. The fish taco was amazing, but the chicken wasn’t too spectacular. There are plenty of other great options to choose from. My only complaint would be the seating. I was there in the fall when it was pretty cold outside, and the seating outside was too cold, the seating inside wasn’t too much warmer, and the seats inside were marvelously uncomfortable. An upgrade to their seating options would greatly improve the restaurant. Added bonus: There is a check in offer for a free drink!

This place had literally the best fish taco I’ve ever had. I don’t know how I neglected to write a review for them for this long. We went in July on our way up to DC. Mexican food is one of our favorites, so we decided to check out this place. I’ve had many a fish taco & this one blew the others away. My husband got the steak & cheese & he was happy with his selection as well. It’s small, but we went on a week night & didn’t have to wait. If we find ourselves in Asheville again, we’re definitely stopping here for more tacos. Get the fish taco. Now.

I was exploring the river arts district with a friend I’d made at the hostel I was staying at, and we decided to stop here for lunch after making it through an entire street of studios! Since I’d had bulgogi beef tacos the evening before, I decided to go with something different when I got here! I was going to get the Duck Mole taco, but… the White Duck Taco Shop’s logo looks too much like one of my pet duckies, Littlefoot(yes, I named them after The Land Before Time characters). I couldn’t do it. ;_; So I ordered the Bahn Mi Tofu and the Jerk Chicken! Both of them were super tasty. My friend had the Korean Beef Bulgogi and the Fish Tacos the day before and said they were both really good(he’s Korean, so in terms of authenticity, he said the kimchi was accurate, but the beef bulgogi needed some more sesame oil). He had the Bangkok Shrimp and the Pork Belly tacos, and those were also good. …so 100% success rate for tasty tacos is a win in my book! I would love to come back someday to try the others! Much as I’d still love to try the Duck Mole taco, I fear that I can no longer eat duck. ;_; Totally my duckies’ fault(s) for being so darn cute.

White Duck is super great. Seriously! I try to go at least once a month either for lunch or dinner but it is really nice to sit outside because the inside isn’t the most comfortable. Don’t expect to be waited on. Expect to wait in line for a minute. Expect to watch the crossfitters across the street doing their fitness stuff while you shove tacos in your face feeling guilty(although I never do, you might though). Stick with the house margarita, fish taco, steak taco and salsa trio and I guarantee you will be happy! TIP: They do not have a tips section on the credit card receipt so bring a little cash if you feel like doing the proper thing.

Wow, one of the best tacos I ever had, the pork belly taco. I mean wow one of the best tacos I ever had, the mole duck taco. I mean wow, one of the best tacos I ever had, the Korean beef taco. Ok, screw it wall were outstanding i could eat here everyday. But there’s more, service. They were great so tip mightily and often. I don’t think 400 reviewers can be wrong.

Dude… usually when the line wraps out of the door of a place, it’s a great sign that there are good things inside(worth waiting for)!! I looked this place up on a weekend trip to Asheville and was not disappointed. I believe there are two locations? But I chose this one since it was closer to where I was staying and on the way when I was driving in. First impressions: «Are we in the right place?» not really located near any other places in an industrial area(near the river)… it was hard to know this place existed except from the online reviews, but once we saw the line we were okay. The parking situation is pretty unique: mixture of street parking and some dirt/gravel lots. Luckily we were«early» so we grabbed a spot, but it could be challenging to find one if we were any later. The line wasn’t too bad, since I was with a friend, we divided and conquered in that I gave my friend my taco order and then I went and found a table. It was a gorgeous day, so most of the outside tables(with umbrellas) were quickly being snatched up. We preferred to stay inside and look at the cool artwork on the walls. My buddy was given a number and we waited. We didn’t have to wait too long, and we had a feast before us. SO… MANY… TACOS… All of them were tasty and crazy delicious. Can’t wait for the next Asheville trip to try more of the other unique combinations. We saw a good mix of people here: families, hipsters, business folk, out-of-towners(us), youngin’s, so this a great place since it is obviously loved by any and all people.
