Blackstone Audio Books

Blackstone Audio is located at the southern end of Ashland on old Hwy. 99. What most people don’t know is that you can buy audio books there and if you are a local resident you might even get a discount. The staff are really nice. One time I wanted an audio book in MP3 format that was available only on CDs. The receptionist said, «Let me see if we can make a MP3 disc for you; wait here. In a few minutes she returned with the MP3 version, hot off the disc burner. Another time I bought a book just issued and found major defects in the recording. I took it back and was warmly thanked for discovering the defect that was in all the current run. The problem was fixed and I received a corrected copy in the mail.
There are always books on sale or clearance.
Blackstone employs actors from all over to read the books, including some of the local Shakespeare actors. A few years ago Blackstone and the Oregon Shakespeare Festival begin recording one Shakespearian play each year from the full production.
